Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms

Consumer Complaint: I took out my private loans in XXXX. I call a couple of years back because my federal loans went from twenty years to thirty-year loans. They explained to me that it was because I had consolidated my loans for a lower interest rate. At the time this was not explained to me. Fast forward I was looking at a credit report from XXXX and it clearly shows my private loans as a loan term of 240 months or twenty years. Suddenly in XXXX, my estimated payoff date is XXXX instead of XXXX. They can not seem to explain to me why they have added three years to my loan payments. This is fraudulent and I would like them to make it right. I have not placed my private loans in forbearance or any other stop payment type action. I have paid them consistently over the years.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Greetings, During this global pandemic, communication has been phrased around " as of XX/XX/XXXX, your loan service will suspend any federal student loans and suspend interest till XXXX XXXX. You do not have to request it, the loan servicer will do so automatically. '' Even the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau communicated the same here : https : //www.consumerfinance.gov/about-us/blog/what-you-need-to-know-about-student-loans-and-coronavirus-pandemic/ I have federal, Stafford student loans that are now with Navient ( was with Sallie Mae , acquired between XXXX ). Today XXXX, I saw my loans were now past due and had not been suspended. From everything I was reading, even on this site, my loans were indeed federal and met the criteria. When I called Navient just now on XXXX, I was told yes, my loans are indeed federal, but they are only suspending all US Department of Education loans ... and my loans even though are federal, are not owned by the US Department of Education therefore, they would not be automatically suspended during this pandemic. This is serious miscommunication. Or, Navient is not abiding by the law. I carried on and did not pay for a month as everything I had read seemed to line up. Yes, I did see that in your article there was an exception of FFEL program loans, but mine are not even that. They were FFELP loans, which I thought were different and did not see any mention of them as an exception. So the statement that all federal student loans will be suspended is false and should be more clearly communicated, or, ANY federal loans should actually be suspended during this pandemic, as they should be.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I was recently denied credit and was told it was due to Navient reporting recent lates. My student loans are deferred as a current student and should never have been reported late. Even when the deferral was verified/submitted, they did not correct my credit report. This company is absolutely terrible and now I'm paying for them.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Navient Currently I am under an income driven repayment plan The established monthly fee is substracted automatically from account every XXXX of the month. Several times a year ( XX/XX/2020 ) my payment was only to pay interest no principal. According to Navient my payment was not ontime ( after my complain, I received a " copy-paste '' letter saying that ) Currently I have paid almost XXXX dollar of my loan and the balance remains unchanged ( almost XXXX ). I am struggling to make this monthly payment, but I rather make an extra effort to avoid interest to buildup, but I feel this extra effort is not worth it. I feel I am being robbed every month when my payment is deducted. Is incredible that paying a student loan from navient is more expensive that paying for luxury item on a retail store using the store credit card. Everytime I call Navient, I am wrong and they are correct. On every XXXX, always verify the amortization of each payment. When I see XXXX to principal and XXXX to interest my blood begins to boil. Then calling Navient and/or writing an email feels like when your parents are grounding you for something you didnt do. How unfair Navient should be here to help us, they are administering money from tax payer XXXX my money ). Its a shame Thanks PS in picture attached you will see there is no payment during XXXX My IDR plan had to be renewed. I received an email, followed every instruction then received a confirmation email that everything was on order, later I received a confirmation letter. ( everything was OK ) When I received my bank statement I noticed there was no payment for Navient on XXXX, I also started receiving threats from navient that my account was due and was going to be reported. I called Navient immediately and they told me that the process I made online was not for the private loan, that the private loan IDR is only by phone ( i didnt know that ) As you can see XXXX fee was only to pay interest and XXXX fee was only to pay interest

Navient should not be charging me payments for attending a school who gave students false certification and tormented students with predatory loans. i am not capable of paying these loans as i need to go back to school and graduate with an actual degree. ive been getting the same response from Navient for many years now and nothing is being done to correctly resolve this financial crisis. can anyone please assist?

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Navient recently wrote me a letter XX/XX/XXXX stating they own a student loan ( s ) in my name. I am requesting Navient to produce the.chain of custody they own student loan ( s ) in my name. In the letter Navient sent two documents consolidated loan and repayment but both forms do not bear my signature. The FFELP Federal Consolidation Loan Application And Promissory Note form is a print name dated XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX the form state this is WEB form and not for public use. The form also state no printed name, no e -signature, no print e-name or the application will be rejected. The form state you can only mail in the form. The form upper right hand corner list me and the WEB as the lender. My signature is not on FFELP consolidation loan and application. The second document Loan Consolidation Disclosure Statement And Repayment Schedule does not have a lender name nor lender identification nor address. The typed form is missing money {$4100.00} from original amount borrowed {$53000.00} under original creditor. In XXXX their was no lender name XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX the company did not register until XXXX for private student loans only. The form has no company identification. The months of payments are XXXX not XXXX in which make the amount owed wrong. The letter Navient sent stated I had a balance of {$6100.00} but Navient is appearing on my credit report as owing {$73000.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX after their XX/XX/XXXX investigation. That is a difference of {$12000.00}. Navient has damaged my credit score. This show Navient is wrong about student loans in my name they did an investigation. The letter state and the investigation was confirmed in XX/XX/XXXX. Sending a copy of my credit report to Navient. Thank you, XX/XX/XXXX XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Navient has been incorrectly applying my overpayments for years. After months of trying to rectify the situation, Navient had me go through an online process. Payment was made on their website and no error message appeared. The next month Navient charged me a late fee. The payment did not go through due to a technical issue on their end. As far as the overpayments, I have requested that the overpayments go towards the account with the lower payment. Navient refuses to apply the overpayments to the account at my direction. While trying to rectify this situation, Navient falsely represented that they reversed the improper charges. Bottom line is Navient is illegally charging a late fee and not crediting the appropriate account with the overpayments.
