Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: Navient, has made it hard to forgive the loan we have had for 23 years, as my wife is a XXXX and I a XXXX. The loan keeps increasing it's loan payment higher and higher as it gets older. This loan practice sames odd. They are telling myself that my name is on the loan and not my wife 's, but they use her income and mine, to set payment and then tell me they can't forgive the loan, as her name is not on loan. I have been with this for a long time and will talk about documents if we may have a case.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't temporarily delay making payments
Consumer Complaint: I have switched jobs due to a XXXX XXXX and am making significantly less money. My wages are currently being garnished lowering my income even further. I have tried to delay paying my loans because I honestly do not have the money to pay them, not because I do not want to pay. I spoke to two very aggressive employees who told me that I HAD to make a payment so I asked what should I not pay to pay them. They said that is not what they meant but I needed to make a payment. XXXX and XXXX both said to me that I should be looking for another job to help make my payments. XXXX said I should drive for XXXX or XXXX. I said I could barely afford my car insurance and driving for a for hire company would increase my personal car insurance. XXXX told me that was not true and I told her that I work in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and I know that to be true, so she then launched into that I should go get a fast food job on the weekends. I told I have tried and that they won't hire me because I am over qualified. On top of all of this, Navient is currently calling me every 30 to 45 minutes. That is in direct violation of the FDCA subsection 806. I told them to stop and they said they could call me as much as they wanted as they are trying to collect a debt. This is harassment via constant phone calls and belittling me because I am unable to make payments at this time. Help!!!

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I asked Navient to provide MPN for my student loans that they service. After sending several certified letters I filed a complaint with CFPB. Navient has responded to the complaint through CFPB. However, the information they provide to the CFPB complaint vs the loan details of my account with them are inconsistent. In the complaint they state that they service 16 federal stafford loans disbursed to the University XXXX XXXX and one Federal consolidation loan. None of the loans from my Navient account have the University XXXX XXXX as the school money was disbursed to ( see attached ). My account indicates that loans were disbursed to The University XXXX XXXX Navient also has 2 consolidation loans on the account, but in the response to CFPB say they have one ( see attached ). However, Navient has incorrect information and details about my loans.

Consumer Complaint: I went to enroll back in school after taking a break, and found out my loan wasn't in deferral anymore. I didn't know it was out of default which was a shock, then told to pay 9 months to go back to school. I was making payments to US Dept. of Ed. then was unemployed and fell behind. Tried to contact them found out they sent to their standard collection agency ( XXXX? Law Office ). The XXXX law office never replies to anything, their reviews also say this online. When I received a letter from them, I wrote back that I was submitting the 2 payments a month ( double payments to catch up ) to US Dept of Ed previous address and they are cashing the checks. Never heard back. Then last years biggest tax return I have ever received in my life was kept by them.Put me in another financial hardship ( fixing cars, catching bills up, etc. ). I have been paying double payments since last year and received a tax form regarding the {$5500.00} amount I paid for student loan interest in 2019 for my tax filing this year. When I try to find a phone number to call US Dept of Ed it is difficult to find one regarding my account. I tried the default resolution group regarding tax returns being taken and it says I am still with XXXX law office who I have never dealt with. I was calling to ask if my return ( if I even get one since I changed my filing after last year ) was released now, if I can go back to school since I am caught up and I can't get through. I even want to still make a payment a month while in school. I tried to file a complaint on their website and the information about what they deal with does not pertain to what I am complaining about. I just want my account cleared up and this XXXX agency never did squat for me to pay the loan once I had the money.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2019 : I filled out an application with Navient to change my repayment plan to the Pay As You Earn ( PAYE ) plan. My application was denied six times, each time due to the fault of Navient 's employees because they provided incorrect information about the process and the required information from me. Their incompetence and negligence would have cost me over {$600.00} per month had I not continued to pursue this issue. Each time I filled out the forms, they were rejected with little feedback from Navient. After each rejection, I called their customer service and was given inconsistent instructions which were completely different from the last set I received. They are also uninformed and unable to articulate the difference between the repayment plans.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying my loans since XXXX. I have served in the military since XXXX and just got out. I got out of college with my student loan debt reaching {$150000.00} due to interest rates that I was aware I had chosen. After 10 years now Ive only gotten my debt down to {$120000.00} and I pay {$800.00} a month to navient ( originally Sallie Mae ). They dont give me other options on ways to pay it back or lower my debt but tell me I can just do forbearance if it becomes a hassle but it will continue to add the interest ( not really a solution ).

Consumer Complaint: I currently have 2 consolidated student loans with Navient for attending XXXX - XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX. I have been making payments since I graduated. The original balance was $ XXXX. When I graduated in XXXX, I owed $ XXXX and I have been making payments ever since. My consolidated loan XXXX has a balance of {$1200.00} ; my consolidated loan XXXX has a balance of just under $ XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX ( 1st call ) I contacted Navient via phone to request to repay half of XXXX of my existing consolidated student loans. Both loans were up-to-date on payments and I owed no late fees.I informed them that I had tried to " specify loan over-payment '' on their website, but the function did not work. Regardless of specifying the payment amount for each loan on the website, they automatically spread the payments across both loans through their " formula. '' During my phone call with Navient I requested, 3 times to apply {$600.00} to loan XXXX. The representative accepted the request and performed the action. He told me to wait 2-4 days for the payment to post. On XX/XX/XXXX I checked the Navient website and the payment was misapplied. The payment was applied to both loans instead of to loan XXXX as I requested. I contacted Navient again on XX/XX/XXXX ( 2nd call ) to inform them of the incorrect payment application. The representative reviewed the error and worked with a supervisor to reapply the payment to the correct loan XXXX. I was instructed again to wait 2-4 days for payment to post. On XX/XX/XXXX I checked the Navient website and observed the payment misapplication once again. I again contacted Navient ( 3rd phone call ) and informed the representative of the misapplication of payment. The representative stated that he would correct the error. He coordinated with a supervisor to redirect the funds, once again, to the correct loan account. At that time, I requested for the representative to confirm my loan XXXX balance. He stated that is was {$520.00}. I informed him that I would like to pay the loan off. The Navient representative told me that I could not pay it off. He stated that I needed to wait 2-4 days for the original payment to post and then call back. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and the representative stated " Why? '' I said that I was attempting to pay off a student loan and Navient is making it impossible to do so, all the while I am accruing interest on the loan. I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Ultimately, he allowed me to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor got on the call with me, accepted my payment, confirmed the remaining balance of {$520.00} and I provided my debit card information to complete payment. The supervisor stated that she would personally monitor the account to ensure no further misapplication of payment and that the loan would be paid off. I checked my Navient account today, XXXX XXXX, XXXX and the payment application is once again incorrect. Through either intentional malfeasance or incompetence, Navient continues to deny me the opportunity to pay off my student loan. All the while, I continue to accrue interest on a loan that should have been paid off several days ago.

Consumer Complaint: I've requested to have someone call me to talk about a possible settlement option. I've been paying on this loan for years/decades faithfully and came into some money that could possible pay off the loan. I received an email from their customer service department that they won't be able to make any kind of offer. I've heard that Navient ( Sallie Mae ) will only talk to borrowers if they're account is in a default status. I believe this is very backwards. I want to pay the majority but not the entire thing since they've been capitalizing on interest with me for years/decades. If someone could please help me get an offer settlement on this loan, I'd greatly appreciate it. XXXX XXXX
