Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: This complaint is regarding the close out of a lease and a new lease both with XXXX. On XX/XX/2018, my lease with XXXX should have ended once the dealership paid off remaining payments. In error, 2 payments were drafted from my checking account in the amount of {$290.00} on XX/XX/2018 and XX/XX/2018. I have made multiple calls to get this issue resolved. I have been told various amounts for refund due to me including {$890.00}, {$590.00} and {$290.00}. I have been promised a check arriving XXXX, XXXX XXXX refund, and emailed check ( call on XX/XX/2018 ). We all know that a check sent via email can not be negotiated. Whenever I call in, I need to start all over and get different info each time. I was told that not all calls are recorded. I emailed XXXX and received confirmation of receipt on XX/XX/2018. I received no response or resolution from this complaint. Today I called and was advised that one of the over payments was credited to my new lease. However I can not see that on a statement nor online. The last I was told told is that I am due a check in the amount of {$290.00}. No one is giving me accurate information on why an over payment has still not been refunded to me. XXXX XXXX is the supervisor that I spoke to today.

Issue: Problem when making payments

Subissue: Problem during payment process

Consumer Complaint: I have a loan with GMFNANCIAL. I have always made my payments on time. For some reason I realized that there was a late payment on my credit report. As you can see, I have always had a stellar payment record with this company. I tried contacting both XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and GMFNANCIAL with no successful resolution. XXXX, XXXX and XXXX were reporting me late. There was definitely an error on their part. I was never 30 days late XX/XX/XXXX / XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX / XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial 's website for billing has been reporting incorrectly for the almost 3 years I have leased a car. It continually shows the wrong amount due and incorrect due dates. Example : Login to the webpage it shows amount due as {$310.00} then look at the electronic statement and it shows {$290.00}. Consumers would be unsure as to what amount is actually due. Now at the end of the lease it shows {$750.00} due and no statement for XX/XX/XXXX. I called and they said I only owe {$140.00} ( which I paid ). I do not trust this company at all and I'm sure there will be more charges even though they tell me this XXXX 's out my account. This is very confusing and I have been very diligent to pay attention to statement amounts instead of the website but I'm worried that others would incur late payments and other financial hardships based on misinformation. This is very bad business. When I asked about this several times the only answer I got was they are working on it or they don't know why it shows this. I have talked to other GM financial customers who have similar stories. This needs to be investigated for predatory lending practices. I work for a large financial institution and if we did business like this we would be in trouble.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial has repeatedly reported incorrect information from account to my credit report for OVER A YEAR!!!! This is absolutely UNEXCEPTIONABLE!! All this time I have been working HARD to position myself to become a home owner and could not understand what was holding me back!!! It was GM Financial!!! I had to dispute the account balance that they report due to it being INVALID!! GM Financial reported that I owed over {$5000.00} when I only owe {$2000.00}!! They updated their error. As they should have!! Then ... GM FINANCIAL updates their system XX/XX/XXXX and caused my online payments to be late XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX!!! If I was late why are they just reporting this!??? They just reported those XX/XX/XXXX!!! If I was late why wait so long??! Because they are wrong and I was never late!!! I found out about those late payments from my lender who informed me just yesterday that my score went down because GM FINANCIAL reported 3 late payments in the past 2 weeks. I called and they said it was my fault!!!! Now tonight I get a credit alert saying my equifax has went up 44 points!!! How did that happen!?? Because the detail shows that GM FINANCIAL HAS INCORRECTLY REPORTED that I HAVE LATE PAYMENTS THAT THEY UNCOVERED WAS INCORRECT!! XX/XX/XXXX-30 days late, XX/XX/XXXX-30 days late, XX/XX/XXXX-60 days late, XX/XX/XXXX-60 days late, XX/XX/XXXX-60 days, XX/XX/XXXX-60 days late and XX/XX/XXXX-90 days late!!!!! They just changed it!!! This is an outrage and I demand that this be addressed RIGHT AWAY!!! This has hindered me severely from becoming a homeowner. On top of that I had to get an online alert and I was never even notified!!! I have missed multiple opportunities to become a homeowner due to their delinquency! This has caused a major setback along with XXXX XXXX and XXXX!!! If this is not taken care of I will seek further assistance!

