Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Navient keeps adding and taking away balances making my credit score change even though there is A ) a freeze on federal student loans and B ) There is a class action lawsuit and borrower defense involved. There should be NO activity on my student loans. The school that I attended ( XXXX XXXX ) has lost their accreditation and is on the verge of closing and I have been trying to fight the loan for a few years now being they were dishonest during orientation stating the credits would transfer to XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX and they wouldn't. The reason I asked if the credits would transfer is because at that point in time ( XXXX ) they did not have a XXXX program. They only had medical assisting classes. I wanted to get my degree in XXXX and was unable to because of this. If I chose to go to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, I would have to take every class over again. This was not fair to the students they lied to to get us to join their college in XXXX, VA. They also lied about job placement and the average income from medical assisting in the area making us believe that they had a contract with doctor offices or hospitals in the area. The most we could get an hour was $ XXXX {$17.00} after paying over {$50000.00} for their classes. This is highway robbery and VERY dishonest.

Ive spoken to multiple people and filed multiple reports and complaints attempting to have the loans removed from my responsibility for obvious reasons. Consumer Complaint: Recently the Education Department announced a group discharge for XXXX borrowers based on findings that the school misrepresented it's students. I attended XXXX from XXXX - XXXX and I have both federal and private loans. Also, in XX/XX/XXXX, my XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX application was approved to discharge my federal loans. My private loan is held by Navient. Navient will not discharge my priviate loans despite evidence the school I attended misrepresented me. Not only have they not agreed to discharge my private loans, they have increased my interest rate. The interest rate is so high, even making on time payments, I would never pay it off. I'm struggling to pay these Navient loans from attending a school that defrauded me. I have also file bankruptcy twice because I can not afford these high interest rate loans. I feel my private loans from Navient should be forgiven.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Old information reappears or never goes away

Consumer Complaint: I have attempted multiple times to get Navient and the Credit Reporting agencies to update my three private student loans. When I made a payment to Navient it was for my federal student loans, not my private loans. The private loans were from XXXX and were beyond reporting years even in 2017 when Navient claims I made my last payment and/or became delinquent. I paid my FEDERAL loans that were managed by Navient at the time, not my private loans. I have contacted XXXX and XXXX multiple times, as well as my husband since he is my co-signer on the private student loans with zero help. I've asked for a copy of whatever proof has been given to show the money went to the private loans, but all I receive is the comment " the creditor has verified that the date is being reported correctly. Additional information has been provided from the original source regarding this item. '' I have never, sadly, made any payments on my private loans that I took out for my XXXX at XXXX XXXX. I believed that all of my loans had been consolidated and only paid, minimal federal student loan payments. Navient is incorrect in reporting that I made a payment on my private loans and the money paid should have been posted to a federal loan payment that they were managing. I would appreciate any assistance in correcting this information on my credit report as well as my husband 's. I'm being punished for debt that is older than 14 years. Thank you in advance.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have an issue with Navient because they did not provide me with appropriate information so that I could make informed decisions that were in my best interest with regard to my student loans. On XX/XX/2022, I received a credit alert from my credit monitoring service letting me know that there was a change in my credit report. I then learned Navient had reported a 90-day past due status on my loan payments. Until that day, I believed my student loan payments could be paused through the end of 2022. I immediately reached out to Navient to investigate the issue and asked why they had reported my student loans 90 days past due since I understood that there was a pause on federal student loan payments until the end of 2022. The representative I spoke with advised me that they no longer had the contract to service federal student loans owned by the Department of Education and that loans were transferred to a new service provider. The representative advised me some of my loans were transferred while others were not. I advised the representative that I was never informed that as a result of this transfer, I now had two student loan servicers and that Navient was no longer contracted to service loans owned by the Department of Education. Up until that moment, they led me to believe they were my federal student loan provider and it wasnt until that day did I they advise me that they were actually a third-party commercial loan provider, thus any loans with them were not eligible for the student loan payment pause announced by the federal government. I explained to them that no one from Navient contacted me to tell me part of my loans were transferred to another loan provider nor did I receive any notification that part of my loans was out of forbearance as a result of Navient losing the contract with the Department of Education. I shared with them that I was confused about how I could have a 90-day late payment reporting on my credit report when up through XX/XX/2022, my accounts were in positive status with no late payments per my credit reports. The representative stated that they should have reached out and I reaffirmed with her that I had not spoken to anyone from Navient nor had I received any messages. I advised them that as a result of their lack of advice, I did not want them servicing my loans any longer. Adding insult to injury, my original loan balance has grown from {$78000.00} to {$130000.00} with interest and fees, which I also believe is partially related to their lack of communication. The representative advised me that I could consolidate my loans with the service provider who was now managing my other student loans ( those that had been transferred ). When I asked the representative how to resolve this serious issue I had with credit reporting, the representative advised me to contact the credit reporting agencies with my dispute ; however, after reaching out to the credit reporting agencies, they informed me it is something I would need to resolve with Navient. I called Navient back later that same day and was informed of the process for disputing credit reporting and filed my claim accordingly. I received a letter on XX/XX/2022, stating they conducted their investigation and would not be removing the XXXX reporting from the credit reports. I reached back out to Navient and asked what I could do to escalate my complaint. The representative advised me they could not reverse it nor was I able to appeal the decision. They advised me the only options I had was to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or arbitration.

Consumer Complaint: I attended the University of XXXX XXXXXXXX in the XXXX 's and early XXXX 's and originally owed about {$20000.00} and now with fees and interest, I owe more than {$100000.00} BECAUSE OF SYSTEMIC FRAUD IN THE STUDENT LOAN SYSTEM. Basically, MY LOANS KEEP GETTING SOLD AND RESOLD AND THERES BEEN NO COMMUNICATION IN THE PROCESS - PAYMENTS RETURNED - AND CONSTANT DEFAULT. I never know who my lenders are, what loan are in play and my payments get returned because the lender has changed and meanwhile, I go into default. This is a scam and for my student loans balance to have more than quadrupled is unfair and illegal based on the scam they have perpetuated against me and no doubt others. I believe this is a class-action issue. There have been NUMEROUS LENDERS OR SERVICER and I can only recall NAVIENT as being a primary source of this fraud BUT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS!!!!

Consumer Complaint: Went into XXXX XXXX bankruptcy in XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX, before Bankruptcy was on a rate reduction plan. I tried three years during the end of his time in college, and after was able able to get refinanced into my name only.
