Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: To whom It may concern : Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this letter. I just pulled my credit report, and discovered that a late payments was reported on my account During that time, my mother fell terminally ill, and I was the only one left to care for her. As such, I had to leave my job, and my savings went toward her health care expenses. I fell on very rough times after she passed away, and was unable to make my student loan payments. I realize I made a mistake in falling behind, but up until that point, my payment history with you had been spotless. When I was able to gain employment once again, I quickly resumed paying my student loans, making them a priority. Im not proud of this black mark on my record, I would be extremely grateful if you could honor this request to remove the lateness from my credit report. It would help me immensely in securing other lines of credit so that I can further improve my credit score. If the lateness can not be removed entirely, I would still be appreciative if you could make a goodwill adjustment. Thank you.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 at XXXX I called my student loan provider, Navient, to discuss options to lower my private student loan payment. I explained that I needed relief for just this one month of XXXX because my pay had been reduced by the airline I fly for due to COVID-19. I was first told by the representative that I had ONE option, and that was to enroll in a reduced interest/payment plan for 6 months ( there was a second longer term that I forgot. ) She took my income information and the told me the new payment in the program would be XXXX cents, which was higher than the amount of the payment posted online for XXXX, XXXX. I then explained again that I am unable to make the XXXX cent payment. The representative then simply said 'No, there is nothing else we can do. '' I then explained that I would go insolvent on my bills and would not be able to make the payment. THEN, after making that statement, the representative explained that there was the other option of using a forbearance to delay my payment for another 30 days. This is one of several times I have been brazenly lied to on the phone about my options for delaying/reducing payments by Navient. Their customer service representatives will lie to you in order to make it seem as though you have no options, and then after the fact present ANOTHER option that was not mentioned before. How do they get away with this?

Consumer Complaint: I see several 120-180 days late marks which is a clear violation of my right under the FCRA. The company has never responded to any of my attempts to obtain any proof or documentation that will prove this account is being reported accurately.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I've been making loan payments until the National Emergency Forbearance ( per Navient website ) due to Covid-19. I was advised the deferment of interest and payment ( Student Loan Payment Relief ) was from the effective date of XX/XX/2020, During the period of 0 % interest ( XX/XX/2020 through XX/XX/2020 XXXX, the full amount of your payments will be applied to principal once all the interest that accrued prior to XX/XX/XXXX is paid. I noticed that payments on some accounts were applied to Interest even after the Cares Act enacted. I've contacted them via email and with documentation on XX/XX/2020 and have not received a status or update to my account ( s ) affected.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I took out an {$8000.00} private signature loan through Sallie Mae and XXXX XXXX XXXX with my grandmother as a co-signer. It became the biggest mistake of my life. This spiraled out of control as I was being sent letters now from XXXX for years before Navient as I was eventually getting phone calls from XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX, who somehow gave it to Navient inherited that debt somewhere in XX/XX/XXXX. Navient bought my Sallie mae " private signature '' loan and consolidated it into a federal obligation. I have tried to have this taken off my credit - but XXXX and XXXX listen to whatever Navient says. -Not one " servicer '', or any of its agents, ever, offer any clarification of why my private loan was somewhere else or provided any education me on my rights as a borrower in any of our phone discussions before being handed-down fr om one servicer to the next. - compare and contrast my ever-changing responsibilities for repayment. Not one e-mail, not one recorded phone call. - Explained how and where to get help if you need it - Provided knowledge on how to protect my credit rating - Reviewed deferment options - Highlighted the seriousness of defaulting and what will happen if that occurs -Provided any sort of reasonable repayment options other than forbearance. Or showed possible loan forgiveness options Nothing. Navient is listed as an " educational loan '' with 34 charge-offs on my credit report, yet, it's a 16- year old private loan that got manufactured into this federal loan from Sallie-Mae/ XXXX XXXX XXXX , I have yet to see a signed a promissory note and was unaware of " exit counseling " until I recently. It has impacted my life emotionally and financially I never understood what was going on and was never aware of alternative options that would benefit me greater than what they had in mind. They have marked me down for 39 charge-offs? I have tried speaking with Navient, but they get rude, XXXX listened and investigated before removing the item ; I ask XXXX and XXXX to explore deeper. I want to be able to not have this on my credit anymore. I am paying for other people not doing their job and not doing the right thing.