Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Denied request to lower payments
Consumer Complaint: So I have been going through a lot of financial turmoil due to extremely high car payments on an extremely high interest loan and reached out to my lender as well but no solution. Also, adding me to delinquent status tanked my credit report deeply and now bc of this I can not apply for anything & no one else will refinance my loan.

Consumer Complaint: We test-drove a used vehicle from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) in XXXX XXXX, VA on XX/XX/2023. We liked the car, and made a deal based upon a written guarantee that the dealer would replace the infotainment system. We put {$4000.00} down in cash. We had told them, up front, that we could buy it for cash. Their loan " officer '' drew up a contract, but failed to even ask us if we wanted a : loan, " Service Contract '' ( {$2500.00} ) nor did he discuss : Loan terms, loan rates or length of the loan. He quickly ran us through the details of the Buyer 's Order and asked us to sign, etc. Later that same evening, we examined the contract and realized that this company is one of those infamous used car dealers who thrive on exorbitant loans and quickly repossess the vehicle ( s ) as soon as ONE payment is missed, so that they can sell it to the next suckers. Over and over. I had texted the general manager of the dealership : XXXX XXXX, on both numbers : XXXX and XXXX that night. I had already looked the CFPB up and told XXXX XXXX the deal was off unless he cancelled the loan from Consumer Acceptance Corporation " XXXX ''. Primarily, because XXXX XXXX ( loan agent ) did not ASK us if we even wanted a loan, much less a warranty, plus the details above. He agreed to cancel the loan, and later told me that he had called XXXX and that they would send him papers acknowledging that the loan was cancelled. We have not received any proof that this has actually been done. We returned to the dealer, with {$5000.00} CASH, on XX/XX/2023 and bought the car, and drove it home. Bill of CASH Sale in hand. Today, XX/XX/2023, I found a XXXX for the first payment to XXXX in the mail. See attached. I immediately called XXXX today, and spoke with " XXXX '', and I offered to send her a scan of the CASH Buyer 's Order, but she ( XXXX XXXX said that would not be necessary. She checked with their Verification Dept. who stated no request had been made by XXXX XXXX or anyone else at XXXX XXXX XXXX. I then called XXXX XXXX XXXX again ) and he assured me ( again ) that he would call XXXX, etc. I have not heard from him since and sent him an e-mail with my concerns. He has not responded to that either. I researched Consumer Acceptance Corporation and their " Service Contract '' " company '' and found nothing but complaints about both from many consumers.

Consumer Complaint: Dear CFPB, I, XXXX XXXX, financed a vehicle with : Credit Acceptance Corporation, At Business : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX At Address : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX TN XXXX, On Date : XX/XX/XXXX, With Vehicle Details : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX VIN # : XXXX Unfortunately, my experience with this vehicle has been nothing short of a nightmare. Just three days after purchasing the vehicle, the engine suddenly failed on the highway, putting my life and the lives of other drivers at extreme risk. After conducting research, I discovered that this vehicle has numerous and dangerous engine manufacturer defects that have occurred with thousands of XXXX XXXX, as evidenced by the class action lawsuit against XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. The engine defects cause extreme oil consumption, rendering my vehicle unusable and unsafe to drive. This defect is life-threatening and dangerous, causing significant financial losses, missed job opportunities, and XXXX. It is clear that this vehicle was sold to me as a lemon in unsafe and dangerous conditions. While I assume that 1 XXXX XXXX XXXX and Credit Acceptance Corporation were not aware of the XXXX manufacturer defect prior to selling, it is your responsibility as the manufacturer to recall these vehicles and provide a safe and reliable replacement. I trusted XXXX XXXX XXXX and this dealership to provide a reliable vehicle that customers can count on. Instead, I find myself in a precarious and very life-threatening driving situation. I demand a recall of my vehicle 's engine and a replacement that is safe and reliable. I find it also appropriate to request a temporary loaner vehicle while mine is being repaired. I understand that issues can arise with used vehicles, but I believe that it is the responsibility of the car manufacturer, dealership & financer to ensure that any issues are identified & addressed prior to sale. Given the occurrence of the life-threatening incidents as a result of this vehicle, I feel this is the only acceptable course of action.
