Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan
Consumer Complaint: We traded in our truck back in XXXX to XXXX XXXX dealership. They sent payoff to GMFinancial and was told that the check was cashed by them as well as the dealership and the loan was paid off. A month or so later and the loan was still not showing as paid off and we continue to receive collection calls/letters. XXXX XXXX sent over proof of payoff and the check being cashed but STILL months later, the lease is still showing not paid off and we continue to get letters/calls and negative credit reporting. I have went above and beyond trying to get this resolved but when you contact them, you get a person who has no idea what they are talking about and you can NEVER speak to a manager or someone who knows what is going on. I have been patiently waiting over 3 months to have this resolved and no one has been able to help me. Please please help me, I am at a loss of what to do and this is not a fair business practice at all!!

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial reported to the credit bureau 's ( XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX ) account 30 days past due in XX/XX/2017. I am the co-signer on the account and I was not notified by GM Financial that the payment was delinquent, thus I was not given the opportunity to make the payment so the account did not become past due ( XXXX ) days. I was not aware of this delinquent payment until I was alerted by XXXX XXXX that my credit score had changed. When I investigated to the cause of the drastic decrease of my credit score I discovered it was related to GM Financial in regards to the loan I was the co-signer on. I immediately contacted GM Financial customer service by phone and payment was made to account for past due amount. I asked the customer service representative why I was not contacted ( my phone number is on the account ) to notify me that the payment was 30 days late, and I was told that the primary person on the loan had been contacted by phone and a payment arrangement had been made, and that XXXX XXXX policy is that once a payment arrangement was made with the primary contact no further phone calls are made. My credit is now effected for 7 years for a late payment even though I was never contacted giving me the opportunity to make the payment before it was reported to the credit bureau 's. I had a very good credit score until this delinquent payment was reported by GM Financial to the credit bureau 's. Between phone calls with GM Financial and contacting the credit bureau 's, I have spent several hours to dispute this and request to have this derogatory report by GM Financial be removed/forgiven. My disputes have been denied and you are my last hope of fairness to repair my credit to the very good standing I had prior to this one instance. I believe that GM Financial violated my rights to protect my credit rating by NOT contacting me.

Consumer Complaint: I paid the car off on XX/XX/2018, the finance company was GM Financial, There was an overpayment of about $ 130+ I got a letter from GM Financial stating the loan was paid off and I got a payoff letter along with the paid contract, but NO refund check, they said I would get that latter before 30 days. They say they mailed it out at the 30 day mark, but over a week later I still do not have my refund. If I am late with my payments, they charge me a 30 day late fee, and they submit my error on my credit report. I called and asked why I do not have my refund and was told it can take 2 weeks in the mail, I can not see why this takes that long, I dont believe they mailed the check, and if they did, it only takes about 3 business days at the most. This is ridicules.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Billing problem
Consumer Complaint: I have a 36 month lease for a XXXX XXXX XXXX through GM Financial that was initiated in XXXX of XXXX. In XXXX of XXXX we moved to a new address and advised GM Financial of our move. Our XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX of XXXX bills were all sent to our new address. Then in XXXX the XXXX bill did not show up. I tried calling them, but no one answered the phones. I went to the web site and it was only semi-functional, but there was a message saying their customer service office was closed, no explanation, and would reopen in XXXX! With no other option I copied an old bill, attached a check for the correct amount and mailed it off. This month I got a bill to the correct address, which I promptly paid. Today I got another bill sent to my wife 's name, to our old address, with a charge of {$25.00} for an " EARN TAX, '' and when I called customer service their automated line also had this amount identified and said it was PAST DUE. I sat on hold for about half an hour and finally talked to a customer service rep named XXXX, who was very cavalier and smart XXXX about the whole situation. I worked for XXXX for over 32 years, the last 10 years in XXXX 's Disaster Recovery line of business with the largest businesses and govt. agencies, including State of California for many years. I have a very strong suspicion GM Financial had a major failure or hack of their system and in the process of restoring loaded some bad tapes, at a minimum. I know that GM Financial has thousand 's of customers in California and all of them were victims. The customer service rep tried to guarantee me this would not hurt my credit and that the problem was fixed, but I have a low level of faith at this point. GM has a long history of taking short cuts that put their customers and not just financial but also physical risk. Shame on me for not remembering that before I leased a car from them. I do think this matter should be looked into at the highest level and proper action taken. GM Financial has failed their fiduciarly responsibility to their customers, their stock holders, and the general public.
