Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finished

Consumer Complaint: I had an end of lease inspection and was told by the inspector there would be an {$85.00}. cost for damage. I had time to get any repairs done if the cost would have been more than that. I knew that there was damage to the front bumper that was close to the ground, but was told that was expected since it had no protection like many cars have and is easy to bump into parking lot cement curbs. I could have had the repair done for an estimated {$75.00} if I had known I was going to be charged an excessive amount after turning in the leased car. My mileage was way below the allowance and the car was in excellent condition. A few weeks later I received a bill for {$330.00} which was excessive. I called the customer service number and was told they would review my complaint and get back to me which they never did. I was told these repairs I was charged were probably not done, as the car would be sold at auction as is. This is a dishonest practice that I feel should be stopped. I do n't want to pay these unreasonable charges, that were deceptive and unreasonable. Please help me with this.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: Received an email today, Saturday XXXX/XXXX/XXXX ( Holiday Weekend ), that my car payment is due in 5 days but also that the online pay and phone pay systems have been shut down for maintenance and will not be opening up back up until after my bill is due. I also probably wo n't be able to mail in on time because of holiday schedule, unless I pay extra for expedited shipping, plus I already threw out my bill because I always pay online through a 1-time ACH. This seems like a very underhanded move to get people charged late fees and to put blemishes on their record. I 'm shocked that this could even be allowed. I have paid on time/early on every payment since the loan started. This is completely ridiculous that a financial company can act this way.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan

Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold

Consumer Complaint: I believe it was sometime in the summer of XXXX I had a major repossession from GM Financial for my XXXX XXXX XXXX. I tried to get my monthly payments lowered because I lost my great paying job and used only what I had left in my savings to pay for rent, car payment, car insurance, food and clothes for my son who was two at the time. I want to remove GM financial from my credit history and come with a settlement to dispute this situation.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan

Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a new XXXX XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. It was financed through GM Financial XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX TX. I got sick with XXXX and was XXXX in that same year. I fell upon hard times and was ultimately given XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I tried to keep up the payments but I could not so on XXXX XXXX, XXXX I voluntarily surrendered the vehicle. The amount financed was XXXX and residual balance after the sale was XXXX. I received that notice on XX/XX/XXXX which was 14 days after the vehicle was sold at a private auction. It was sold on XX/XX/XXXX. I called GM that same day they offered to settle for XXXX. I explained I did not have that much and was living with my brother, the best I could do was 25 % ( XXXX ) I was told they would check with managment. I did not hear back from them. I responded in writing on XX/XX/XXXX and made them an offer to settle for 25 % or XXXX. I had that much in savings. I told them in the certified letter to advise within 10 days if this was acceptable. I did not hear back from them so on XXXX XXXX I sent them another letter advising I was sending a check for full and final settlement of XXXX. They deposited the check so I figured the matter was over. I then got another letter on XX/XX/XXXX offering to settle for XXXX in addition to my first payment. I sent them another certified letter stating I considered the debt settled. Now they call every week daily trying to settle on the full amount of XXXX. I spoke to them today and offered to pay an addition XXXX which was the first settlement offer even thought I was not admitting liab just to get them to stop harrassing me. I was refused and told that I must pay the entire residual balance or they would turn me into a third party collections agency. At that time I withdrew my offer of {$1500.00} additional to settle. I think I have done everything possible to amicably settle this matter even though I feel my liabiliy ended when they accepted my full and final settlment check. Please resolve this matter as the stress they are causing me is affecting my XXXX.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan

Consumer Complaint: I turned in my vehicle on XX/XX/XXXX. I had Billpay set up for auto payments and accidently paid an additional {$500.00}. I contacted GM Financial by phone and email on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX &XX/XX/XXXX. I provided a copy of my bank statement showing the overpayment. Since then customer service has given me a different story including that I had to wait for car to be auctioned, checked for overmileage ( turned in XXXX short of miles I paid for ), and then I would have to wait 90 days. The possible damage ( which there was n't any ) has nothing to do with the fact that I fulfilled my lease contract and overpaid {$500.00}. I am getting a different story each time I call customer service.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan

Subissue: Lender trying to repossess or disable the vehicle

Consumer Complaint: Hello- I have a loan with GMXXXX financial Acct # XXXX. I was a victim of fraud on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX and lost the balance of my savings and checking accounts at that time due to fraudulent activities. I files a police report with the county I lived in. This cost me more than XXXX in lost funds. The police department has been diligently working to help me recover funds from the significant theft. This also caused me to fall behind on bills I currently have. I have worked with all my creditors and my auto loan was affected. However, since then I have been current since XXXX on my loan. I have been having difficulty with them for awhile, Each time I speak with them a new amount is owed to them which was different than they last told me. In XXXX and XXXX I sent 2 payments on my XXXX XXXX XXXX which are now unrecorded. I contacted XXXX and let them know. On XXXX XXXX I logged into my account and saw that XXXX was owed and was n't reflecting a XXXX payment I made. This would have put my loan in advance. The very next day I was told my account was in arrears XXXX plus an additional XXXX due to a returned check. I had started to make a payment on my checking account however, reversed that payment and then used my XXXX which went through. XXXX proceeded to electronically complete the checking account transaction in addition to this. THis checking account transaction did not go through. XXXX has not recorded a XXXX payment and a XXXX payment. I then informed them, they did no research or ask questions. I informed them on or Around XXXX XXXX of the lost payments. They asked for evidence. I called my XXXX company and requested they address which took till XXXX XXXX to retrieve. On XXXX XXXX I made attempts to log into my XXXX account online and had no access. SO, the next day XXXX emailed the information to XXXX and sent a XXXX XXXXm for XXXX XXXX. The XXXX XXXX # is XXXX to confirm that sent payment. 2 hours later, the vehicle was repossessed. I told the gentleman I could provide evidence that it was paid when he arrived. He proceeded to say no, he forced repossession in front of my child. My employer has also stated they would refinance my vehicle as soon as it is returned to my possession for me so there are no further issues. However, they will not refinance it for me until it is returned. I am seeking out immediate assistance as I have a XXXX child at home and need the vehicle returned to transport her to medical appointments. This has become a serious matter. I also reported the incident to the PA Banking department in hopes of assistance. I am attaching the documentation for the 2 missed payments. I have also requested GM financial to send me paper statements instead of paperless as they do not always come through. I never get an account update and according to my records I have been current since XXXX and was paid in current at the time of repossession.

Consumer Complaint: I recently purchased a new car. My financing is through GM Financial, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, TX XXXX. My payment due date is the XXXX of every month. I received my first statement on XXXX XXXX. I thought this might be an aberration on account of this being a new loan. However, as of Tuesday, XXXX XXXX, I have not received my XXXX statement. I called customer service and spoke to 'XXXX XXXX ' He said my statement was mailed on XXXX XXXX. However, I should have received my statement on XXXX XXXX, not have it mailed on that day. I asked him about tracking my statement by using the intelligent mail barcode on the envelope. He said they could not do it. He is wrong. This is XXXX reason why the XXXX Postal Service developed the intelligent mail barcode as per this article : XXXX XXXX XXXX

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, my wife ( XXXX XXXX ) and I had an auto loan go into default with GM Financial. After the vehicle was auctioned, I still had an unresolved balance owed to GM Financial for the remainder on the finance contract. I contacted GM Financial this fall, and learned the matter was being handled by a law firm named XXXX XXXX XXXX. I was able to negotiate a settlement with the attorney for the remaining balance, and I funded this settlement on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I am attaching a copy of the written settlement arrangement from the attorney, as well as our receipt showing the arrangement was paid as we have agreed. Move forward to today, and GM Financial is still reporting to XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX XXXX that we still owe them almost {$7000.00}. We have disputed the account at least three times with the credit bureaus, but GM Financial continues to tell the credit bureaus that we have an outstanding balance. As mentioned before, I am attaching the documentation proving that this matter has been legally resolved for some time now.
