Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I reached out to Navient Solutions LLC, the holder of my 3 student loans, several times between XXXX. I was reaching out to Navient with the intention of paying off the balance of my 3 student loans totaling {$23000.00}. When I called in and voiced my desire to make that payment, the woman from Navient asked me if I was interested in seeing if I qualified for a student loan forgiveness and consolidation program. I was not necessarily interested in the consolidation, however I told her I was interested in seeing if I qualified for the loan forgiveness. So the woman on the phone filled out the application to help me apply for what she claimed was an income based student loan forgiveness program. On XX/XX/20 she said that I did qualify for {$8000.00} in loan forgiveness, however there were some stipulations. I would have to pay what she claimed was the balance of the interest on my principle amount, {$5000.00}. I would also have to agree to have my loan consolidated and transferred to a new loan holding company, XXXX, where I would be able to pay off the balance. On XX/XX/20 I signed a master promissory note, with whom I believed was Navient, to complete this process. I agreed to pay the {$5000.00}, and on XX/XX/20 that money was drafted from my checking account. The women at Navient said that this consolidation process would take approximately 60-90 days, and I could expect to see my first statement from XXXX, with a new balance of approximately {$10000.00} around that time. I got my first statement from XXXX approximately 3 weeks ago with a balance of {$23000.00}. Shocked that my balance was {$13000.00} more than I had anticipated it being, I called XXXX to see what the discrepancy was. XXXX voiced they had no record of the {$5000.00} payment towards the interest of my balance, and they also said they had no record of any {$8000.00} forgiveness towards my balance. I called Navient, who similarly reported no record of those payments. Navient was also unable to produce any type of call log or correspondence from the communication I had with them from XXXX. Upon reviewing the master promissory note, it appears to reference another party/s, XXXX I also have an email thanking me from doing business with The XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Finally, the fraud department at my bank was able to see that the money was drafted from my bank account under the name XXXX XXXX XXXX. I am not sure at what point I was scammed. I feel that someone working at Navient misled/misdirected me towards the scamming company. I never reached out to anyone other than Navient throughout this entire process. They did consolidate my loans, and transfer them to a new loan holding house XXXX, however there is no trail of where my $ XXXX went nor any evidence that my loan is being forgive any.

Consumer Complaint: Sallie Mae mistakenly reported a delinquency on my credit report when the owed amount was paid using their app. According to the app the payment was rejected when funds were available at the time. I have contacted the case manager and this person did not work with me. I have paid the amount, but wanted my credit corrected. She insisted that this was not their fault and needed to check with my bank. They do not report calls or let you know in any way that the payment was " missed '' or rejected which was what happened to me. - When they call they do so from unknown numbers and with the amount of scammers around I or anyone I know do not answer any type of calls from an " unknown '' number. The caller ID does not display a number it just shows " unknown '' The amount was paid, but now I have to dispute a negative mark on my credit report. the date I called Sallie Mae XX/XX/2020 - The date the payment was rejected XX/XX/2020 for the amount of {$340.00}

Consumer Complaint: Navient raised my payment to $ 300+ a month because I got a pay raise. I asked if they could recalculate it and they told me that I would have to submit additional pay stubs. Which would only result in the same payment or even higher. Then when I asked what my other options were they said I could put it in forbearance and that was my only other option. Which means Im going to end up owing a lot more due to the interest.

