Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is against Navient- student loan services, I have contacted them a few times in the past back in XXXX regarding my student loan account. I have requested for Navient to send me a bill each for my interest that is accruing on my account each month that is not being paid by the government. And they claim they can not provide me with that, in which I find that very unfair that Navient can charge me interest and they can not provide a monthly statement of my interest. I have never heard of such thing, if a consumer borrow money from any financial institution then it is the lender responsibility to provide the borrower with not just a statement showing the amount owed ( all added up into one balance ), but the lender must be able to provide a statement showing the monthly amounts itemized out on the statement. Just like on a credit card, the creditor provides a monthly statement with current balance that includes any recent charges including the interest that was charge for that month 's period. As Navient continues to adds interest to my student loans accounts along with reporting the added interest to the credit bureau showing that my balances on my loans are increasing, which can and is causing a negative effect on my credit utilization on my report, which in terms affects my credit score. As I had notice this and I can be paying my interest on my loans every month, I requested that they send me a statement showing the interest that is being added monthly, giving me a consolidate/ combine interest is not going to suffice, but they refused and expect me as customer to calculated previous statement to get my interest ... NO!! I will not! So therefore, Navient needs to provide me with a monthly interest statement showing me what interest has been added to my loans for that month. It is not my job to be their computing system and calculate my own interest every month, they need to do that. And stop providing a lump sum total of all my interest without showing me the interest for that months period. As a lender Navient is supposed to provide accurate, detailed, itemized information to the borrower. I want to know every month, not every three months, because Navient reports to credit bureaus every month, so therefore I want to see it every month what the amount of interest that is being added to my account and I want to see it on my statement separately, so that it can be paid monthly. I will not do their job for them, because its not my job to do its only knowledge for me as consumer/borrower if indeed I wanted to know how my loans are being calculated.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of 2020, I discovered that I had become a victim of identity theft. After being denied for a credit card, I checked my credit report and saw several XXXX XXXX in total ) student loans that had been taken out in my name totaling $ XXXX. All of these loans are open and have not been paid on for years resulting in them continually gaining interest. I sent in a letter notifying all XXXX credit bureaus that my identity had been used fraudulently, along with a FTC affidavit and a police report but they refused to block the account stating that it was " validated ''. When asked why they refused to block the accounts when I'm showing adequate proof that the accounts were not mine, and provided them with the proper documents needed to have the accounts removed they declined to answer. I followed up by requesting that the creditor provide me with details on what method they used to " validate '' the account, all while forbidding them from using E-Oscar to do so but they disregarded my request and sent another letter stating that all XXXX accounts were validated. I specifically requested that they provide me with physical proof of a contract with my signature showing that the debt is mine but again, they ignored my request and continue to state that the debt was " validated '' with no physical proof nor explaining which method they used to do so. Recently, I sent in a letter of Notice to XXXX of Information to the creditor to let them know that per the FCRA, they MUST report accurate information only and once again, they ignored my claim and continued to state that all accounts were " validated ''. Time and time again they have continued to violate the FCRA guidelines.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a student loan borrower defense application. In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from Navient that theyve been informed from the Department of Education about my borrower defense application and would put the account on a 12 month administrative forbearance. In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from the Department of Education that a class action lawsuit had been filed against them due to their lack of responding the borrower defense applications. In that letter, it stated that the loan servicer is not allowed to attempt to collect the debt until after a decision is made on the lawsuit. I have another loan servicer for a loan not covered in the lawsuit that put the loan on hold for 3 years. Navient is still attempting to collect payments and harming my credit with incorrect and inaccurate statements. I contacted them to question their practice in XX/XX/XXXX, they sent me an email stating they have no record of such a notice from the Department of Education. Also, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Department of Education is unreachable and an order is in place that no student loans are supposed to have collection attempts. However, Navient is continuing to do exactly that. Their website has a posting that as of XXXX XXXX, that all payments and interest has been suspended until XX/XX/XXXX. However, Navient is continuing to add fees and interest and attempt payment collection.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: Divorce is messy, but its even worse if youve got a joint federal student loan consolidation. At the time we received the Federal Joint Consolidation Loan it was marketed to us as an opportunity to lower payments with no counseling on potential risk. My husband became XXXX XXXX and XXXX and the marriage ended in divorce after he XXXX XXXX XXXX. Despite the XXXX and XXXX suffered there is no way to separate a Federal Joint Consolidation Loan. There are few federal repayment plan options. I don't have login access to my account. I don't receive copies of my bills. Original bill was just at $ XXXX ( estimated ). The loan since graduation has grown to include over $ XXXX in interest and fees. My ex-husband is spitefully refusing to assist with payments and I have no recourse available to me. Normally a defaulted loan can be consolidated out of default. Given the fact that this is already a consolidated loan, the only was to get back into repayment is through rehabilitation. Congress and the Department of Education need to fix this issue NOW by allowing re-consolidation to Direct Loans for PSLF qualification and as a default cure. There should also be a mechanism for these loans to be split up in the event of a marital split. I've tried combing through and have asked for a detailed explaination as to how on earth the loan has accumulated over $ XXXX in interest and fees but Navient is not adequately able to do so.