Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I opened up a business bank account with M & T for my film production company XX/XX/XXXX. Within that process they sent me checks through the mail. The checks never arrived and I then looked at my bank account to check if my producer wired money to my account. He did, but I then discovered that someone was signing checks and stealing my newly funds. I immediately called the bank. The banker XXXX XXXX said she had called me. I then told her she should had frozen my account because the signature wasn't nearly close to mine. I also told her that she should have reached out and told me that she suspected suspicious activity on account. I then went to the bank to sign 5 Affidavit Of Forgery documents XX/XX/XXXX ( Checks for {$930.00}, {$840.00}, {$890.00}, {$920.00}, and {$910.00} ). They then started me a new business bank account and said they would keep the old business account open until the investigation is done. Months went by and XXXX hadn't helped nor contact me with updates. I then filed a report about the checks to The United States XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. By this time branch manager XXXX XXXX then took over the account complaints. She was very nasty to me and sometimes would completely ignore my emails. So I then tried to reach out the bank 's customer service and it didn't help. I then went into another branch and a banker by the name of XXXX XXXX tried to to contact XXXX XXXX and help me and it didn't work. Eventually they also deleted the account where the fraudulent activity occurred and havent reached back out to me. Its been a very long two years of trying to get my money back. I felt so lost that my small business lost this much money causing my business to go into debt. Recently my mom notified me about XXXX so Im now reaching out for help.

Consumer Complaint: I was negatively impacted financially during XXXX and was unable to keep up with payments on my XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX M & T Bank. I explained the situation to them and they were able to put me into the government forbearance program to help me through this. I was working as a realtor at that time and most of my income derived from property management fees. Due to XXXX many tenants were able to apply to defer their rent payments which meant that I did not get paid. I am filing this complaint because the bank is refusing to work with me or help me since my forbearance ended. I have been unable to get any type of help to deal with the deferred payments from the forbearance and M & T has taken action to put me into foreclosure. I then filed bankruptcy to protect my home and my family and begin repaying the past due payments. However, the bankruptcy is being dismissed and I need them to work with me and I believe there are VA programs available to help me fix this, but their agents are denying access to these options. I have lived in my home with my wife and adult son since XXXX and purchased in XXXX. I served on a submarine in the XXXX for 4 years and have been classified as partially XXXX due to conditions related to my service. I never had an issue making the mortgage payment until XXXX hit our state in spring XXXX. As explained I was a realtor at the time and most of my business came through property management but shortly after XXXX started many tenants could not pay rent and they were granted government protection to stay in their home and not pay rent which was great for them, but destroying my business. In XXXX I contacted M & T and was put on a forbearance plan XXXX months. Before the plan expired their agents told me to apply for a loan modification to address the past due payments. I got approved and my payment went up a XXXX XXXX dollars and they gave me a first payment date in two weeks. I had just started a new job and due to Covid hardship I had absolutely NO resources and did not have the $ $ for the first payment on the due date. I called in to speak with M & T agents to request making the first payment 5 days late, because I had no way of getting that type of money together until I got my first check. I was told that the underwriter would consider this revised due date, but never heard back from anyone and when I called in to make the first payment 5 days late I was told that the modification was no longer available and that the only XXXX M & T would accept was full reinstatement of all past due amounts. After being kicked out of first modification, I applied again and this time it was denied and I never found out why. I was approved XXXX XXXX earlier and my financial information was the same. It was fluke error that the payment on the first modification was not made on time and I informed them and asked for an extra 5 days. XXXX M & T Bank turned its back on me and since I could not get any assistance from them I filed XXXX XXXX bankruptcy. I have made bankruptcy payments of {$1500.00} from XXXX through XXXX of XXXX. This covers the mortgage loan payment and the arrearages. The mortgage statements that I have received from M & T do not appear to accurately reflect the money that has been paid through bankruptcy and I want to see an accounting ledger to document all funds collected by M & T and the application of these funds. Since the bankruptcy is dismissed I am fearful that they will quickly move forward and re-start the foreclosure process on my home. Since the last review for modification in XXXX there has been a change in financial circumstances. I now work in product shipping and receiving logistics and my income is steady. Additionally my adult son who lives with us works full time at a steel plant in fabrication and manufacturing. He is helping us out with the bills.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX a Partial Claim note was signed by the sole mortgagor of our home. There was what I believe to be a breach in compliance of the Truth and Lending Act. I being added to the deed in XXXX of XXXX, although not added to the mortgage, am on the deed with right of survivorship. I was never notified that the Partial Claim in the amount of {$9000.00} was extended and encumbered by the property. I don't believe the bank did a title search to see there are 2 People on the Deed.

