Issue: False statements or representation
Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: Dishonest and unfair collection practices. Also, no follow through on dispute they stated they would initiate ( on XX/XX/XXXX and reconfirmed on XX/XX/XXXX ). Note : I filed a complaint with the XXXX in the past week and they are allegedly putting my account in dispute and notifying the National credit Bureaus of this. I am filing this complaint with CFPB as I don't trust them and filing this complaint with CFPB was also advised by XXXX in the letter they sent me end of XXXX, XXXX. National Credit Systems , Inc of XXXX GA. mailed me a letter in XX/XX/XXXX, claiming that they are collecting a debt for XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, NE. Their letter stated that they reported my account to three national credit bureaus, would take legal action to collect, etc. Meanwhile XXXX mailed me a letter notifying me that they received a report that added negative information to my credit file. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted a Rep at National Credit systems to find out what this collection was all about, since it was XXXX XXXX that owed me and not the other way around. The Rep went over the fees I was being charged ( {$650.00} total ) and every entry, except one ( {$50.00} fee for utilities from the time I vacated, XX/XX/XXXX, until new tenant took possesion the first week of XX/XX/XXXX ), were false. As I recall the rest was : {$72.00} for repairs I was never informed of by XXXX XXXX XXXX ( Note : My apt was left in pristine condition and I have photos to prove it ), {$280.00} for a prorated portion of XX/XX/XXXX, rent. ( at {$600.00} per month, that would have been for 14 days. However, the Apt was re-leased out the first week of XX/XX/XXXX ), {$240.00} for garage rental ( {$55.00} per month, apparently I was responsible to continue to pay the rent for it until re-rented or until the end of my apt lease, the end of XX/XX/XXXX. However, the garage was in need of repair, it was leaking, roof damage and gutters not cleaned out, and they never attended to it, so no surprise if they in fact were not able to re-rent it. Even if true, the figure would be incorrect ( would be {$210.00}, not {$240.00} ) I had already paid for the entire month of XX/XX/XXXX, so had a credit of {$26.00}, not sure where the other {$10.00} comes from. Besides, there was nothing in my contract that said that. The Rep also stated that my security deposit was forfeited as I " broke my lease '' so that would not be applied to my so-called " debt ''. Note : It was " constructive eviction '' and I was well within my rights to leave. Besides, as stated above the Apt was re-leased almost immediately after I vacated. I provided her with detailed information and she agreed to put my account in dispute. Meanwhile over a month had gone by since the dispute was filed and no word back. Also, I received yet another letter from a National Credit Bureau ( XXXX ) about a report they received which added negative information to my credit file, dated XX/XX/XXXX. Prior to all this I had nothing negative on file for years, in fact, my credit score was in the lower 800s as of XXXX, XXXX. I was also in the process of re-negotiating my interest rate on credit cards and working out financing for my first home purchase. I am a self-supportive, senior citizen and have worked very hard for years to have excellent credit. My not paying this so-called debt has nothing to do with whether or not I can afford it. It has everything to do with my integrity and my refusal to submit to extortion for funds I do not truly owe. Further, I was able to locate the intial letter mailed to me last XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX and comparing this to what the Rep mentioned above told me, I was to be credited with my {$250.00} security deposit, there was no damage ( carpet cleaning was showed as a debit and a credit as it is normal wear and tear ) and there was no entry whatsoever for me to pay {$280.00} for 14 days of XX/XX/XXXX rent. Also, it should be noted that I filed a CFPB complaint on XXXX, when it should have been filed on National Credit Systems. XXXX investigated and were outright lied to by National Credit Systems, who claimed the debt was correct and withheld the fact that the debt was in put in dispute as of XX/XX/XXXX. Also note, I specifically asked for a statement showing the breakdown of the debt when I first spoke to the Rep. She agreed to email it to me same day and when I called to follow up the next day, she made up some excuse as to why she couldn't email it to me and stated my account was in dispute, so I let it go.

Consumer Complaint: I have reason to believe that this debt may have been the result of an identity theft. Based on the information provided in my report specifying that I owe an amount of {$6700.00} for an apartment at XXXX XXXX. This information is completely false and inaccurate seeing that I never lived at this apartment location, nor is the address being reported on my credit. It makes no sense at all and I wish to address this matter with your consumer bureau. I have been struggling to resolve this matter for almost five years now and it has been one heck of a journey.

Consumer Complaint: I rented from XXXX apartments in XXXX. I broke my lease, gave more than 60 day notice. The management company was to send me a bill to my home address, because they did not calculate the final move out bill ( {$580.00} ). The company lost my address and never sent me the final bill, did not call. I called management 3 times to ensure my file was satisfied. They changed management companies, lost my file and slapped me with a collections charge of {$690.00} months later. 1 ) Charge is too high 2 ) management negligence caused this to happen 3 ) I was not allowed to speak to management after it went into collections. Here is the latest letter they sent me : XX/XX/XXXX Current Creditor : XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX Balance : {$690.00} Enclosed you will find copies requested. If a balance is remaining on your account ( see above ), you may send payment in full to National Credit Systems , Inc . Otherwise, you may contact our office immediately at ( XXXX ) XXXX. It is important to know that National Credit Systems , Inc. is a third party debt collection agency whose efforts are solely on behalf of the current creditor who has previously validated this debt

Consumer Complaint: National Credit Systems posted an erroneous charge to all 3 credit bureaus, I contacted them and the rep I spoke with had no desire to rectify the situation. I contacted the business ( XXXX XXXX ) to get this removed from creditor and credit bureaus and no-one has returned my calls. I received a refund of my security deposit and left my lease in good standing, no property damage and was never a problem resident of that property when I lived there. They are dragging my credit through the mud and not trying to find the truth, they are only concerned with STEALING money from a single mother and Veteran.
