Consumer Complaint: M & T Bank has a 30 day late payment on my report for XX/XX/2017. This information is incorrect as I should have 100 % payment history on report. I reached out to M & T bank they could not pull my records the first call. The 2nd call I was told that they do not and can not remove the item. I would just like this incorrect info removed from my report

Issue: Problem with fraud alerts or security freezes

Consumer Complaint: I'm making this complaint about M & T Bank without contacting the bank because it feels like they are doing something that is illegal. I opened a bank and savings account with M & T Bank about 3 weeks ago. M & T Bank locked me out of my online account twice, once when I tried to initially log onto my new account, and a second time when I tried to set up a new payee in online bill pay. Both times M & T placed what they called " fraud alerts '' on my account. Because M & T 's online banking system didn't work well, I decided to open a different bank account. I will eventually close my M & T account. Today I tried to open a new account at a different bank ( XXXX ). However, I was denied an account. The banker thinks it's most likely because of the fraud alerts M & T has put on my name. The banker said all banks would have received this derogatory " fraud alert '' information about me. Is it legal for a bank to put a " fraud alert '' on me or my credit report without my knowledge or permission? Neither time was fraud. The first time M & T put a fraud alert on me was because I didn't log into my new account fast enough. I had a temporary password, and the password expired before I logged in. That was my mistake, but does M & T have the right to issue a " fraud alert '' on my credit report? The second time they made a fraud alert was when I tried to set up a new payee for my online bill pay. I don't know why, but M & T put a fraud alert on my credit report just because I tried to add a new payee to bill pay. This seems crazy! Now I'm not able to open a new bank account anywhere because M & T put fraudulent " fraud alerts '' on my credit report. I feel like M & T is committing fraud. They're also ruining my credit when all I tried to do was log into my online banking and pay bills. Both times M & T issued a fraud alert, I called them and cleared it up and got access to my account. But now my credit is ruined. I hope you can help with this.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, I called customer service at M & T Bank, where I have a checking account. I asked about the policy related to the negotiation of a USPS money order. I was told that maybe the XXXX, Maryland branch would cash it, but my funds could be held for up to five days. I attempted to cash the {$1000.00} USPS money order at M & T Bank, XXXX, Maryland. First, the cashier said that she could not cash it. The manager then stated that I could deposit the USPS money order in the ATM and withdraw {$250.00}. I deposited the money order and was not able to withdraw {$250.00}, so the manager overrode the system, giving me {$250.00}. However, this caused my account to be overdrawn. I then received a highly offensive letter from M & T Bank dated XX/XX/2021 stating that " We have information that indicates that the check may not be paid '' -- essentially accusing me of the unlawful act of attempting to pass a fraudulent money order ( they referred to it as a " check '' in this offensive letter ). This offensive letter further stated, quite falsely that, " These funds will be available on the 5th business day after the day of your deposit. Ten calendar days and seven business days have passed, and I still do not have access to my funds. M & T 's app and website both indicate that I have an available balance of $ XXXX, yet when I attempted to transfer funds to my other bank account, I received an extremely offensive email that fraud had mostly likely occurred on my account. I called M & T 's customer service again. The agent " promised '' me that my funds would be available by the morning of XX/XX/2021 -- erroneous and false information. Relying upon this false statement XXXX, once again, attempted to transfer funds to my other bank this morning, XX/XX/XXXX. I was unable to transfer my funds as they are still not available. Since depositing my USPS money order, each time I have attempted to access my account, whether via the app or the website, I am asked security questions. This is also quite offensive to assume your customer is a criminal for depositing a financial instrument. I called customer service, yet again, this morning. I spoke with the first helpful customer service agent, a supervisor named XXXX. She informed me that although I had received assurances that my funds would be available, a fraud investigation has been launched and she did not know when my funds would be available.

