Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: This account is now listed on my consumer reports as a charge off. It is illegal to post income on my consumer report, and a charge off is considered income by the IRS, and an institution can not report something as both income and debt..so why is income being reported on my consumer report? I know that a 1099-C had to be filed, and I never received a copy of it. Violations noted in my letter ( see attachment that was mailed XX/XX/2022 without response from the company ) : 15 USC 1601 ( a ) 15 USC 1602 ( k ). 15 USC 1602 ( p ). 15 USC 1681b ( a ) ( 2 ).

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: I created a XXXX XXXX account and saw that I had a couple credit cards opened in my name unknowingly. One of the banks that this account was opened for was Discover bank back in XXXX. Discover bank closed the account in XXXX due to failed payment and it said I owe them {$1100.00}. Ive been trying to dispute these allegations for the longest by phone or the credit karma app nothing has worked I even gave them my correct LEGAL information.
