Consumer Complaint: I called the customer service phone number for XXXX XXXX to request a refund for services, but unfortunately the number connected me to a scammer. The scammer tricked me into believing they had deposited excess money ( by transferring money from my savings to checking without my knowledge ) in my checking account which I then had to return to them by wire. They stated to return it to a person associated with XXXX as they could not give me the XXXX account information. I realized what had happened within XXXX hours and called M & T to discuss the issue. The fraud investigation I initiated provided little information and I was told to get subpoenas from the police ( in process ) for additional information ( such as the timing of the movement of the money ). No written fraud report was provided to me, but the sheriffs detective did report some details verbally ( see attached document ). I also provided M & T a letter ( on the advice of the detective ) documenting why I did not feel they performed their due diligence at the time of the wire transfer and the text of this letter is attached under documents. I have not yet had a reply to this letter, though my contact by phone is the M & T Employee XXXX at XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I took my XXXX XXXX XXXX son to the bank to withdraw some money. I came into the bank about 10 or 15 minutes after him. I walked up to the teller with him waiting. I said he has an account already with you it's a joint account with me My son said I closed that account. The teller said yes the joint account is closed. So I'm standing there in shock like huh..what..how. My son said he opened up another account. Okay fine but nobody told me I didn't have a checking account.So I said wait a minute M & T sent me a new card, and I didn't activate it and was going to call and ask why I have a new card. Nobody told me..at this point I'm confused. Why would they closed my account without notifying me. I asked the girl why would y'all do that without contacting me. She says.she don't know.. ( like she's just a bank teller. ) And before I found all that out I said I'm going to deposit {$25.00} into that account..then I ask her why did you send me a new card. She ask me did I activate it..I told her no because I was thinking something is weird and was coming in to see if it was from M & T Bank a real card. She says yes and I showed her my other M & T card I received earlier this year..so now I'm confused. She checked it and said oh this is linked to your savings account which I don't really use.And I asked her what is the new card you sent me for she said oh that card is a savings card too. Unbelievable why would I have two new savings card.Then she asked me oh do you want to open up a Checking..I told her No, I'm Done!.. And the office manager XXXX lady looks at me surprised and like the UT ole look. She heard me when I said so y'all closed my checking without me..no notifying me. They didn't notify me when the account was closed or nothing. My XXXX XXXX XXXX son came in opened up an account with a large personal injury check and all they seen was a large transaction for their bank. And whatever he says.. Okay sir. They threw me to the curb back stabbed me didn't say well your mom needs to sign to close this account. Or just took his name off the account and left me with my checking account. I'm so upset how they done that to me. I had plans to deposit a sum if money next month. Guess not! They disrespect me and let a XXXX ; year old just come in and close accounts without asking for the other party.

Consumer Complaint: I was advised by XXXX a teller at this branch to bring my husband 's payroll check which is draw on m & t into the branch on friday XX/XX/XXXX Because we were mobile depositing and we had almost exceeded the {$4000.00} mobile deposit monthly limit. I was advised at the branch by XXXX that the check was cashed and put into the account as cash. Just moments of leaving the branch I Attempted to sign into my mobile banking before paying bills and realized I was locked out. I then called the number provided to see why my online banking was locked out. I was informed that my entire account was locked out due to an issue with the check that had been deposed into my account. The gentleman that spoke with me on the phone 's name was XXXX. He advised me several times that there was an issue with the check That was just deposited at the branch to which I said it should have been deposited as cash. And he continued to advise me that the issue with with that check and that the account was locked down for fraud. And I would not have access to my money until at least the next friday. At that point I immediately turned around and went back to the branch where I spoke to XXXX. The manager who told me that my account was not only frozen But it was going to be closed out completely because I paid my mother 's XXXX XXXX. And because I was in check systems from XXXX. I proceeded to tell her that I live with my mother and as well, I am her power of attorney and that I have all right to pay any bill of hers that I need to and that this was not fraud. I offered to bring my mother in and have her added to the account incase that was the issue. I also offered to bring all of my power of Attorney paperwork to the branch so that they could see this was not fraud to which she told me There was nothing that could be done and my account was being closed because I paid that powerpill out of my account. This was a completely different reason than what the gentleman on the phone continued To tell me, which is that it was an issue with a check. Leaving me to believe that there was a teller error done by XXXX and that they were doing what they could in the branch to try and cover that up. I was fine with my account being closed at that time. Because I was beyond aggravated with this process and the lies that were being told to me. However, I was told I could not have my money that it was going to be in the account until XX/XX/XXXX at the earliest. At which point I would be required to come back into the branch and close the account myself in order to receive the money that is left in that account. To my calculation, the amount in that account and owed to me is going to be around $ XXXX {$900.00}. As my mother 's power of attorney, I do handle all of her finances. And she did send {$350.00} as a XXXX XXXX into my account with m and t the same day that this all happened. Her name is XXXX XXXX. I do not understand how paying her power XXXX is means for expulsion from the bank as well I do not understand why a payroll checked drawn on m & t would cause any kind of an issue. And beyond that I do not understand how I could stand in front of XXXX and have her do a deposit into an account that was apparently frozen unless the issue that caused the account to be frozen happened after that teller transaction in which they were lying to me because the XXXX XXXX in question was paid at least a week prior to this.

