Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon, I am writing to file a complant against, XXXX XXXX, I.C. Systems located in XXXX XXXX, MN. On Friday, XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX my husband, XXXX XXXX received a call from I.C. Systems. The call as received from phone number XXXX. The caller represented to my husband they were looking to speak with me, XXXX XXXX. I immediately searched the website for a number with I.C. Systems to avoids any scams etc. I made contact with an employee who transferred me to a collection rep. Per our discussion, I was made aware they received a bill from XXXX, and that I owed money, when I questioned and suggested I would speak with my attorney, I was told they could no longer engage in conversation with me and to have my attorney call them. I reached out to XXXX, XXXX and XXXX later that day to discuss the alleged debt. It was agreed the attorney would send a letter on my behalf, ( see attached ). I would also like to add I have received no bills from XXXX and the only contact from I.C. Systems was the call I initiated XX/XX/XXXX. As it relates to XXXX, I switched carriers sometime in XX/XX/XXXX to a competitor, part of the new service they agreed to pay my phone devices in full. I used monies received from the new service provided and paid XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. After my payment was submitted I was told verbally no other money was due for this account. Again to reiterate I had no calls from XXXX or notice for any other monies due for this account. I.C. Systems sent me an email which was the only form of communication shortly after my initial contact in XX/XX/XXXX. The attachment received was for me to complete my attorney information, print, sign and mail to I.C. Systems. I also tried responding to that email which popped back and not delivered. I confirmed with XXXX XXXX, Attorney that drafted the letter to the collection agency, date of letter XX/XX/XXXX, no response has been received to his letter. This was confirmed verbally over the phone today, XX/XX/XXXX. I have simply requested to prove this debt belongs to me and provide me the required information as again I was told the XXXX account was paid in full. I confirmed on XX/XX/XXXX that I.C. Systems has now placed a collection on my credit report for an amount of XXXX which is different from the billing notice received which shows an amount of XXXX. I am requesting further action against this collection agency.

Consumer Complaint: So, my wife and I have had our credit pulled to get pre-approved for a new home. Was informed there was some medical collections that needed ot be paid before we do that. I called and tried to negotiate they ( I.C systems ) told me it was in collections for too long and we had to pay in full amount and would not settle. This was XX/XX/2022 I paid in full to all three acounts .... After I paid, I started working with a credit repair gentleman and he asked if I had already paid the accounts on there, I said yes and he said well you shouldn't have because it was reported fraudulent and should have never been put back on your credit .... Said it is fraud because they lied to you saying you owed when it was too old to be collected. I was speaking to a lady from I.C. Systems. Which last year, with my entire tax return, I paid off more medical debt in collections and it is still reporting on there... After they told me it would only take 30-45 days to get off my credit. And still reporting on there and hurting mine and my wife 's credit still to this day.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I contacted XXXX ( XXXX ) to provide internet services at my new address. With a XXXX agent, I initiated services via a phone conversation. Only when trying to activate the internet modem did XXXX XXXX services come up on my computer ( NOT XXXX ). In short, XXXX could not activate the internet modem as XXXX already had control of the line ( from a previous tenant ). At that point, I cancelled all services with XXXX. I then contacted XXXX to switch existing internet services. At no point did I have access or use XXXX internet services or receive any equipment from XXXX. In late XX/XX/XXXX, I received a bill from XXXX in the mail stating that I owed {$50.00}. There was not line item to justify this billing amount, or explanation for why they stated that I needed to pay them {$50.00}. I immediately contacted XXXX, who apologized and issued me a credit. I never received an explanation for why I was billed for {$50.00}. I told them that this was fraud to bill me when I never received or used services and the bill contained no line item expense for the {$50.00} amount. I received a {$50.00} account credit ( proof via e-mail ). In early XX/XX/XXXX, I received a bill from I.C. Systems ( a debt collector ) informing me that they were attempting to collect a {$50.00} debt on behalf of XXXX. This statement told me that I had a " Total amount of the debt now : {$50.00} '' I am being fraudulently billed and harassed by XXXX ( XXXX ) and/or its agents. I ask for the CFPB 's help dealing with this matter, as a debt collector has contacted me.