Consumer Complaint: I took out loans from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and Direct Student Loans which total a little over {$13000.00} ( XXXX XXXX ) Dollars. This loan has since ended up with Navient. I contacted XXXX XXXX and was told that they submitted a much smaller number to Navient nowhere near the huge amount they are saying I owe. For years although I have made payments, my balance has increased to a now balance of over {$160000.00} ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Dollars. I have disputed this with the bureaus but they keep coming back saying I owe this amount. My report lists a disbursement date and an incorrect principal amount. While going through the dispute process, the people at Navient have not been able to explain why the amount is inflated, but it appears that a huge interest amount was added to my account of over {$43000.00} ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). after beginning my dispute process. XXXX explained that they use the E-Oscar electronic system to verify my information. I explained to Navient that I was a victim of Identity theft back in 1999 and had to go about correcting my credit report because of fraudulent activity, It did not occur to me to file a Police Report. At the time I lived in XXXX and had relocated to XXXX, I left items in my former residence that contained by social security number and neighbors that had moved in from XXXX XXXX XXXX stole my information. So if there are any loans taken out from 1999 and beyond they do not belong to me. This has been extremely stressful to me, I have tried for years to resolve this but have been unsuccessful, all the while being unable to purchase a home, unable to obtain housing at certain times, denied loans personal or business and experiencing a low credit score because of my debt to income ratio. It hasn't mattered how much money I earn or the fact that I have nothing in collections or the fact that I have had an exceptional payment history for quite some time. Please look into this matter for me, I was told by XXXX that they get their information from creditors and they have to report whatever the creditors submit, so even if I disagree with what the creditor submits or if it is incorrect, me sending documentation to them is useless if the creditors refuse to correct it. this is very unfair to the consumer.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing this letter to notify you of a continuing violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) ) committed by DPT/ED NAVI. After several acts of disputes and letter submissions made on my end, each attempt proved futile. At times, some of the requests made were not even acknowledged with a response. As I attach some of the articles in this compliant evidencing correspondence that took place, it is unequivocally clear that I never made a refusal to pay, but gave notice that the claims alleged were disputed. Due to their negligence, noncompliance, and refusal to delete UNVERIFIED information from my consumer file, it has cost me tremendously in regards to employment opportunities, residency approvals, loan/credit line approvals, and administrative fees for the dispute process.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I became XXXX ( not related to the virus ). I contacted the servicer for my Department of Education student loan ( Navient ) to change my Income Based Repayment plan. They acknowledged receiving my application and income verification documents. The student loan payment I made on my Income Based Repayment plan in XXXX was {$640.00} but then based upon my XXXX IBR application they changed my payment amount to {$1500.00} Under my XXXX insurance, I receive only XXXX of my regular income. This should apply to my Income Based Repayment plan as well, thus my recalculated student loan payment should be {$420.00} and this is the payment amount my IBR plan should indicate until my income changes or the one year IBR annual renewal occurs. During XXXX school ( starting in XXXX ) I obtained student loans from several sources, however many years ago I refinanced all my student loans with the Department of Education at an interest rate of 4.25 % - then at some point Navient began collecting the payments. I understand that under the CARES act these student loan payments are not to be collected between XXXX and XXXX. Although currently on a XXXX, I am employed by a XXXX XXXXy XXXX XXXX XXXX for 4 years and have made monthly payments on my IBR plan going back at least 18 years. I worked for XXXX XXXX XXXX, the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and founded XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX. If my 5 years of work for the XXXX XXXX XXXX ( in the Kingdom of XXXX ) had been through the XXXX XXXX, or if I had been working in XXXX XXXX through XXXX XXXX XXXX, then that employment would more clearly apply toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness. But I believe that my employment during this period does apply toward a Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Is not working for the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX also public service? I believe that it is, and thus a combined 4 years at XXXX, 5 years in XXXX, and 15 months at the XXXX XXXX XXXX program applied towards PSLF should release me from any further servitude to Navient.

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have been fighting this case for over 5 years and this is the 1st time my loans were showing from XXXX XXXX college. I have written to Navient many times and the consumer protection bureau, Borrower defense to repayment, OIG the Ombudsman, I filed with FTC, the police, everything. You name it, I have done it and still nothing is being done about these loans that are not mine. The only thing that is happening is accrued interest. When I file a claim with the Ombudsman, they say they investigate the case and verify it and then it is closed. My complaint is with the Ombudsman with student aid for dropping the ball once again, and working on the side of Navient for misreporting these loans. I complained with FSA that they closed the case, and it was escalated to another review with XXXX who said I had 7 days to give them new evidence. 7 days after I have waited over 5 years! I have received 100 's of pieces of documents to comb through. I want them to stop sending me these useless documents that are already a part of the NSLDB and look at my evidence. She was supposed to get back to me last week on Monday and did not. I have not received any emails from her explaining what they are doing about my case or if they have received my information. From the information below, It clearly shows from my award letters that I only received 6 loans from XXXX not 11. Yet 11 are being reported with interest. When I spoke with the loan coordinator at XXXX they said they do not use account numbers, and could do nothing about it. I was like pulling teeth trying to get the information as no one wanted to be held liable.. Therefore since Navient won't remove the loans, it is the Ombudsman 's responsibility to protect the students welfare. I want these accounts removed immediately!

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't temporarily delay making payments
Consumer Complaint: Hi On XX/XX/XXXX XXXX,,,, I called Navient ( XXXX ) XXXX Student loan ( formerly Sallie Mae ) and I informed them about my difficulty of making payment and please I need forbearance until the pandemic is over. Prior the pandemic of Covit-19 I been making my payment on time with out any delay and established a great history as always making my payment on time. Going back to my call i told Customer service since i can not make this payment because of my unemployment status and can you please pause my payments without any late fees or can you please extend my loan period until this pandemic is over and SHE TOLD ME IN UPPER CASE THAT I WILL SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST BUT YOU STILL NEED TO MAKE A PAYMENT of small percentage of loan payment, which the loan is {$310.00} and we agreed only {$100.00}. So based on that i had no choice and made a payment of XXXX dollars on XX/XX/XXXX, which took away my food allowance money for my family. Few days later i received nasty, disgusting calls for collectors representing Navient which i had no clue it was a collectors and representing Navient, but soon after speaking to them and their tone i found out that they were collecting agencies, and you know these people have no mercy and no passion even at time of Covit-19. Today XX/XX/XXXX i was checking my account on line and i saw late fee charge for the month of XX/XX/XXXX = XXXX XX/XX/XXXX = XXXX total amount due for XXXX ... ... On XX/XX/XXXX i received another email indicating you need to make payment and your account is past due. on XX/XX/XXXX as a consumer i post a payment of only {$210.00} ... .. which this is all i can afford. This company is horrible and they have no compassion the way they treated me at the time of COVIT-19 ... .. what it really frustrates me THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU EVEN IF YOU MADE YOUR PAYMENT ON TIME IN PAST AND ESTABLISHED A GOOD HISTORY WITH THEM.
