Issue: False statements or representation

Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial is reporting a much higher balance than what was owed. They apparently sold my vehicle for much less than it was worth, however, i will never actually know what they sold it for because they have, on many occasions refused to send me a complete accounting of what i owe and why. This company is still reporting to the credit bureaus, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, a very large amount that i have offered to pay less for but as they have refused several times to send me a complete and accurate accounting of what is owed along with proof of what the car sold for and proof of the tow charges. I would like this large amount removed from my credit because they have refused to send me an itemized accounting or proof of what is owed.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: My accounts were hacked and my bank accounts emptied I had to put a freeze on my account to try to recover the money and during that time had no access to funds. I sent a letter to all parties involved letting them know that my bank was frozen between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX making payments late due to fraudulent activity. They have not yet changed my credit information to reflect the fraud and are still reporting me late causing my credit score to go down. I cant get them to fix the problem its as if theyre not understanding what happened

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial misapplied my personal property tax payments made in XXXX, XXXX and XXXX, XXXX, resulting in their sending monthly billing notices to me throughout XXXX for XXXX-due. Despite my repeated attempts ( over a year ) to get the misapplications corrected, GM Financial would not acknowledge that it was their error until I finally located a customer service manager in early XXXX, XXXX who agreed and I reached an agreement to make a " catch-up '' payment in XXXX, XXXX once the account structure was corrected, which I did on XX/XX/XXXX. Instead, GM Financial that same month reported me as " past-due '' to the credit bureaus, despite the agreement I had reached with the customer service manager. This result is the epitome of a " Catch-22 '' and I view this as an unwarranted and untrue punitive credit reporting action, and my attempts to get this reversed or corrected have been ignored to date by GM Financial - it is evident that they have the " power '' despite the gross inequity of the action. The payment history GM Financial submitted in response clearly defends my version of how they misapplied my payments but conveniently omits any reference to the ongoing dispute I was trying to rectify for over one year.

Consumer Complaint: I have tried several times to get XXXX to remove the incorrect information that is in my account. I am currently in the process of getting a mortgage and this information is still coming up and causing a problem during my attempt to close. I have provided up to 4 different letters to XXXX over the last 180 days and yet they remain the only group to not update and correct the information.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finished

Consumer Complaint: As recently as XX/XX/2020 the joint lease account on my credit report reflected closed, paid in full/obligation met. On XX/XX/XXXX both my and my co signer 's credit files were hit with over 165 days past due. I have already had to dispute this account and asked numerous times for an updated bill upon which I could pay. XX/XX/XXXX I called the collection department and explained I never received an updated bill and was told I would not receive one. I mentioned my credit report from XX/XX/XXXX reflected a closed and paid account with GM Financial and they said that on their end they did not report that to be true. GM Financial 's billing practices are abusive, unlawful and the oversight has caused me and my cosigner a lot of negative financial consequences. Near the end of the conversation I was finally told that I could be sent a payoff letter with the updated amount due. This is what I had been asking for from the very beginning when trying to resolve the incorrect end of lease statement received in XXXX.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern : I leased a vehicle from XXXX/GM whose corporate offices are listed as General Motors Corporate Office, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXXXXXX, XXXX XXXX, Texas XXXX, and had them deduct the payment from my checking account. Due to an accident on XX/XX/2019, the leased vehicle mentioned above is totaled and my insurance company XXXX paid off the value of the car shortly after the accident. A payment of {$210.00} was withdrawn from my account on the XXXX of XX/XX/2019. GM Financial claims that this overpayment was refunded on the fifth of XXXX. This is not accurate. Months later, after countless hours of calls, in XX/XX/2019, I forwarded my bank statement from XXXX to show that no money was received from GM Financial. After a few months, I finally received my overpayment of {$210.00}. GM Financial failed to close the file and notify the credit bureaus of the fact that I owe nothing. On my credit report, it still shows an outstanding balance over 350 days past due. Even though I havent owed anything on this account for more than 17 months. I have already gone through hell with them trying to get my money back. How long will it take to fix these problems without your help? I want them to close my file and notify the credit bureaus. This companys incompetence is costing me my credit rating and the ability to get loans, especially now that I am trying to refinance my home. Every time I call, I get the runaround. Again I called on XX/XX/XXXX, after 45 minutes and the customer service rep speaking to the supervisor, she told me my case had to be transferred to another department called the Consumer advisory section, This is ridiculous. I was supposed to receive a call today, XX/XX/XXXX, and still nothing. Could you please help me? Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I paid my account off in full in late XXXX/early XXXX. I have been paitent in waiting for my credit report to be updated however after 3 requests and nearly 5 months they are still reporting that I have an outstanding balance and have are 60 days past due which was no longer accurate in XXXX. My Credit is now being damaged by their lies and I need it corrected. I called the company 3 times and made a request in the chat but after being on hold over over an hour was told that they wouldnt talk to me. I need this corrected ASAP. If they are doing this to me a paid in full FORMER customer who will never utilize their services again and will discourage anyone I know who looks at them as well, I can only imagine what they are doing to those who were effected by COVID.

Consumer Complaint: GM Financial is the Lessor of my XXXX XXXX XXXX VIN # XXXX and lease account # XXXX. This Lessor does not make PAYOFF information available to the consumer/Lessee. THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENT SO THE CONSUMER CAN KNOW WHAT THEIR BALANCE AND REMAINING FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IS! There is NOTHING AVAILABLE ONLINE GM Financial website ), nor in the phone APP. Also, when you call customer service, an automated attendant instructs you to go online and use chat. When you go online and use chat, the agent tells you to go call the customer service number. Round and round. How can it be allowed to block this information from the consumer?? This is game playing, and I believe information that is unlawfully being hidden from the consumer.
