Consumer Complaint: I purchased a XXXX XXXX I was told and viewed a work slip for repairs on the car as I took possession of it. I followed up with a mechanic at the car dealership set the appointment up with. The mechanic said he would attempt to repair the car however he said it needed extensive work. We called back to the car dealership and was told that they would only do one repair to the head gasket. I personally paid for the second head gasket in order to keep the car from not smoking constantly. Again the same mechanic attempted to fix the car I went back to the dealership to see if there was something that they could do to assist me to give me another call I was told at that time it was on me even though they had filled out a work request slip. After spending close to XXXX dollars and Reporting this to credit acceptance and the manager at the car dealership I returned the vehicle. 4 years later there has constantly been reports on my credit saying that I owe money and there's interest accumulated as if I am in possession of this car when I explained the situation I was told to file a complaint.

Issue: Repossession
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: In early 2019 Credit Acceptance Corporation had the understanding that I was unable to pay my bill. I voluntarily repossessed the vehicle due to not being able to make payments they stated that they would then put it under voluntary repossession and I wouldnt be responsible for the balance of {$13000.00} for a used vehicle. When you pull my credit report it does not show on the report. But when you pull my public records it shows they are trying to garnish my paychecks in which I had no knowledge of this and havent spoken to anyone about this. To my understanding once the car was out of my hands it was not going to be on my credit report or I would have my paychecks garnished.

Issue: Getting a loan or lease
Subissue: Fraudulent loan
Consumer Complaint: I met my the. Wife at XXXX XXXX XXXX sales because she asked me if I would co-sign for her to get a car. When I get there the guy basically starts asking me all these questions that seemed normal so I respond but the whole time I never see her doing paperwork or being asked questions. I just figured she would after I did. So he comes over and stands right up against me and starts telling me to sign here and here all while rushing me the whole time. I told him I wanted to read them and his response was it is just standard stuff.. a little bit later he comes back and hands her the keys. We leave and a few days later Im checking my credit and see I have a {$18000.00} dollar auto loan.. come to find out her credit wasnt good enough to even put her on the loan so instead of me just co-signing he put the car 100 % in my name. Thats not something I agreed to do. He may have had me sign a paper or something but he wouldnt give me time to read them plus he lied to me about other things and papers as well. He told me she got a awesome 2 year top of the line warranty that the lender GAVE her but when I started going through all the paperwork to see what happened I saw that they actually charged her, well me, {$2000.00} dollars extra for that great warranty but turns out it was the bottom of the bottom warranty program and the reviews say its basically impossible to use. So theres another lie. So a couple months later her and I split up because Im mad he didnt talk to me or tell me that l was using my credit that I spent the last 2 years working so hard that it cost me my marriage. I got my credit all the way the way up to over XXXX. And just yesterday I saw it dropped in just one moment over XXXX points not to mention now the car has a blown motor because she had issues with it literally from the XXXX day she had the car. But yet that amazing warranty is supposed to cover engine work but I doubt it. So now the car is about to get repossessed and thats going to hurt my credit even worse. I busted my XXXX building up my score because I wanted to buy a house for me and my XXXX kids for when her and i divorce but now I have no idea what Im going to do. I cant afford the rent on a place big enough for us and l am scared. I cant end up without a home.! And yes Im mad at her because I dont understand how she didnt know he was doing this but at the same time he even had me thinking it was in her name. I just want this loan taken off my credit and for them to do whatever it is the have to do to get my credit score back up. I mean this is embarrassing its so low.

Issue: Getting a loan or lease
Subissue: Fraudulent loan
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I purchased a car at a reputable dealership in NY and was offered the Credit Acceptance XXXX XXXX loan. I was a newly divorced, single mom with not much credit and in need of a car. I was mislead to believe this was an honest loan company, but they have been predatory and changed the terms of the loan I signed up for, and have been fraudulent with me multiple times. I have paid every month, however, during the pandemic when income was dangerously low, the company said they are offering loan holders a payment hiatus with no penalties until things improved in our country 's workforce. Even though I was told by Credit Acceptance that I could resume payments at a later date, I still paid {$200.00} per month ( original monthly amount was {$500.00} ). After the pandemic crisis, my balance went up astronomically, and I was saddled with enormous late payments, interest and hidden fees. They also reported those months as late payments to the credit bureau and my account is listed as in delinquency. This was fraudulent and has severely impacted my credit score rating. I am in an enormous amount of debt now with this loan. The loanbalance is almost the same as when I bought the car, and even though I pay auto-debit {$500.00} per month every month, on time, they continue to charge me with monthly late fees and say they wont take the late fee or delinquent status off my credit report unless I pay {$11000.00} immediately. I have been paying the agreed {$500.00} per month for many, many months now! When I told customer service recently that my pandemic arrangement never included information about going into delinquency, they denied it. They flat-out lied. Customer service seemed more than happy to work with me in the height of the pandemic, and I was always on top of communicating with them ( and how could I not -- they called me multiple times a day, bordering the. fine line of harassment ). Meanwhile, I am afraid this old car will die before I can sell it. The worth of the car is now MUCH lower than the loan balance. My credit is suffering. Before I set up my auto-debit, I was 1 day late with my payment and they repossessed my car twice. I feel imprisoned by this scam company with no way out. I am a single mom who works very hard and pays all my bills on time. I am trying to build my credit and future for my child and this terrible company is ruining any chances I could ever have to purchase a home or another car or get ahead.
