Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email that identify theft protections were cancelled on my Discover account. I inquired on my account through the Discover app as to why and it said my account was closed. I contacted Discover who indicated they sent a letter in XX/XX/XXXX. I never received that letter or an email indicating the account was to be closed for inactivity in XX/XX/XXXX. I contacted consumer service who stated I had to reapply for the card. I indicated this card with closed without my knowledge. They stated their systems do not allow them to reopen the account. They transferred me to an escalated contact who delivered the same information and told me I had to contact a voice agent. I contacted the voice agent who again stated they did not have the ability to reopen the closed account and that they did not need my permission to close the account. They stated they would resend the notice letter. I stated that had I been aware of the need for activity on the account I would have performed as this account had been opened for over a decade. The arbitrary closure of the account has an adverse impact on my credit. They stated that their systems do not have the ability to reopen the account. If they do not have this capability then do not have the ability to appropriate correct errors that they have caused which is a fundamental flaw in their servicing system to the detriment of the consumer. I request my account be reopened.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/, I applied for a personal loan with Discover, whom I have a credit card with. I applied because they notified me that I qualified for up to XXXX in personal loans. I applied and within hours I was denied. Then discover sent me an email that had my XXXX score wrong and wrong information from my credit report. When I called Discover and spoke to their rep the next day, neither the supervisor nor her subordinate could explain the false basis upon which the loan was denied. Because my credit is excellent and all the information Discover used to deny the loan was pretextual and false, the only conclusion I can draw is that Discover red-lined me via zip code and race. My credit is excellent and I literally just purchased a vehicle.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to dispute the following information that you are providing on my credit report : 30-60 days late payments. For starters You have been billing me incorrectly since XX/XX/2023. You have charged for me fraudulent charges and failed to remove all of the charges after I opened a claim. As you are aware all charges with balances create interest which Im forced to pay. I have written multiple letters for this to be corrected. The billing error has finally been updated XX/XX/2023. Which is also when you reported inaccurately late payments. XXXX, XXXX and XXXX shows that you state that there was not a payment made in XXXX or XXXX. That is False. Your rep stated that I made a {$70.00} payment on my account in XX/XX/2023. However I also made a {$280.00} payment and Discover credited my account an additional {$81.00}.

Consumer Complaint: I opened a credit card account with Discover, went through their verification process provided all the requested forms, but was denied a day after speaking with an account XXXX pertaining to a Better Business Bureau complaint I had filed weeks prior. I am convinced my account was closed in retaliation to my BBB complaint. Now my credit score is in jeopardy due to a closed account even though I never had access to the funds, never received the statement and never even made it to where I make my monthly payment.

Consumer Complaint: I contact discovery Bank about some charges on my credit card, and I put them in dispute, I never received any letters about my dispute, and I never did receive all the letters when the dispute was resolved. I got a bill dated XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX and they did a temporary credit on my account for XXXX XXXXXX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX they did a temporary credit for {XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX the dispute went in my favor for XXXX so when I get my bill dated XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX they put transactions on my bill they put XX/XX/XXXX. They did a reverse temporary credit for XXXX but that dispute was cleared on XXXX second so now on my new bill they put it like its a charge charge on my bill for XXXX. I had got a letter from them telling me they was going to repost the XXXX back on my bill so when I called them I explained them what happened so they told me they was gon na put the XXXX back in dispute. So I guess my bill like I said for XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX it says XX/XX/XXXX reverse temporary credit for XXXX XX/XX/XXXX repost of dispute transaction for XXXX. Now on that bill, they put down for my charges amounts {XXXX once XXXX twice plus XXXX which was cleared on XX/XX/XXXX and I do not see my credits on my statements for those amounts and I did not ask them to the XXXX back in dispute because it was already cleared on XX/XX/XXXX. I have a problem they are putting these transactions on my statement for me to add in to get the balance of my state statements, but I still dont see my credits, and I want my credits and these dispute should not have been all over the place and I should have received letters from them, which I never got. I should have received the letter when they get the dispute answers they dont send them, and when I put the dispute in, they never sent me a letter and said it was in dispute. They never sent me a letter saying it was a temporary credit, now I got all these charges added into my bill for the month of XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX another XXXX XXXXXXXX cents and whats so strange they put down XX/XX/XXXX for the {XXXX on my XXXX bill and like I said it was cleared up in XX/XX/XXXX on my XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. And when I pay my bill, I pay the full amount.
