Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: The loan servicer, Navient, began billing me for loans while I was still in school ( when the payments were supposedly deferred. After learning about this almost 4 months after the initial bill was generated, I contacted Navient and they ask that I provide proof of enrollment. I provided the required documentation from my school. After doing so, instead of rectifying the billing issue, Navient rolled up the 4 months of " past due bills '' into my existing school loans and then capitulated the loan ( charge interest on the interest amount plus principal ). This happened on at least two different occasions across multiple school loans, and has added several thousands of dollars to the principal and interest loan amount through no fault of my own. When I attempted to address the issue with Navient, I was told they were not able to help me.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have been XXXX for 20 years and I have tried several times to have my loan forgiven. I have provided the Dept. of Education as well as Navient ( Sallie Mae ) with the documents that was asked for to get this loan forgiven. I recently tried again because I have been in my current XXXX position for 5 years. And still I am being denied. According to Navient, in XXXX I received a student loan. Not so, I was in high school in XXXX, therefore, I could not have had a student loan. This recent denial is based on that. I am highly qualified, I XXXX XXXX and I work in a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I currently owe XXXX, XXXX ( approximately ) and I should qualify for loan forgiveness. I have contacted them XX/XX/XXXX then again XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have sent Navient numerous requests on how to handle my payments. Payments and overpayments are NOT being applied in the method I have directed Navient. I have tried to reach customer advocate without success on multiple occasions. Navient has lost my account history and has refused to provide my account history in a useful form ( xls, csv, or some other summarizable method ). They will only provide lengthy images ( unable to tabulate ) of my account history. This requires that I must enter tens of thousands of characters every month if I want to " check their math '' every month. When I file complaints with the CFPB Navient marks the complaints as solved and no action is ever taken. In some instances directive is followed regarding overpayment, but such directive is often late. Plus I am infrequently notified of such actions. Communication with Navient is XXXX XXXX. I've left VM with my advocate, with the advocacy center in general, and I've emailed both too. I'm LUCKY to get any response at all. Other account holders are able to access their account history in a spreadsheet form.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: Municipal Services Bureau has continued to call my line of business over the last several months for a debt that I do not owe. I have repeatedly asked to be removed from their call lists. The agents say that every call should have a reference # for the debt collection case, but none of the calls I receive state a reference #. The agents also say that they can not ensure that I'll be removed from their call lists without me providing a reference number, even though they have never provided me a reference number. The most recent agents I spoke to were XXXX and her supervisor XXXX. Municipal Services Bureau calls me from XXXX and in the calls or voicemails they tell me to call them back at XXXX CFPB, please help this inept organization ( Municipal Services Bureau ) stop calling me.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, a young, XXXX, and naive XXXX year old signed a few private student loans through Sallie Mae ( now Navient ) for a GRAPHIC DESIGN degree. That XXXX year old was me. One of the loans I signed was for {$33000.00} at 10 % interest rate ( that should be criminal that they let me do that ). From XXXX to XXXX I went through a series of forbearances and deferments to avoid paying the loan because I couldn't afford too. In XXXX I ran out of ways to defer the payments. This is when I went on a rate reduction program through Navient. I was only able to go on this program because I complained through CFPB ( so, thank you for that ). Once I got on the program ( through Navient ) I was good to go. They reduced my interest rate down to 1 % ( my balance was almost $ XXXX ) reducing the rate to 1 % was perfect. It lowered my payment down to {$700.00} a month AND money was actually going toward my principal, which was great. Fast forward to today. They apparently initiated something to where my rate is now 5 % and it's interest only. So, I'm getting no where with paying down my loan and paying close to {$900.00} a month. The payment is too much and I need some of that payment to go toward principal. I tried talking to someone at Navient about it but they stated they weren't able to do anything. AND that amount it going to keep going up every 6 months.

Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute

Consumer Complaint: Charging my account late fees for a payment i already made that they did a payment reversal for in the same day i paid this bill the first time. And then wasnt notified until about a week after i tried to pay it, navient tried to say i was late again on my payments. The first time i paid it was {$110.00}, and then jumped to {$170.00}. Which is ridiculous being that they claimed my bank account wasnt recognized, but when i paid the first time it showed the name and location of which my bank account was from. And i paid this bill on a tue that wasnt a holiday, so there was no excuse for why my payment wasnt processed and went through.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Just letting as many folks know as possible, I've lived under this shadow too long. these guys are animals and do not care about anything but robbing you of everything. I signed a contract that contained solid borrowers ' rights, guaranteeing access to court due process and the right to appeal any decision. Both parties were on equal standing with rules clearly spelled out. I don't know what you would call this thing the govt created. lender, service, and collector? with the power to make the law without limits or oversight. Anyone feel like your rights still intact? I have declared my contract to be in breach. One party removed all rights from one party and somehow claimed them for their own. Contracts are not to be altered without the express consent of both parties. Folks we have a legal system, not perfect but protects rights, try to make both parties whole and the rules clearing spelled out. My contract falls under that jurisdiction. This is an illegitimate fairy-tale Great big illegal money machine. I will hold the contract as breach. I would welcome any challenge to the status. It will be in an actual legitimate court system. Until decided contrary by a legitimate state court Judge, The status of the contract will remain unrecoverable. Any attempts to bypass judicial review of my case will pierce the corporate vail and allow for a district court summons.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Old information reappears or never goes away

Consumer Complaint: I co signed " 2 " student loans for my son with Salle Mae who then became Navient. When he got to the top end of his loans he fell behind as the interest and payments went up. He ended up having to drop out of school cause he has other loans, a wife and XXXX children. We were harassed for years. One day a woman with a name like a flower ( I don't recall ) said if he could pay {$98.00} I believe, they would combine his loans and start him over payment wise. I questioned her several times making sure that would be his " new payment for both accounts and she said yes. She told my son the same. WRONG! Big fat lie. What she was doing was creating a " 3rd '' loan that only covered interest and what he was behind. We found out because a week later they took his ACH payment for the 2 loans thus causing his account to overdraft. I called her number immediately only to be told there was no one there by that name. Yeah right. Finally we spoke with a Mr XXXX. He combined all the loans after my son told him I am XXXX and have health problems. Mr XXXX told us both if my son would make 10 consecutive payments without being late, they would take me off the loans and out of their system. My son held up his part of the bargain and the loans stopped showing up on my credit report. UNTIL my son nearly cut the tip of his finger off and fell behind again. BOOM! Not only did they start putting derogatory remarks on my credit report, they split the loans back in to 3 loans. I had my attorney write them a letter and I stopped hearing from Navient cause they sent it to one of their subsidies XXXX XXXX. Attorney contacted them. Then I start getting calls from a XXXX who sent no letter like the Navient and XXXX but they called all the time but would hang up. I blocked them. I want the agreement with Mr XXXX to hold which means my son started paying on that agreement in XX/XX/XXXX which means as far as those loans are concerned I shouldn't even exist as of XX/XX/XXXX AND THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANYTHING to do with Navient or any of their subsidies!!!!! I know you know what I'm talking about cause you've been filing class action lawsuits against them for years. Just stay out of my credit reporting!!!!!!!!!

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: My student loans were serviced by Navient. Circa 2012, Navient representative informed me that I needed to consolidate my loans in order to participate in the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program. They informed me that I would need to make 10 years of consistent payments after which the balance would be forgiven. I allowed the consolidation to occur and immediately began making monthly payments. After learning of the recent lawsuit by CFPB, I transferred my loans to the Department of Education. That's when I learned that Navient deceived me and that none of my payments are eligible for the loan forgiveness program. In addition, amounts directly deposited with Navient by my employer were never credited to my account. Over the years, these amounts average a total of {$12000.00}.

Consumer Complaint: This account was sent to Navient. I am the co-signer, the loan is for my granddaughter. I have had nothing but trouble with them. I followed all their terms but they do not respond and will not provide me with the information and paperwork associated with this account.
