Issue: Closing on a mortgage
Subissue: Delays with the closing process
Consumer Complaint: I received an email from XXXX XXXX the senior loan processor for Discover Home Loans on XX/XX/2024 stating that they are unable to proceed with the application and the application will result in a decline due to the requested documents not received. I have always submitted all documents requested in a timely manner especially the income documentation. There was an issue months ago when XXXX XXXX stated she was having issues contacting The Port Authority of NY & NJ, my employer. I explained to her that my employer uses XXXX to verify its employees. I gave her XXXX 's information : email : XXXX ; telephone number : XXXX option 4, and Fax : XXXX. I can only conclude that there is another reason as to why this loan was rejected considering I already supplied all requested documentation and also there was never a new request for additional information for this loan from anyone at Discover Home Loans.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases
Consumer Complaint: I applied the Discover it credit card at XXXX last year successfully, but after several payments, the bank restricted my credit card suddenly and asked me to provide my personal identification verification via notary service. The bank told me that they initiated this process as they realized that my passport is from XXXX. I am new to US, and I have my working XXXX issued by US. Meanwhile, I also followed the bank 's requirement to have a notary document by XXXX, and uploaded it to the bank 's system following with its instruction. But the bank still restricts my account and says they will close it without any reason. And it will definitely impact my personal credit.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: I have received a large volume of calls, which I have refused to answer due to the stressful nature of my situation, and to being either asleep or working during. As I didn't answer them, I don't expect them to know my schedule, but they have repeatedly violated ftc guidelines for maximum number of calls in a 7 day period m, and have tried to conceal this fact by using private numbers, and/ spoofing to get me to answer. Due to the nature of their tactics, I am unable to ascertain whether the malfactor is XXXX XXXX XXXX, discover, or both. I dont believe it'd be difficult to find out which one has been using these tactics. Regardless, one or both of these corporations has blatantly ignored federal guidelines.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2024 at XXXX XXXX My phone rang and it was my bank I answered after the called twice. They said my card was flagged as someone was trying to use it in Georgia. I stated I am not in Georgia please put a freeze on my accounts. The woman sounded VERY believable and said she was freezing my accounts. She stated she was sending me authentication codes to freeze the account and she needed me to give those back to her, I did as they came from the same thread my bank always texts me from. About an hour later I get an email from my bank saying the wire transfer was successful. I called my bank. No one from the bank had called me that morning I had been scammed. They took {$10000.00} from me and wired it to a XXXX XXXX with the account name XXXX XXXX. The bank said they were doing a wire recall of the money ( Ive received no information or confirmation about that ) and that hopefully they could get my money back but if not it wasnt their problem. My XXXX is XXXX. That money was my XXXX XXXX XXXX and it is wiped clean. I have no idea what my bank is doing to help or if Ive even been calling the bank or if the scammers are having my calls forwarded directly to them. I feel so alone and XXXX. Please help me. I dont understand how this wire went through I do t understand why my bank isnt helping me.

Consumer Complaint: These financial institutions are in violation of granting me my right to " opt out '' from reporting my non public personal information to a nonaffiliated third party without my written consent. Nonaffiliated third parties being XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. Discover Bank account number beginning with XXXX, also XXXX XXXX account number beginning with XXXX. I tried to opt out but they refused but now I am showing the laws that they are breaking and the fraud that they are committing to me the consumer. The law states that they need my written consent to give my non public personal information to a nonaffiliated third party as mentioned above. For the record I did not give my written consent to any of these financial institutions to disclose my non public personal information to these nonaffiliated third parties. Which they give my transaction history as well which is also non public personal information. Also a violation of the privacy act of 1974. And identity theft.

Consumer Complaint: write a cfpb complaint about discover bank- on XXXX I went online and opened 2 new XXXX 's, 12 month@ 5.2 % and 9 month@ 5.4 % - finished application and got a message to call discover - called and verified my information and was told everything was okay. On XX/XX/ noticed that the new CD 's were not in my discover account - called and was told " an error happened '' and that I needed to reapply for the CD 's - no email, no call, no notification what so ever that an error happened. A bank doesn't get to " have an error '' when processing $ XXXX of my money and keep me as a customer. This is completely unacceptable.