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I stopped making payments on my student loan because of the COVID19 Pandemic. It was my understanding that under the CARES Act, Navient would not charge me with any Interest. I stopped paying Navient after my XX/XX/2020 payment was processed. At that point, I was CURRENT on my Student Loan. Between XXXX, XXXX and XX/XX/2020, Navient did not MAIL ME as single letter. I've asked them dozens of times to use the USPS and not my email or phone, etc.. My profile currently says " Not signed up to receive emails ''. AGAIN, I DID NOT HEAR FROM NAVIENT FOR MONTHS, I ASSUMED I WAS COVERED BY THE CARES ACT AND THEY DID NOT SEND ME ANYTHING TELLING ME THAT I WAS NOT COVERED BY THE CARES ACT!!! NOT ONE PIECE OF MAIL!!!!!! I submitted a payment of {$150.00} on XX/XX/2020 and Navient applied it 100 % of the payment to Interest! Then on XX/XX/2020, they added an additional {$230.00} to my PRINCIPAL as Capitalized Interest. Navient told me on a phone call that my Student Loan is a FFELP Loan that is currently owned & serviced by Navient. After researching my options online, I requested that the ownership of my loan be transferred over to the Department Of Education. Once the " ownership '' of my loan is transferred to the Department Of Education, Navient will still service my FFELP Loan, but I will be eligible for Interest FORGIVENESS under the CARES ACT. THIS IS A SCAM!!! NAVIENT SHOULD BE " COMPELLED '' TO EXPLAIN TO EACH CUSTOMERS WHOSE FFELP THEY " OWN '', THAT THE LOAN CAN EASILY BE TRANSFERRED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION!!! 100 % OF MY PAYMENT WENT TO CAPITALIZED INTEREST DURING THIS GLOBAL PANDEMIC!!! MY TOTAL LOAN BALANCE ACTUALLY INCREASED BY {$230.00} AFTER I MADE A {$150.00} PAYMENT. MY COMPLAINT : When I stopped paying Navient on XX/XX/2020, they did not send me a single letter! Also, Navient should be COMPELLED TO TELL CUSTOMERS THAT THEY CAN BENEFIT BY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS BY SWITCHING THE " OWNERSHIP '' OF THEIR LOAN TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION! NAVIENT IS MAKING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OFF THE BACKS OF HARD WORKING AMERICANS LIKE ME!!! INSTEAD OF BENEFITING FROM THE CARES ACT, CUSTOMERS LIKE ME ARE PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO NAVIENT FOR NO ADDITIONAL BENEFIT ... .. NAVIENT DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL " SERVICES '' TO CUSTOMERS LIKE ME. FOR ACCOUNTS THAT NAVIENT " OWNS '', THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL SERVICE OR OFFER SOME BENEFIT THAT JUSTIFIES THE {$380.00} THAT THEY JUST CHEATED ME OUT OF!!! THE CLOCK IS TICKING, NAVIENT TELLS ME IT CAN TAKE " 100 DAYS TO CHANGE THE OWNERSHIP OF MY ACCOUNT '' WHAT A SCAM!!!! If you have an FFELP ( Federal Family Education Loan Program ), call Navient and ask that the " OWNERSHIP '' of your account be changed to " Lender : U.S. Department of Education ''. Go to the website they provide and make the EASY CHANGES!! Wait 100 Days and NAVIENT CAN NO LONGER STEAL FROM YOU!!!!!!!!

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX on Friday XX/XX/20 an attempt to contact someone who does not live in my household, to collect a debt was attempted. They left a message. I researched who they were : Navient. I blocked them, as they called two more times. Once on XX/XX/20 leaving a message on Thursday, saying they're trying to get ahold of someone NOT living in my household, in attempt to collect a debt I save this message. After having blocked them, they called me on another number : XXXX, again at XXXX XXXX. Very early. My husband works until late at night. I attempted, and succeeded calling this number and was greeted with : Hello, is this XXXX ( Last name withheld for privacy )? I informed the lady it was illegal to attempt to collect a debt from someone who's debt is not me, and to stop contacting me. I expressed how upset I was, and I asked if they understood not to contact me again, or I will take action. I informed them that this was the second year in a row, that they have attempted to collect a debt FROM ME, or get personal information FROM ME about someone who is NOT ME, to collect a debt. This is now harassment to me. I do not want them to contact me, ever again in any way, shape or form. I have made this clear to this company, as they claim they record conversations, they have it on record, that I have told them. I am very upset by their constant harassment. PLEASE help to get them to stop. This is not my debt and I am highly upset by this, I was shaking so bad trying to express to this lady how upset I was, and sick of them calling me, even after they were blocked two years in a row. I hope she understood, because this is really bothering me. I am not XXXX XXXX, neither is he my husband.
