Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have been working with Navient for almost 6 years regarding my loan repayment. I have been in the Rate Reduction Program, which was beneficial in the beginning. The payments started out around {$430.00}, going up approximately {$150.00} every 12 months. When I called in XX/XX/XXXX to renew, I was told that the program has been changed to renewal every 6 months rather than every 12. The lowest payment they could give me was $ XXXX/month, with an increase to over {$900.00} in XX/XX/XXXX. I have recently gone through a divorce, so now I am on a very limited income, with XXXX small children who require my care. They are refusing to work with me at all regarding my payments. Also, on further inspection, Navient has doubled the principal amount on all of my loans. I have never given consent for them to increase my principal amount, nor is that listed as a provision of the repayment plan.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: In reviewing my credit report I noticed a couple of discrepancies. Subsequently, I reached out to Navient and inquired about the status of my loan during the time that the delinquencies were reported ( XXXX XXXX & XXXX XXXX ). Their correspondence to me confirmed my initial thoughts which were that my account was in forbearance beginning in XXXX of that year until XXXX of the same year, XXXX. After receiving their correspondence I wrote to have the two delinquencies retracted from my credit history. Their response was that they would not remove the inaccuracies because the delinquencies occurred before the forbearance start date. However, as indicated in their previous correspondence my forbearance spanned from XXXX till XXXX and the inaccurate reporting occurred in XXXX and XXXX.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have called Navient XX/XX/2020, XX/XX/2020, XX/XX/2020. They have used my Social security number and birth date to get XXXX XXXX 18 loans. Navient sent me to the Fraud department they want me to file a fraud report, but as I was speaking to a woman from Navient on XX/XX/2020 her response was Navient made a huge mistake and it's a serious one. I said yes it is. So I made the report on XX/XX/2020 I spoke to a XXXX from the Fraud department with no other identifying information, he refused to take the report number and state police reporting number which is XXXX and his name is XXXX XXXX. I told him what the lady had told me about how Navient made this huge mistake. And I did not think it was fraud at all. This woman does not know me, I do not know her and there is absolutely no way for her to get my information. This debt totals XXXX dollars. XXXX placed me on hold and put me on with a manager of Navient which she was laughing when she answered the phone s her and XXXX talked before she got on the phone. I explained that carrying out illegal actions is not funny! She refused to work with me as well. I told them I had spoken to an attorney. She told me that Navient took XXXX XXXX 's name off my social security number and birth date and placed mine on this debt. I advised her that this was illegal to do. A loan or server can not just take someone's name off a debt and put someone else 's name on it! Period! This is a legal document you have to have consent or wrote out another loan and go through the process. What Navient did by taking XXXX XXXX 's name off a binding document and placing my name on it is extremely illegal can't happen that way. Thus has caused so much damage to my life. But XXXX XXXX is getting a free education by the looks of things. But not on my watch.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: Navient reports incorrect information to purposely bring down my credit score. They reported that they have increased a student loan from {$1000.00} to {$9000.00}. I am on an income based repay plan and they should not be increasing my students loans in huge incorrect amounts just because they feel like it. They are trying to make it so that you never pay the loans off by increasing to incorrect amounts to benefit others.. Also, the balance with XXXX XXXX XXXX has not been updated. The credit bureaus are not updating the balances on accounts unless the balance fraudulently increases. They are a participant in the evil doings.

Consumer Complaint: I enrolled with XXXX college on XX/XX/XXXX and when I was enrolling I told them multiple times that I will be tribal and I was working on the rest of the paperwork that I am sending and let them know what the XXXX needed to see what they were gon na be paying for. I turned in the paperwork to the financial aid ( s ) ( we had assigned aids but they all helped and none of them talked to each other to keep updated so things always got mixed up ) and I went through 4 different people during my time there and one of them never sent the paperwork and made where the XXXX wouldn't pay for it and was telling me that everything was good and the XXXX was going to pay for it and they told me I still needed the loans because the XXXX will only pay for some of the school so I signed to get loans. A few months ago in XXXX this year, I was calling the XXXX about what happened with my stuff due to a completely different school and I asked them why they never paid for XXXX college because just with them I am sitting at least XXXX XXXX when I wasn't supposed to. They told me they never sent the paperwork. After that, I made a review on XXXX about XXXX college and my old head of my program ( XXXX ) contacted me after the comment was deleted off XXXX and she had a girl from financial aid call me and she was rude and blaming me and she told me as a student it was a must to do all the footwork and never know anything going on with the process about my financial she just didn't care as soon as I was talking about the situation you could tell by the tone of voice she didn't want to deal with it and she started to give me an attitude and also interrupt me multiple times and I was sick and tired of it because I know I am young but I know what they are doing is not right and I asked for her boss I talked to XXXX XXXX and she is the one that got me finally to talk to corperate well while I was talking to her and actually getting somewhere because while I was a student they refused to give me corperates number and told students the empolyees can't give it to students or basically they will get in trouble. As I was waiting for corporate to call XXXX ( which during all this she " quiet '' XXXX college ) and she was trying to " fix '' the issue even she was cutting me off and was saying she would look into it and I kept telling her I didn't want to talk to her I wanted to talk to her boss because while I was a student I had a student try to falsy accused me of cheating on an exam and she never helped me then so why do I need her help when I was there she never would talk to students and if someone had a problem she would run into her office ) so after she hung up on me corporate ( XXXX XXXX XXXX and I told him what was going on and he said with terrible I shouldn't have had the loans in the first place and that just put everything worse as he " investigated '' everything come to find out they didn't have anything on my profile none of my enrollment agreement or anything other than my loans and I told him just that seemed off because a few months prior in XXXX around XXXX I contacted whenthe guy I use to go through ( XXXX XXXX was there everything was on my profile. An they didn't have any type of explanation and told me to contact to the loan company. It took me over a month to get that answer from them because I didn't hear anything back I had to email so many times to get an answer. I have some documentation but it is all on/in email and also paper. I am not sure how ya 'll are wanting to do that. But I just want this issue fixed because I was told when en-rolling when I got out with the loans and XXXX I shouldn't have to pay anything back.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: The Options provided when making an overpayment are " No, advance my due date by the number of payments I cover '' or " Yes, Bill me for my future monthly payment ''. I wanted to make sure that my overpayment was applied to the principal of the loans I specified, but neither option made it clear how the overpayment would be handled. The first option about advancing the due date has an added line that " continuing to make payments will reduce your total cost of borrowing '' which in my opinion has been added to direct more people to click the first option. I called Navient XX/XX/2020 and spoke with a representative who did not seem aware of the options and implied that selecting the first option to advance the payments would also apply overpayments to the principal. She escalated the call to a supervisor who explained that the second option " Yes, bill me for my full monthly payment '' meant to apply the overpayment to the principal. I explained that this seemed intentionally misleading and that I would be filing a complaint. I was then transferred again to a special escalation team who said they would document and share my concerns.
