Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: This is a complaint from XXXX XXXX against National Credit Ssytems for National Credits failure to provide requested information for the debt alleged. OnXX/XX/18, consumer, received a demand letter from creditor, National Credit. On XX/XX/18, consumer ( through legal counsel ) responded with a written request for documentation, including the following : a. Signed copy of the original contact ( s ) ; b. Any notice ( s ) of assignment or receipt of sale of the debt alleged ; c. Any notice ( s ) of delinquency ; d. Ledgers/spreadsheets/accounting statements showing how the debt alleged was accrued ( including any fees and interest charges added to this debt ) ; e. A copy of your debt collection rights license ; f. Proof that you are licensed to collect this debt in Arizona ; and g. Any other documentation which tends to show validity. National Credit responded on XX/XX/18 with a letter including only statements from the original account. These statements do not show National Credit 's authority to collect on the debt. Creditor 's failure to respond to a consumer 's good faith request for documentation makes it impossible for the consumer to make an informed decision regarding the debt alleged. This is a violation of USC 1692, and other federal acts which require lenders and debt collectors to act in good faith and refrain from unfair deceptive or abusive acts.

Consumer Complaint: National Credit Systems is attempting to collect a debt I do not owe. I had a lease with an apartment complex XXXX XXXX XXXX that was managed originally by XXXX originally ( management changed after I left ). This management company offers leases to students for the time of their school year ( 6 months, 9 months and 12 months ). I signed a 9 month lease with them. The entire lease payment was made through my scholarship. I have provided the email conversations of coordination of that payment. After my 9 months, the new management company attempted to accelerate the lease and charge me for additional months and fabricated damages and incredible cleaning charges that amounted to {$7000.00}. I have learned that such scams are common with some unscrupulous management companies to continue to suck revenue out of past tenants and provide an additional income source. The Consumer Finance Protection Bureau needs to research this not only for me..but for all of the other students who have fallen into this trap.

Consumer Complaint: Me and my wife were living at XXXX XXXX XXXX for almost a year starting around XX/XX/2015. In that time we never missed a payment nor was late on a payment. By XX/XX/XXXX we had received no notice of a change in rent but I did know the lease was coming up soon so I went to talk to leasing office about resigning the lease for another year. I was then told by leasing office our rent was going up over XXXX dollars due starting next month with no type of notice at all. The rent was too much for us so I put in a written notice saying we will have to move out next month. After we moved I was called by apartment saying we owed money which wasn't true because we paid that last month we were there. We even went back to the apartment and tried to explain but they said they would not remove it and the balance had to be paid. Months passed and i see a debt collection from the apartment for XXXX dollars. When I tried to dispute it with XXXX they did not remove it. In conclusion we were not given notice of our Rent changing so drastically and a written notice was given so we should not have had a debt at all.

Consumer Complaint: Throughout the past several years I have received several letters stating I owe an unpaid debt for the amount of {$380.00} to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX addressed to a person named XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have a similar name and can only assume that is why I am being sent the letters. Each time I have received the letters I have notified the collection company to inform them that I do not owe the debt as I have never lived at these apartments and that the letter is addressed to an individual with a similar name as mine. Each time I have been asked a few questions as to my identity and have been told the letter is for a different person and the letters temporarily cease. However, eventually I received other letters and would like the company to cease and desist all further attempts to collect this debt from me that someone else owes them.

Consumer Complaint: I sent a Debt Validation letter to National Credit Systems and I haven't received anything showing alleged original paperwork from original creditor.I sent a certified letter to them and never received nothing back.Right then it was supposed to be removed from my credit report due to failed no response or proof.I also sent a certified letter of a settlement just to get rid of alleged debt but off was rejected. Also the person I spoke with states he's a supervisor after I ask for another supervisor he states he's the only one, right off I don't feel comfortable.I asked Mr XXXX for at least a settlement agreement in writing stating once alleged debt of agreed settlement was paid that account would be deleted from all credit reporting agencies and so on, he states he can't do that.