Consumer Complaint: This is a follow up to a complaint filed yesterday for this same issue. In the last XXXX hours I have been continually materially impacted by incorrect information and misrepresentations made by the repossession department at M & T. I was told by M & T representatives that in order to release my vehicle, they needed the towing company to respond with total costs so they could add it to my payoff balance. I was told to wait and that this could take several hours. After nearly a full day I simply began calling tow companies locally. I was told by M & T employees on XX/XX/17 that they were not at liberty to disclose the towing company or location of my car as a matter of protecting the outside company. After simply calling a few companies I found that XXXX XXXX, a local tow company, had my car and was more than willing to let me know exactly where it was and how much the costs were associated with the tow. Not only did she tell me that the costs are always the same, she told me that this bank in particular ( M & T ) continuously holds up repossessed cars from being reclaimed by their owners for this reason. Furthermore, she informed me that her company had immediately sent all necessary information to M & T the morning that they took my car. There will be at least XXXX instances on the recorded line of M & T employees claiming that they did not have that information when in fact it had been provided before the bank had even opened that day. After speaking with the tow company I called back to M & T and was told, again, that the information was not available and I would have to wait. When I informed the representative I was speaking with that I had called to the tow company and learned that they had in fact furnished the needed information I was told " it ain't gon na make a difference ''. The M & T representative said that my speaking with the tow company did not matter and I would simply have to wait. At that point I asked for identifying information for the call so I could reference it in the future. At that point I was put on hold before the representative came back on and told me that suddenly the company did in fact have the information they needed and I was next on the list to be called. After several hours I received a call back giving me directions on how to pay my loan balance and was told that I would need to bring cash or a certified check in the amount of {$1600.00} to an M & T location so I could have my car released. This will be on the recorded line on XX/XX/17 around XXXX. When I arrived at the M & T Location with a certified check for {$1700.00} I was told that the payoff amount was in fact {$2000.00} and that I would need to use the ATM ( for a fee of course ) to pay the remaining balance. At nearly every juncture of what was already a critically damaging moment for my family and I, M & T bank has proven unable to furnish me with accurate information, or provide systems that can be relied upon. The lack of professionalism or attention to detail in any company would be shocking. The fact that this organization is XXXX families rely on to perform critical functions in their financial lives is frankly horrifying.

Consumer Complaint: My mortgage company has mistakenly paid the property taxes of a parcel I do not actually own - resulting in a debt with the City Of XXXX on my parcel that I paid with my own money. I have called the mortgage company since XXXX and they have acknowledged the mistake- yet as of today I have not received my money back. I am calling them on a weekly basis and every time the operator is surprised like the issue is completely new and takes not real action. Sometimes they claim to escalate, sometime they say they put a note on my file, another time they asked me to upload proof of payment on my side, but nothing is happening. I do not see the end of the tunnel and could really use some help on the matter. Thank you, XXXX

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX M & T bank repossessed my car for late payment despite my best efforts to pay. My experience with their systems has been terrible. Phone tree systems do not work properly and frequently disconnect. Employees deliver incorrect and unclear information. Payment systems seem to not work well. Mobile app frequently malfunctions. Communications from the bank are inconsistent with some months missing. When requested employees claimed the bank had attempted to contact me and to leave voicemails but the inbox was full. I know this not to be true and could provide records of that fact. The bank seems to make payment and contact intentionally difficult to create opportunities for late charges and additional fees.

Consumer Complaint: I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and constituent of Texas, seeking your assistance and intervention regarding a grave issue I have been facing with my mortgage company, M & T Bank. My husband and I are both Veterans of the XXXX XXXX. I recently discovered alarming discrepancies in my attempts to make appropriate payments to my mortgage company and am working exhaustively to rectify the situation. However, there are several issues and potentially unlawful actions by my mortgage company, which have led to significant financial losses for my family. The issues I have encountered include M & T Bank rejecting my payments and not returning them, giving my husband and me incorrect information as to where our money is and how to obtain it back, conflicting communications and timelines, and stating that they can only call either my husband or myself, once per day. These actions not only violate the terms of our agreement but have also placed an unjust financial burden on my family and put my home at risk. My husband and I have made copious attempts to address these issues directly with M & T Bank, but their response has been unsatisfactory and uncooperative. I believe that my mortgage company 's actions may be in violation of state and federal laws, and I am seeking your assistance in holding them accountable for their actions. I appreciate your attention to this matter, as our home and our XXXX children are at risk. Thank you and I hope you have a good day and God bless. XXXX XXXX
