Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I have had an " Auto-Pay '' schedule on my NAVIENT serviced Federal Student Loan ( FFELP ) for each month in the amount of approximately {$120.00} since XXXX. I have not touched this Auto-Pay schedule or amount and have allowed the monthly payment to debit from my bank account. Without my knowledge or consent, NAVIENT changed the Auto-Debit amount in XX/XX/XXXX to {$58.00}, thereby hitting less of the principal and extending the life of the payments of the loan. By doing this, NAVIENT enabled more profit onto themselves at my detriment. The only way I found out this happened is that I reviewed my bank account and wondered why the amount paid to NAVIENT was lower than usual. NAVIENT also makes its website very difficult to change the auto-pay schedule back to its original amount and one has to navigate through new prompts and de-activate the current auto-pay schedule and re-enter bank account information to re-enable a new auto-pay amount. By doing this, NAVIENT is encouraging borrowers to not increase their auto-pay scheduled amounts. As a measure to protect myself, I added a few extra payments into my loan ( in addition to the Auto-Pay ) because I could not figure out how to change the Auto-Pay amounts easily. I find this practice from NAVIENT to be deceptive and manipulative, and I am saddened at all the other loans they have reduced auto-pay amounts and borrowers who have not yet noticed.

Consumer Complaint: Navient is very deceitful. I have paid over 18k of interest for my 30k federal student loan. And they are telling me I still owe 30k of the loan. They give me very limited options for paying back the loan. They also do not give a timeline of when I should pay off the loan or how much I have left in my term. This whole thing does not make sense. I already have paid off XXXX 20k plus car loans but I can't pay my XXXX student loan debt. because of the high interest and long term student loan terms? This does not make sense. Please Help! call me XXXX! XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I am a cosigner on my nephews personal student loan account with Navient Bank. The original loan amount was {$3500.00}. I've been paying the loan on my nephew 's behalf and noticed Navient was charging me interest on top of interest. They were charging me interest on {$6000.00} ( principle and accumulated interest ) opposed to the original {$3500.00} principle amount. I contacted Navient and complained and was told there was nothing they can do.

Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms
Consumer Complaint: Hello. My name is XXXX XXXX. Date of birth is XX/XX/XXXX. Address is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NY XXXX. Social security number is XXXX. I would provide you with more information pertaining to the loans that I am speaking about, however - thats the trouble that I am facing - I can not get one word of information from Navient. I have tried numerous times for honestly YEARS to request information from Navient and XXXX XXXX XXXX ( I am not sure if they are the same company or what because no one will explain that to me when I call ). I want to resolve my student loan debt, however - over the years it has switched hands of who owns my debt so many times that it is hard for me to keep up. I have a million navient student loan accounts on my credit report - that do not match what my navient online portal says etc. I will repay what I owe with a consolidation loan IF I could get all of the original documents and vital information to do so. I want to ensure that 1. ) I am not being collected on by multiple collection agencies for the same debt. 2. ) That all of their figures are correct. My most recent call to Navient yesterday went as follows. The representative that I spoke with ( she told me that they DO NOT GENERATE REFERENCE NUMBERS FOR PHONE CALLS ) I do not know why an agency that handles such high balances and important documentation would not generate a way to refer back to phone calls - that makes me very uneasy. The representative stated that they received my loans in XX/XX/XXXX. Which contradicts all of these balances in their entirety because I didnt even take the loans OUT originally through the original lender until post XX/XX/XXXX. I need from Navient all of my records for every loan they have on file currently and everything they " charged off '' on my credit report. I want to know the original lender, the original school of disbursement and the disbursement dates. The date that THEY acquired my debt and what the balances were when they acquired them. I need to know how their loan numbers correspond with the original loan numbers of Sallie Mae. I also am requesting all of my payment history with them - because I did pay on these for a few years before I was in an unfavorable financial position to do so. They could not answer not one of my questions and keep telling me they do not have access to any of this information and I need to email a department that I have been emailing for months with no reply. They refused to take my information and transfer it to that dept internally to call me back or reply to me via email. How is it that they can ruin my credit report and stalk my grandmother whom I do not believe is even my cosigner on these loans without being able to provide me with ANY INFORMATION pertaining to the XXXX dollars they are ruining my financial credit score and future over? This is terrifying. I do not know what else to do or try to ensure that I will not be taken advantage of and double paying - or paying balances that I have already paid in the past. Please help me. Point me in any direction to get to the bottom of all of this so that I can finally take care of it. Thank you.Cell is XXXX. Email is XXXX XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I am a second generation college graduate and Ive been struggling with NAVIENT for years. I was strongly suggested for years to request a forbearance when I was jobless and struggling to pay rent while working a full time job and to try different plans, which in my ignorance raised my interest and kept resetting my PSLF plan and recalculating my IBR. In XXXX I hit the tipping point and cried and sought legal counsel after I had saved up enough money to make an offer to payoff my loans. I was told that XXXX XXXX VP Navient would review my request. I called back at the end of XXXX to learn that he denied my request because I hadnt defaulted or been behind in years. I was told by the representative on XX/XX/2019 that if my account had been delinquent and I wasnt able to pay then he would have accepted my offer. To make sure I was getting the same story ... two other representatives said that it is typically NAVIENTs practice. As a XXXX XXXX American woman, it breaks my heart and makes me want to speak up for others who may not have the education nor desire to ask for justice and help. My scenario was I can only go to college with a loan at XXXX so Ill start applying, I cant pay back the loan right away so I have to take a forbearance, I can start paying the loan but i wont be debt free until 20 years so Ill work for a non profit and do good in the world while hopefully getting my federal and maybe private loans forgiven, I save up money to be debt free so I am not a burden on my husband and our two girls .... and then NAVIENT gives me hopeless options continue to pay on the loan for 10+ more years, pay off the entire loan or become delinquent-Ness up your credit score and then theyll accept my lower offer. It seems like an injustice and abuse of power. I continue to pay monthly, because its my duty.
