Consumer Complaint: I began receiving bills from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX company in XX/XX/XXXX for services rendered in XX/XX/XXXX. Upon receipt of the first bill, I reviewed my explanation of benefits ( EOB ), which explained that dollar amount was the contracted adjustment and the patient ( me ) was not responsible. I contacted the billing department for the above company and they stated they would make notes as they were awaiting the EOB and to disregard the bill. In XX/XX/XXXX, I received another bill requesting the same amount. This time the individual I spoke with informed me that they received the EOB and the adjustment would be made to my account and to disregard the bill. In XX/XX/XXXX, I received another bill - at this point I became concerned that this would lead to a report to the credit agency bureaus. The individual I spoke with time stated the same as the previous employee, that they had received the EOB and the system would be adjusted to reflect no monies were due from me. The individual further explained that they were unable to prevent the bills from being sent but instead reassured me that based on the EOB the account would be corrected and I could ignore any more bills as once the account has been corrected the bills would cease. I asked would the fact that I had been receiving bills monthly cause my account to be turned over to collections and was told no because I was not responsible for the balance. I did not notice any more bills effective XX/XX/XXXX. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I received a call from IC Systems, a debt collection agency regarding a bill with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Per the debt collector, the account was submitted to them on XX/XX/XXXX. I called the billing department today and the automated system stated that the wait time was in excess of 50 minutes ; however, at the 30 minute hold time the call is automatically disconnected- this happened twice. I have attempted to reach their corporate office to no avail. My employer requires me to not have any derogatory items on my credit and this false report to the debt collection agency had placed my employment in jeopardy.