Consumer Complaint: I went on vacation to XXXX in XX/XX/ with some of my friends. While we were there, looking for attractions to do in the area, I booked a tour of an XXXX farm, named XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for {$310.00} and scheduled it for XX/XX/XXXX. However when we arrived at the destination for the XXXX, it was an empty parking lot and not an actual farm. On top of that, I got no email or text message of anything about the tour or the location of the farm, and when I tried contacting the owner, which i attempted multiple times, he didn't respond or ever contact me further. I immediately contacted my bank, M & T about the scam charge and canceled my card. They said that they were gon na investigate the charge and issued me a credit. However, a few months later, on XX/XX/XXXX, the credit was taken back and they told me that they found nothing wrong with the transaction. After that, I scheduled an appointment in person with my bank and tried to dispute the investigation. A day later, the person I talked to called and said that they were unable to reopen the case. Afterwards, I tried multiple times to contact the owner of the XXXX farm, and after multiple days and phone calls I was finally able to. However, he said that he hadn't gotten the money back from the bank yet and that maybe it would come in at a later date. So I kept calling, and checking, left multiple voice mails and eventually he stopped responding and hasn't contacted me since. On XX/XX/XXXX, I went to my bank again and tried to get their help again and they said there was nothing they could do about it. However, they suggested filing a police report, so i put in a police report with the XXXX XXXX Police department. While filing the police report, I noticed that on the website for XXXX XXXX XXXX was different than the one originally listed that I had followed and that's listed for them on XXXX. However, I am incredibly dissatisfied with the lack of help from my bank for getting charged for a service I never received and never got contacted about.

Consumer Complaint: My home property taxes were assessed at the wrong percentage of XXXX XXXX instead of XXXX XXXX because the house was not listed with the county correctly. When I saw the issue because of much higher my monthly payment was and my escrow being incorrect, I contacted XXXX, who was then the servicer of my mortgage. They told me I needed to go and fix the issue with the county, but advised me that it was best to go ahead and pay the higher incorrect amount now and to keep my loan current, and that when the county issued the money back to XXXX, I would receive a refund for the overage. This should have been in the amount of {$680.00}. As I was in the process of getting my taxes fixed with the county, I found out my loan was sold and now being serviced by a new lender, M & T Bank. They still have the incorrect amount as my monthly payment that is due. I have had to do A TON of back and forth trying to get this all situated. So on XX/XX/XXXX, a check in the amount of {$2700.00} was sent from XXXX XXXX to XXXX, who handles the billing for both of these lenders, the check initially went to XXXX, then I had to get XXXX to send the check to M & T, and now they are telling me that I am only due an overage of {$54.00}. I spoke with a woman named XXXX from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/10, then XXXX and XXXX at M & T on XX/XX/10, and then their supervisor XXXX XXXX who told me I would be receiving a check for {$680.00}. A month goes by and nothing, then I receive a new analysis saying that my overage is only {$54.00} because the last analysis was saying I was suppose to pay {$20000.00} in XXXX as well, but I purposefully didn't make a payment to M & T UNTIL we got everything squared away, and now they are taking money back saying I owed them the higher, incorrect, amount. Bottom line is, I paid a higher, incorrect, amount to XXXX in XXXX, they sold my loan to M & T, and now they are telling me too bad, you're not getting the money back, even though that is what I was advised to do. Please help me rectify this, I have jumped through a hundred hoops and thought I had it squared away and it's not.

This besides the fact that the interest rates are out of this world I think their business practices need to be investigated.

Consumer Complaint: My mortgage was assumed by M & T Bank. I went from paying about {$560.00} with my previous mortgage company or so to over {$1000.00}. When asked why the increase I was told that my escrow balance was in the negative. I paid what I was supposed to pay. I lost my job and asked about modifying my escrow payments until I was able to find employment. I also asked for any programs that they provided to help. I was told I could not get help until I was late. Of course, I end up paying late due to no job and their advice. Then I'm told I'm not behind enough to get help. So now I'm trying to catch up. Well I go to make a payment and I'm locked out of my account. I try to call I can't get anyone on the phone. When I was able to get someone on the phone 2 days later this posted as another late payment to my credit. For the past 4 months I've called and asked them to not lock my account so that I can make payments as necessary. I work the same hours as them an need flexibility in making my payments. I spoke to someone about help ( now that I'm almost 3 months behind ) and they are supposed to send something. Then i was told i had to make XXXX payments instead of the XXXX that i was able to make. I still haven't received it. The principal on my mortgage is {$160.00} and my mortgage payments are about {$1000.00} ( or so ). Why is {$650.00} going to escrow?!! {$200.00} is going to interest. I'm paying more in both interest and escrow then is even going to my mortgage. Especially without notification or explanation that was going to be a change. I feel as though they were giving me bad advice and increasing my rates to make me loose my home. I got approved off of a job making $ XXXX. They were not willing to even set up a plan to pay off any negative escrow balances ( to was due to no fault of my own. ). To block me from making payments so that I can get caught up and to not even offer XXXX service for those with alternate schedules if online is not available. My credit has gone from the mid XXXX 's to the XXXX 's all from following the advice from a company that is supposed to be helping companies not setting them up for foreclosure and financial ruin. This is sad!
