Consumer Complaint: Navient refuses to properly process my Teacher Loan Forgiveness Application. The application is properly filled in and I meet all requirements including : 1. XXXX at an eligible XXXX XXXX 2. Being a highly qualified XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, or ( only if my XXXX XXXX began before XX/XX/ ) a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in a subject area relevant to my academic major ( forgiveness of up to {$5000.00} ). 3. Being approved and signed off by my XXXX 's Assistant Superintendent of Finance. The application was rejected twice for the following reasons. The first rejection was because the assistant superintendent used the date format XXXX. Navient insisted the date format must instead beXX/XX/XXXX. The second rejection was because the assistant superintendent did not include the middle initial of the XXXX 's name ( e.g. " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX '' instead of " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX '' ) even though there is only one such named XXXX in the city and even state. I continue to resubmit the application with each technicality corrected, but new technicalities continue to cause rejections. I have no doubt it will continue to be rejected without just cause.

Consumer Complaint: I didn't even attend the school for 3 months. I told them I will be joining the XXXX & to remove me. They said it was fine. After I joined the XXXX, I found out that they were still charging me as if I was attending the school. They now have me at over {$9000.00} that I owe them & my account is now at default. The school closed down years ago due to fraud. They have scammed numerous students with loans like they did to me. I have filed a dispute with the credit bureau & also the dept of education. I have also filed a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs. It is currently under investigation. I have been serving in the XXXX XXXX for almost 9 year now.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: On as many as four separate occasions the payments I made towards my student loans we misapplied to a closed account in my husband 's name. The payments were paid through an online bill system in my name only. The account number was marked on the payments. The bank, the bank account, and the method of payment has not changed in years, so why would random payments be applied towards another account that had been closed for several years? I discovered the misapplied payments by accident. I actually opened one of those " payment received '' emails Navient sends after payment has been made. I receive them monthly, but don't open them as the subject line satisfies my need to make sure the payment was received. For some reason, I happened to open the last email they sent out to me. To my surprise, the email was thanking XXXX, my husband, not me ( XXXX ) for payment. This confused me and I began digging. I called Navient and their response was ridiculous. Navient acknowledged the misapplied payments. However, Navient claimed the misapplied payments were due to my bank. Navient stated that they refunded the money to me in the form of a check ; no checks have been received. Navient refused to apply the money to the correct account. Navient made it seem as if the misapplied payments were not a big deal because my account has been in forbearance. Yes, but I still make monthly payments to reduce interest. The misapplied payments mean that the interest is higher on my student loans and my taxes are not correct. I made those payments correctly, they applied them incorrectly! Dates of misapplied payments : XXXX {$210.00} XXXX {$210.00} XXXX {$310.00} XXXX {$310.00} The issue has not been resolved.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying on this loan for over 9 years and only paid down {$2000.00} but recently with coronavirus I received an email that my loan is in forbearance for the next six months to help with what is going on which is very helpful however when I check on my account today it shows that my balance increased by XXXX. How is that when my account is on a forbearance by the government? Like I said I cant seem to get this balance down and Ive been paying for YEARS! Ive never missed a payment

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I applied for a {$12000.00} student loan in XXXX/XXXX to attend XXXX XXXX University-XXXX, Ga with SallieMae. When I signed for this student loan, I wasnt told that this was credit base and that there was different stipulations but that it was a federal student loan to help cover school expenses. On XX/XX/XXXX, it was transferred to Navient. I have been repaying this loan since XX/XX/XXXX without any breaks in payments and due to this variable interest rate, it has become challenging to pay this loan off. I cant refinance the loan because of my credit and I'm exhausted of attempts to refinance my loan to get a fixed rate. The balance of my loan is over $ 24K and if I have been paying on this loan since XXXX, the loan should not still be astronomical if it originated at $ XXXX. My loan has accrued at least $ XXXX of interest and it still increasing. I have spoke with Navient about forgiving my loan but there are no alternatives. I asked about forgiveness of my loan, refinancing my loan for a fixed rate and I was educated that there is no loan forgiveness for private loans and that Navient doesn't offer refinancing options for Private loans. If I was educated back in XXXX/XXXX, I would have never signed for this loan. So I'm out of options. I need some help on refinancing my private loan and I need my account researched to see if the interest was calculated accurately. I feel that my balance should be lower than it's current amount. Since I left XXXX XXXX University-XXXX, GA, I have accomplished XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX, XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX and XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX degrees from XXXX -XXXX. I have accumulated over $ 200k in student loans just to find an eligible job that will pay a decent salary. I had to defer my {$1000.00} payments to pay down other debt just to have the ability to refinance my student loan and that is taking some time. So I need all the help. I am covered in student loan debt. Please help me. What are my alternatives?