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have shared my cost expenses and loans received for my schooling with Navient customer service advisors, management, etc as they carry my loans service with University XXXX XXXX with no help just the same answer over and over. I explained the interest continuing to grow more and more and the payments that I was able to make ( over $ XXXX ) were applied to the interest and not much to the principal at all which interest continues to keep getting higher putting me further in debt. They promoted flexibility and convenience, which was anything but those. All the school would do in the beginning is stress how easy it is to the get the loans and it would be low interest with quick turn-around pay off after graduating. That was such false information and when I questioned the information after graduation all they would say is we highly suggest forbearance or deferments. Which in return just builds more and more debt. There was no assistance in lower income payments offered just the same said over and over. I requested numerous times for the low income payment program, but they kept advising the forbearance/deferment program instead and would talk over me. Now I am {$57000.00} in debt when the original note was under {$30000.00}. The financial assistance they keep telling me about was false and there was no guidance whatsoever. I have contacted Navient numerous times about my loans trying to get things ironed out about where my payments were applied and I would receive the same answer, we will review and see if adjustments can be made but in the mean time apply for the deferment program so that you can have a break in payments. How is that helpful it just increases more interest and nothing resolved.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I've been working to improve my XXXX XXXX and signed up with XXXX. I've been on an IDR Plan with Navient and in XXXX & XXXX, I was late with my IDR renewals and even though I was able to renew, Navient had already reported late payments to all XXXX credit bureaus. The dates are the following : XX/XX/XXXX - 90 days late XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX days late XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX days late XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX days late XX/XX/XXXX - 90 days late XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX days late XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX days late. All other months since XXXX are listed as current as agreed. During the above months, I was caregiver for my XX/XX/XXXX year old mother with XXXX who was declining rapidly. She passed away in XXXX, XXXX. I was so discombobulated during that time, that it took major effort to just put XXXX foot in front of the other. I was able to get the IDR renewed and everything has been fine since, but the erroneous late payments are on my reports, even though I wasn't required to pay on my student loans for those months. I was late renewing and not paying on my loans. These lates are having the most significant negative impact on my FICO scores. As a result, when I have attempted to get loans for my practice, I've had to go with companies who work with " high risk '' businesses with low credit scores. I did file an account dispute with XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and the result was that Navient would not remove the lates. I called Navient on XX/XX/XXXX and was told that XXXX law prohibits them from removing the late payments from my credit reports.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Navient is my loan servicer company who I signed up with them in conjunction with a company who is being sued for their illegal practices, the loan they are asking money for is from a school that defrauded me and all of its students the school was called XXXX University a brand of XXXX college. I contacted the department of education because I was defrauded by this school I applied for borrow defense and loan forgiveness I sent Navient a certified letter letting them know they need to contact the department of education in regards to my account, Navient never contacted them. I received notice from the department of education that I have been approved for loan forgiveness because it is a fact and has been proven that that XXXX University committed several crimes and defrauded students and that also the department of education issued predatory loans to students under false pretenses because the schools were proven in court not legitimate and the department of education did illegal things that is why they are being sued as well. Anyway I am writing you because Navient is harassing me and trying to collect money on a fraudulent school loan and you can not do that and Navients practices are illegal considering their is a lawsuit going on with the company that signed me up with them as well as the department of education. I do not want them affecting my credit and harassing me I have the proof of the loan forgiveness now wether Navient likes it or not they have to accept the loan has been forgiven and Navient has no claim to collect on a fraudulent school and it is illegal for Navient to try to collect money in that fashion when it has been proven that the school was a fraud. Also the highlight is that Navient is associated with companies that do loan repayments and those companies are being sued as well. My question is why you allow Navient to continue to operate when they have been sued already for their illegal practices? Navient changes nothing they victimize students trying to go to school to have a better life and that is digusting that nothing has been done with them and they are allowed to prey on people. Please do something! I have proof that my loan was forgiven and I have a receipt from certified mail that I sent Navient to tell them about my account and to contact department of education. I also have a copy from the department of education saying my loan was forgiven. But Navient still continues to harass me which is illegal considering the recent change in events.

Issue: False statements or representation

Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount

Consumer Complaint: This complaint is in reference to Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc., and the company they represent, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2020 I pulled a copy of my credit report to find that there is an additional balance for the same account yet only one balance listed on the statement I received in the mail. I also noticed that the account has an opening date listed with XXXX and XXXX but missing an opening date for XXXX and showing the account as closed. I contacted the debt collectors ( Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc. ) and requested proof of validation on the account. I also asked that all collection efforts cease and desist. In return I received a copy of an itemized list of the same information that I disputed and a copy of a promissory note from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. In review of the itemized list I noticed that there was a difference in the total balance and interest balance listed. On the statement dated XX/XX/2020 one part of the list showed the interest balance as {$580.00} and the other part of the statement showed the interest balance as {$700.00}. The statement also showed one part of the total balance as {$8100.00} and the other part as {$8300.00}. I then contacted Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc. requesting more proof of validation and I did not receive a response within the 30-day validation period. I made a final attempt at obtaining sufficient proof of validation on the account but was unsuccessful. I also requested that the inaccurate, misleading, invalidated account is removed but received no response to that request as well.