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finished

Consumer Complaint: I had a 3-year car lease agreement with GM Financial. The lease started on XX/XX/XXXX, and ended on XX/XX/XXXX. And my account was in good standing. After I returned the car to the dealership, I got a {$1100.00} bill from GM Financial for excess wear and tear. I was shocked, then I got the inspection report, and the itemized bill. Among those items, {$640.00} is for replacing all four tires. This does NOT make sense at all. I drove this car for less than 3 years, and only had XXXX miles on it. Even the tires were worn, it's the quality issue of the car and/or tires. I don't think I'm responsible for replacing the tires. It should be normal wear and tear. I called GM Financial Customer Service the multiple times, the most recently on XX/XX/XXXX. I requested them to adjust my bill down by {$640.00}. But they denied my request.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a new vehicle back in XX/XX/XXXX from a XXXX dealership in XXXX, NY. I traded in a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I had a balance remaining. I made my last payment in the amount of {$340.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. The XXXX dealership paid the remaining balance off. They mailed a check to GM Financial XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX AZ XXXX in the amount of {$3700.00}. The check was cashed by GM on XX/XX/XXXX. I have copies of the deposited check. GM was over paid by {$590.00}. I have contacted GM several times regarding my refund. I still as of today XX/XX/XXXX have not received the refund. I was now told that GM will not process the check until XX/XX/XXXX. This is unacceptable. I paid this vehicle off 2 1/2 months ago. I should not have to wait this long for my money. As I'm writing this complaint GM has me on hold. I can not believe they can take advantage of a consumer by holding their funds for an extended period of time. They just hung up on me after waiting over 15 minutes on hold. Please have them expedite my refund. I do not want to wait until next year. If you need copies of the documentation I have all of it. Thank you XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Problem with fees charged

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial Inc. Background I have a lease with GM Financial. GM Financial uses XXXX XXXX as their payment service. I setup automated payments via XXXX XXXX at lease inception. I was unaware that automated payments automatically ended after a 2 year time frame. I was subsequently late on my GM Financial lease. Issue At time of lease, I setup a user profile on GM Financial website with all of my current phone, email, address information, re-updated when I moved as well. When lease was taken, salesperson copied all my contact info from a prior lease and I signed, not reviewing my phone number. When my auto payment was stopped, I was not informed by either phone, email, or mail. When my account went late, I was not informed by either phone, email, or mail. GM Said they called my phone number on my original credit application, not the phone number on my online account with them. They said the collection department and online accounts don't link. What is happening with this type of non-communication. The only reason I found out that I was late was because I applied for a mortgage and the lender informed me as such. If I didn't run my credit, I would of found out when a repo truck pulled in front of my house to take my vehicle. GM goes out of their way not to inform people when payment processes change, or even when they are late. They do this so they can increase income via late fees and eventually repo the cars for non payment. This is predatory lending at it's definition. To summarize. I have made payments online for 2 years via auto-pay on time. My auto pay cancelled without me knowing. GM Financial failed to contact me. I went late, GM financial failed to contact me with information that they have had in their systems. I would of never found out unless I ran my credit. I can only imagine the type of negative impacts this is having in communities that are less fortunate. Excessive fees added into balances can cause people to default. This has to be stopped. GM Financial has to make all efforts to inform their customers when a payment goes late. These types of actions are decimating the lower income communities by charging more fees and hurting credit so borrowers have increased costs on future loans.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan

Subissue: Lender trying to repossess or disable the vehicle

Consumer Complaint: My husband lost his job and was out of work for a while. I'm under doctor 's care and unable to work. I called GM Financial to ask for a deferment, after the deferment I was still unable to make the car payment because we had gotten behind on other bills such as rent and utilities and had to apply for government assistance for food stamps. I called GM Financial on XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX in acceleration department where they do the repossessions and her ID XXXX, XXXX told me that not only were they going to repossess my vehicle but that they were going to garnish my wages and garnish every single income tax refund that we get until the loan is paid off. I told her that in Texas that was against the law, she said it would happen anyway. I asked her if this is being recorded because she's incorrect and she said yes it is being recorded and we're going to repossess the vehicle.