Consumer Complaint: I have filed two prior complaints today regarding M & T Bank. The first was a general complaint and the second was regarding the offensive manner in which M & T Bank communicates with customers. This third complaint is about the multiple sources -- customer service agents, the app and the website -- of false and misleading information stating that my funds are available while they are not. On XX/XX/2021 I deposited a USPS money order into my M & T Bank account in XXXX, Maryland. I had called M & T Bank 's customer service ( as I am new to Maryland ), to determine M & T Bank 's policies on cashing USPS money orders. The agent told me that the bank could, maybe, cash it for me or it could take five business days for my funds to become available. I received an extremely offensive letter dated XX/XX/XXXX from M & T Bank basically accusing me of passing a fraudulent financial instrument, stating " We have information that indicates that the check may not be paid. '' Nevertheless, this offensive communication stated that my funds would be available in five business days. Within five business days, M & T Bank 's app and website both stated that my funds are available, but they were not. I called customer service again was was " promised '' that my funds would be available this morning, XX/XX/XXXX. My funds are still not available. I called customer service, yet again, and the first informed agent I have spoken with, XXXX, a supervisor, stated that my funds would not be available until a pending " fraud investigation '' was completed. M & T Bank 's multiple false and misleading statements by customer service agents, in its offensive written communication, on its app and on its website regarding the availability of my funds from a USPS money order are, at the least, not in keeping with acceptable customer service practices.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I deposited a USPS money order into my account at M & T Bank, XXXX, Maryland. Since then I have not had access to my funds as they are not available, even though M & T Bank 's letter of XX/XX/XXXX stated that my funds would be available in five business days. This letter was quite offensive and basically accused me of the unlawful act of passing a fraudulent financial instrument. Moreover, M & T Bank 's app and website both state that my funds are available. Unfortunately, I reasonably relied upon M & T Bank 's multiple patently false and misleading statements about the availability of funds my M & T Bank account. These false statements regarding the availability of funds in my account were published in its offensive written communication and on both the app and on the website. Customer service also " promised '' me that my funds would definitely be available on the morning of XX/XX/XXXX. Therefore, having a reasonable belief that these false and misleading statements from multiple M & T Bank sources were true, I have twice attempted to transfer funds to my other bank. I am unable to complete the transfers and have received additional offensive emails stating that fraud has probably occurred on my account. All this because I had an entirely reasonable belief, based upon M & T Bank 's false and misleading statements that my funds are available ; and was simply attempting to transfer my own funds to my other bank. I called customer service at M & T Bank and was informed that my funds are not available as a hold has been placed on my funds while M & T Bank does a " fraud investigation. ''

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I attempted to cash a USPS money order on my account at M & T Bank, XXXX, Maryland. I have submitted a complaint about the indefinite hold on my funds. This complaint is to address M & T Bank 's patently false and misleading statements regarding the availability of my funds in its offensive written communications, its app and website. Although I deposited a USPS money order, my funds are being held indefinitely while M & T treats me as a criminal and does a " fraud '' investigation. Yet, on both the app and website it states that my funds are available. They are not! This is patently false and misleading as nobody can tell me when my funds will be available. Moreover, I received an extremely offensive letter from M & T misinforming me that my funds would be available in five business days. Ironically, while treating me like a criminal, M & T is actively providing false and misleading information about the availability of my funds on its app and website.

Consumer Complaint: I lave a auto loan with M & T bank ( loan number XXXX ). I have sold my XXXX XXXX because we don't need that many cars so I have the money to pay off this loan. I sent the final payment through my XXXX bank. The XXXX bank check was cashed by M & T bank XXXX XX/XX/XXXX but M & T did not post it as XX/XX/XXXX. I called them and sent message totem several time but they keep deny received it. Even give the details of their stamp on the back of check. Then one customer service reperesentive asked me to pay {$15.00} more by saying in case the payment was late so I have to pay the daily interest. I did pay {$15.00} as asked. However, they closed my account and blocked me to access my account online this morning so I don't know the final balance and what they are going to do withy Title. To me this is a fraud, cheating. It is also wrong closing my account and XXXX me to access my account online within a day.
