Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem making or receiving payments
Consumer Complaint: I am a Chase Bank customer of many years. My husband and I have a Joint account that includes checking, savings and credit card. Over the past year we have experienced numerous duplicate payments to two particular payees. XXXX XXXX charge and XXXX XXXX. When I receive our bills, I immediately go in and schedule the payment to arrive by the due date, then shred my bill. This occurred 3 times in XXXX, then again earlier this year, which when I called customer service, they reversed one of them as it was in pending status. Today I see it occurred again on my XXXX XXXX scheduled payment. It is in pending status so I called Customer service to have one removed. They refused to help me because my husbands name is first on the account and he was not here to participate in the call. He is out of town. I stressed that I am a joint account holder, have all the verification info needed but she said that even her manager and supervisor would not be able to help me and that I would need to call when my husband is home. I stressed that this is in pending status and by the time we call tomorrow ( he is expected home late tonight ) it will have gone through. The amount is not insignificant, {$700.00}!! I can't have this pay twice! So I go up to my local branch, fuming. The banker understood my issue and stated they should have been able to help me. He made the call. He was met with the excuses that it can not be reversed, with the representative even insinuating that I had made the error and paid it twice! FYI, in the past other phone representatives when they did help clear it also insinuated that. In the end, he was told that I had to call tomorrow after it fully posts and file a claim!!! This is just terrible customer service! Why do these double transactions keep occurring? News articles on XX/XX/XXXX indicate that this issue had been resolved and they were immediately crediting duplicate transactions. IT IS NOT RESOLVED!!! MY ACCOUNT IS NOT BEING IMMECDIATELY CREDITED!!!

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Unable to open an account
Consumer Complaint: A fraudulent bank account was opened using my name and social security number when someone gained access to my e-mail account. As a result, when I attempted to open my account with Chase I was unable to as a security alert was placed on my account. My personal banker worked with me to rectify the issue and I was able to finally open accounts with Chase. I recently tried to open a new account with Chase and the same issue has occurred where the security alert caused my account to be closed. My personal banker and a few representatives from Chase understands that this was done in error but they are not getting the proper approval necessary to reopen my account from their back office team.

Consumer Complaint: I began the process of applying for a home equity line of credit with Chase Bank on a condo residence in a building on ( XXXX ). After completing the pre-approval process and providing all the documentation requested by the lender, I was advised that I was preliminarily approved for a line of credit and that the property met their criteria for the loan product I was applying for. The lender immediately requested that I submit {$500.00} they deemed as good faith funds in order to proceed with the loan. I paid the {$500.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and continued to provide the requested documentation and maintain on-going updates on the progress of the loan. Shortly thereafter the lender indicated other residences in the same building had previously been declined for a loan due to the building not qualifying for the loan requirements. I attempted to reach out to my points of contact with the bank ( XX/XX/XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX ) to seek alternative measures to either progress the loan or obtain financing using another product but was not able to get a respond back once the underwriting department deemed the property not eligible for financing. I continued to seek a response ( on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX & XXXX ) on how to resolve the problems and got no response. After some time I requested they return the good faith funds as they had determined that the property did not meet the requirements and that was not disclosed until after the fees were collected. Eventually the agent agreed to request a refund but failed to actually go through with the refund.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I notified Chase bank in regards to my denial for a vehicle from XXXX XXXX XXXX. The representative that I spoke with explained to me that he was aware of the Federal Reserve Act Section 16 and Equal Credit Opportunity Act and that Chase Bank doesnt have to abide by the Constitutional guidelines and policies. Roughly thirty minutes to an hour later a supervisor reached out to me. I expressed my same concern and she gave me the same answer. She also switched me over to her supervisor. They had me on off and suddenly the phone hung up mid ring.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Non-sufficient funds and associated fees
Consumer Complaint: This act qualifies as an unfair practice as defined by UDAAP as the subsequent month 's fee is unavoidable due to timeline of statement issuance and JP Morgan Chase Bank 's " minimum daily balance '' requirement. My complaint is the next statement cycle has already begun BEFORE the consumer is notified of the fee which results in an UNAVOIDABLE second {$5.00} fee on the next month 's statement. This is a basic example of monetary injury that is not reasonably avoidable by consumer : Notification of XXXX Statement is available was emailed on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX for cycle ending XX/XX/XXXX. There is a {$5.00} fee for insufficient DAILY balance, not average balance. Notice of XXXX Statement is available was emailed on XX/XX/XXXX for cycle ending XX/XX/XXXX. This is the UNAVOIDABLE additional {$5.00} fee for insufficient DAILY balance because consumer isn't aware of preceding month 's fee until after the next month 's billing cycle has begun. See attachments please. Thank you for your time and consideration. Best regards, XXXX