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have been in communication by phone and email about my Student loan with Navient for several years without any resolution. In XX/XX/XXXX when I graduated with University XXXX XXXX, I ended up facing economic recession with huge loss of unemployment as well as the crash of the Housing Market which I ended up short selling my residence at the end of XXXX due to Financial Hardship and son with a critical/ Chronical medical condition at birth in XX/XX/XXXX that ended up with permanent XXXX. Originally when I applied for a Student Loan, I was informed that my loans was sponsored by the Government and not private entities. Second, I have been in contact with Navient since Sallie Mae Transfer my Student Loan to inform them with my hardship Situation and requesting assistance. First, Navient automatically initiated deferment due to unemployment without educated me about other options I might have. So, Since I was at the edge of Financial Hardship I agreed without understanding the terms that Navient will assessed Daily Interests on my loans ( Called Capitalized Interest ). Since then, I have asked for two additional Forbearance or deferment to help me stand on my feet. Unfortunately with the challenges that I have been facing with my XXXX XXXX, I was not able to work because of the XXXX XXXX and XXXX who was monitoring his condition. in Addition, the extensive medical care cause me to postpone the search of a Job. Due to my son illnesses and the extensive medical care has put my family in tremendous hardship and it was the reason that I applied for a deferment or forbearance at that time of period. After Several communication with Navient, they modified my loan base on family Income driven from my spouse currently and single income. Lowering my income it was not an option given at the time of deferment because Navient did not offer it at the first place and also I was not aware of my options. Navient failed systematically and illegally to provide accurate information to me at every stage of the repayment process that includes : 1- Created obstacles to repayment by providing bad information 2- Processed payment incorrectly. 3- Failed to act proactively when I complained several times due to my circumstances. 4- Illegally providing information to benefit its financial institution as I struggled for many years out of my right to lower payments and not capitalized more interests into my loans, which caused me to overpay for my student loans and placed me with 25 years loan repayment program that I am currently paying for the past 12 years. 5- Navient improperly directed me into Forbearance or deferment plan when I could otherwise might been qualified for income driven repayment plan ( as original step ) to avoid excess capitalized interest on top of my loan ; and did not adequately keep me informed of deadlines to maintain the eligibility under such plan. 6- With Coronavirus Pandemic, All student loan borrowers are suffering with several matters. The Congress pass a Stimulus to provide relief to all Student borrowers for an extension of almost 6 months without penalties of interest accrued. I am eligible for this program because I found out that Navient converted my loans to Private Loan which are not part of this program that has been offered as relief to most American. This is dishonesty and cheating as well as fraud that Navient has changed my student loan without my consent or approval.

Consumer Complaint: Had asked them to refinance my loan with a lower interest rate back when sallie-mae held the loan and also when navient bought this account i had asked them to lower the % rate. I also have receipts going back to XX/XX/2007 totaling over {$10000.00}. The initial loan was {$14000.00}. With navient the balance is still {$14000.00} plus {$110.00}. When i asked navient about previous payments that were made to sallie-mae of ( {$10000.00} ) there answer was that was for interest only. Should you need any receipts i have all of them since conception of this loan.

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged
Consumer Complaint: In reviewing my credit report- Department of education/Navient has added over XXXX worth of interest to my student loan debt from dates ranging from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. Per my XXXX credit report Navient added a note showing an increase of student loan interest from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX. They just recently added a note of a increase of XXXX from dates ranging from XXXX. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, aren't fees suspended starting XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX? Why am I being charged for interest or accessed fees during a pandemic crisis? Secondly, the amount of the increase is astronomical. a XXXX fee for 1 month vs from XXXX XX/XX/XXXX only XXXX? Please investigate this and have Navient make the applicable adjustments. In dealing with Navient as long as I have, I just have a feeling once this pandemic is subsided, they will quadruple fees to my student loans??
