Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan
Consumer Complaint: I leased a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. My lease was for 36 months or for XXXX miles whichever comes first. I paid off the entire lease amount up front when I signed the lease contract. My lease contract shows the details. Because I used the car a lot, I had to return my car early in XXXX because the car gained almost XXXX miles. About 2 to 3 months ago, I received a billing statement from GM Financial. The statement says I owe {$660.00}. I called GM Financial to find out what the amount was for. I was told that {$390.00} was for " disposition '' fee and the rest was for XXXX tax for the disposition fee and some interest which they couldn't even explain to me. I paid the disposition fee of {$390.00} online, however, GM Financial insisted me to pay the state sales tax for the disposition fee. I never heard of imposing state sales tax on the disposition fee. In fact California 's " Regulation 1660 -Leases of Tangible Property - in General '' shows that sales tax should not be imposed on a leased vehicle. I emailed a copy of my lease contract to show I do not owe any money besides the disposition fee. GM Financial told me they will have to review my case. After a day or two later I found out that GM Financial reported to credit bureau that I have a delinquent payment. I've been maintaining excellent credit, however, due to their report to the credit bureau, my credit score plunged. GM Financial didn't even inform me that they were going to report to the credit bureau. I called to complain but they told me pay off the rest of the amount ( XXXX ). Again, I told them to review the documents I sent via email. They told me that they would review and let me know. I received another billing statement about XXXX weeks ago showing that I owe {$260.00}. I called GM Financial again on XX/XX/XXXX and ask them to explain to me what the charge is for. The person who answered my phone informed me that her manager would call me in the week of the XXXX of XXXX. Today, I received an email from my credit card company saying my credit score has gotten worse. My credit score dropped to 600 range. I was keeping at 800 range all the time, but GM Financial, without notifying me or giving me any details for the billing statement, reported me to the credit bureau for delinquent payment. I am really upset and this is totally unfair. How can GM Finance reported me to the credit bureau for delinquent payment while I was disputing the charges ( general excise tax on disposition fee and interest fee they couldn't even explain to me ). My lease contract clearly shows that I paid off the entire leasing amount. I don't owe any money to GM Finance. GM Financial should revert the action by recovering my original credit score. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: Due to the seriousness of XXXX 's XXXX XXXX, he will not be able to make any payments until he returns home if that will happen. He is in XXXX XXXX and remains in the hospital for an indefinite period of time, he will not be home for the holiday and arrangements are being made for his final wishes. Please respect and do what he wants, he knows that the GM payment is due now, but he needs to delay it until the end of the month, if possible. His income has dropped considerably since he has been in the hospital due to XXXX and hospital stays which were not anticipated. Please work with XXXX while he is here, we may lose him at any time. XXXX remains in the hospital, he is waiting for some kind of response from the emails, he is worried that you're going to pop on his doorstep ( he is not there ) and repossess the jeep. He is asking for time and wishes that GM \could move the outstanding due payments to the end of the contract until he somewhat recovers ( he never will ) from XXXX XXXX XXXX. There is no cure for this, he is placed on a medication remedy only and that is what is keeping him alive. Sorry for the bad news, but it's a reality and he is trying to come up with a solution instead of lying there in bed suffering so, please work with him. Please stop any repossession proceedings, XXXX can not help the situation he is in, he can not believe GM would take the car while he is suffering seriously with XXXX XXXX XXXX, the car will always be here, but XXXX may not survive the horrible XXXX. Please keep him in your prayers and please don't rush to a quick decision without any kind of notification on what you're going to do. We think you should move the outstanding balance to the end of the contract until XXXX XXXX hopefully gets better. Please note he is sacrificing his car payment for his health, and he wants all of you at GM to understand his situation. He is going to try to work with his credit union if he is able to pay at least one payment, we will not know until this week so please read the above and show some compassion because I am afraid you're going to lose a good customer, would you rather have the car instead of XXXX XXXX.
