Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to bring to your attention an alarming experience I recently had with XXXX XXXX XXXX and the subsequent mishandling of my dispute by Chase Disputes Department. On XX/XX/2023, I solicited the services of XXXX XXXX XXXX to repair my AC unit located at XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. The technician, representing XXXX XXXX XXXX, charged me for a XXXX XXXX that he claimed was used to potentially detect leaks and additionally for XXXX pounds of freon. However, the unit continued to underperform, prompting me to contact the company again. Their assessment was that more freon was needed. Given the recurrent issues, I decided to seek a second opinion from XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2023, a senior technician from REM undertook a thorough inspection and not only confirmed that my unit was spraying freon, but that I didn't need the dye because you could clearly see the freon spraying out of the unit. The technician also revealed that the UV dye application I had been charged for by XXXX XXXX XXXX was never conducted. This was confirmed using specialized XXXX XXXX XXXX In response to this discovery, I promptly filed a dispute with Chase Disputes, challenging the charge of {$1000.00}. It is deeply concerning that a service provider would act in such a deceitful manner, capitalizing on my lack of technical expertise in the matter. To my dismay, on XX/XX/2023, I received a decision from Chase Disputes ruling in favor of XXXX XXXX XXXX. This decision not only lacked a thorough understanding of the nature of my dispute but also denied me the opportunity to provide supplementary evidence, including a crucial video from XXXX XXXX XXXX, which irrefutably proves my claims. The dismissal letter from Chase misconstrued my dispute stating, " That I disputed the charge because I believed that I cancelled the service with the merchant due to quality of service provided, '' which is patently incorrect. My grievance is explicitly due to the fraudulent service rendered by XXXX XXXX XXXX and the payment I made for services that were never delivered. Given the above, I am appealing to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to investigate this matter, ensuring : A thorough review of the unethical and deceptive practices of XXXX XXXX XXXX. An inquiry into the dispute resolution processes at Chase Disputes, which seem to be lacking in due diligence and a genuine understanding of customer complaints. It is distressing to believe that consumers can be so easily defrauded, and I hope that the CFPB can provide recourse and ensure that such practices are adequately addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust in the integrity of the CFPB to act in the interest of justice and consumer protection. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Getting a credit card

Consumer Complaint: I received a Chase Freedom Credit card in the mail with a $ XXXX credit limit. I never applied for this card. When I called Chase, they said the card application was opened on XX/XX/XXXX, however, they could not tell me by which means ( phone call or online application? ). I recently applied for a mortgage so I'm thinking someone took my indentity and opened this Chase card fraudulently. I suspect it was Chase but because I was applying for a mortgage, my credit report was pulled and there was alot of personal and financial info moving about which made me suseptible to fraud.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my checking account was deactivated by Chase, after many years of being a client they could not verify my SSN. They requested me to go to a branch and bring a copy of my XXXX, which I did. In the meantime, my direct deposits from my employers were held. I asked several times to different representatives from Chase if my direct deposits were going to be released after my account was reactivated and all of them said yes. After 2 days my account was reactivated. I called several times to check on the status of my direct deposits to which they responded " They will be released soon, you should not worry call us later ''. As I mentioned I called not once or twice but multiple times. Finally, I received an email from the payroll department at my job saying that the bank rejected my direct deposits and they were unable to complete the transaction, therefore they needed to mail me the checks. I called the back and they said " Yes we are sorry, we rejected those deposits " This is unacceptable behavior from the bank, first deactivating my account after several years of being a client, then holding my money and giving me wrong information, and finally rejecting my direct deposits. I have several bills to pay XXXX including rent and credit cards ) and they will be overdue thanks to this bank mistake, for which they just offer an apology when this is not my fault at all

Consumer Complaint: My XXXX XXXX XXXX child, an unauthorized user of my credit card, was able to make 117 individual transactions and {$1800.00} worth of purchases over a 3 week period without any deterrent. Normally, a password is required for any purchases but somehow a fingerprint could be used instead without my knowledge. In addition, I have transaction alerts set up on the card but because they were so small, it went unnoticed. The game is called XXXX being played on the XXXX, where virtual currency is purchased. A player on the game manipulated her into buying the items. XXXX denied any of the refund and then Chase did as well, arguing that it wasn't fraud because my child did it. A compromise of any kind wasn't even offered. The law defines unauthorized use as a credit card transaction made by a person, other than the cardholder, who does not have actual, implied, or apparent authority for such use, and from which the cardholder receives no benefit. This case matches the definition perfectly

After becoming aware of a fraudulent additional charge on my Chase Amazon XXXX card for a rental from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I tried to dispute {$310.00} of the {$950.00} charge on the Chase website. I was prohibited from using the automated dispute filing option and instructed to contact Chase Dispute department at XXXX which I did on XX/XX/XXXX. I informed the Chase Representative that there were fraudulent Optional charges for Personal Accident Insurance and Personal Effects Protection costing EUR XXXX or {$340.00} ( See below summary of events ). I was not disputing the remaining {$610.00} of the transaction. The Chase Representative informed me that I would not be able to dispute the charge " without documentation of the previous charge ''. Not understanding what that meant I was told if I didn't have the original Rental Agreement from XXXX XXXX, for the rental on pickup date XX/XX/XXXX, Chase would not accept the dispute. I advised the representative that I asked the XXXX XXXX Representative for a receipt and was told that company policy was to issue all rental agreements via Email. I never received the rental agreement and my attempts to secure one while in XXXX were unsuccessful as I did not have a confirmation number for the rental ( which would have been listed on the rental agreement if I had received one via Email ). In effect I was fraudulent, charged unauthorized and declined XXXX XXXX from XXXX and was not provided the original Rental Agreement, of which I'm still trying to secure from XXXX.
