Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising
Consumer Complaint: When I was XXXX years old and trying to figure out graduate loans, I contacted Navient ( previously known as Sallie Mae ) to gather information about my loan options. I was told that a private loan through Navient and the federal government is the same. I was then told that my interest rate could be lower than the federal government if I had my mother cosign. Unbeknownst to me and being that English is my mother 's second language, a private loan and a federal loan is the not the same. I have been unable to consolidate my private loan with my federal loan and therefore it does not count toward my public loan forgiveness. I was misled into my private loan and because of this my single mother has been unable to refinance her home for the last 10 years. Due to this mistake, I have also been paying almost double the amount in loan monthly payments for the last 10 years. I was only recently made aware that I could make a formal complaint and would have done so earlier should I have known.

Consumer Complaint: Navient reported delinquency of my private student loan during the height of the COVID19 ( XXXX-XXXX ) pandemic. The automated payments lapse, not because of inability to pay but limited and poor communication from Navient to re-establish payments. Once things were rectified in XXXX they proceeded to submit the negative history dropping my credit score 30 points. This has severely impacted my private practice as I have been declined credit to purchase additional equipment needed for my practice.

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I completed and mailed income repayment plan ( IBR ) documents and verification of Social Security and XXXX benefits to Navient on XX/XX/XXXX. I received a letter from Navient on XX/XX/XXXX. I called Navient to ask why they can not accept our verification of retirement income benefits. XXXX, a Navient IDR agent, informed me that our documents were not acceptable because they were not current. Although, my husbands Social Security verification letter was dated XX/XX/XXXX and my Social Security verification letter is dated XX/XX/XXXX both letters show our current benefit amounts and that these amounts have not changed. Documents I submitted clearly show that I have been receiving monthly Social Security Retirement benefits in the amount of {$1700.00} starting XX/XX/XXXX and that I will begin receiving {$1300.00} after taxes have been deducted on or about the third Wednesday of each month thereafter. I also attached verification of my federal ( OPM ) benefits and that amount is {$1800.00}. My husbands Social Security Retirement showed that starting XX/XX/XXXX, he would receive {$1800.00} on or about the second Wednesday of each month. My husbands XXXX verification form showed his federal pension amount is {$2800.00}. I am just not certain why Navient needs proof of my husband 's income as was in school from XXXX through XXXX and received student loans payments before I married my husband. I am just so frustrated with Navient. I was a federal employee for 25 years, from XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX. In XXXX when I inquired about loan forgiveness, Navient told me that they did not have a loan forgiveness program. I inquired again and applied for loan forgiveness in XXXX. At that time, I was told did not qualify for loan forgiveness as I would have to work an additional 10 years from the date I applied for the loan forgiveness program to qualify. I am XXXX years old. I have elderly parents. I needed to retire in XXXX to care for my ailing parents. There was no way possible that I would be able to work another 10 years. This is the second time I have applied for the IBR program. Last year when I applied, Navient gave me such a difficult time and now again, this year, they are putting me through a difficult time. I contacted Congresswoman XXXX XXXX 's XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and of today, I have not heard from them. Can you please help me resolve this issue?

Consumer Complaint: I have an alleged debt with Navient. Multiple private student loans. The last action by me on the loans was XX/XX/2020. Navient has included various false information about my loans over the last 5 years. First, they claimed that I was making intermittent payments on the loans so that the statute of limitations would be extended even though I was not. Then, they coded my loans as federal, not private, and therefore the charge off is still active even though the statute of limitations for my state is 4 years, and should be over now. I am unable to get a mortgage because of this. I have called them various times, they refuse to work with me and won't give me information about the coding of my loans.

Consumer Complaint: I am part of the Navient Lawsuit in Massachusetts. I recently was given notice in the mail about the lawsuit. I have some information that I never was able to discuss with anyone. I had called Navient in 2017 for enrollment into a IDR payment plan. They ignored my requests until I threatened that I would speak to a lawyer. They then approved my request, but then reenrolled me into a forbearance a few months later ( In-between they said my " deferment request was also approved '' ). The updates online were not consistent with the IDR that I was " approved '' for. They also called me over and over again for debt collection even though I was approved for the IDR plan. I have attached screenshots of emails that I have from Navient. I just wanted to file a formal complaint. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: Navient is reporting 3 student loan accounts with incorrect original delinquency dates, which is preventing them from aging off of my credit report. All of these accounts went into repayment per the promissory notes in XXXX, and they have never been brought current. However, Navient re-aged them in XXXX after my chapter XXXX bankruptcy plan was completed, and is reporting them with an original delinquency date of XXXX. They are scheduled to be removed in XXXX, but they should be deleted due to their age. I have attached the complete account history for all 3 loans and they show the 1st late fees charged on XX/XX/XXXX, which is the true original delinquency date. There have been some payments made to the accounts, but they were made involuntarily by my bankruptcy trustee during my chapter XXXX bankruptcy, which was from XXXX, & the amounts the trustee paid were not enough to bring any of the accounts current. I notified the creditor in writing with no response after 90 days, then reported to credit bureaus and have received no resolution after 30 days. I do not agree that I owe these debts, the accounts are over the statute of limitations in my state, and the accounts have been reported as delinquent on my credit report over the maximum reportable time per the FCRA.
