Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Denied request to lower payments
Consumer Complaint: I initially took out the auto loan in XXXX. I called to ask if they could change my due date because the date they gave was before my pay period. They responded they don't do that. In the fall of XXXX I missed a payment due to a tax bill. Every payment afterwards has been on time. I have payment arrangements that i have kept to the day. XXXX and XXXX of XXXX I sent letters requesting to remove late charges thru my credit repair due to all other payments were on time. I received a letter back from them stating that my request was frivolous and irrelevant. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to ask if I have any options available like deferment and I was advised no, they don't offer anything to help you get back on track. She offered to send a request to the credit dept. to dispute my request and I told her that I had done that already which was why I was calling. I advised that I received the letter from them stating that my request was frivolous. She apologized and ended the call. This company only receives payments. They don't do anything to assist the customer if they have payment issues. Because my payments keep getting reported late, my credit score can not recover. Therefore, I can't refinance my loan. So basically I'm screwed because i can't afford the extra payment to stop them from reporting the payments late every month. Had I known that they don't offer anything to help their customers I wouldn't have taken the loan. It's basically set up to cause you to fail and be stuck in a loan that benefits no one but them. They refuse to offer any option to help the customer at all even though you advise that you are struggling, but willing to continue payments but need a little help. They do not operate like the average finance company that will offer you some form of assistance to keep you on track. They should not be allowed to get away with doing this to people. I will never be able to get my credit on track if this keeps up.

Consumer Complaint: I called to voluntarily surrender the XXXX XXXX XXXX on Friday, XX/XX/XXXX. The woman I spoke with said it would take 72 hours for an XXXX XXXX military search. On Sunday ( XX/XX/XXXX ), XXXX XXXX texted me from XXXX asking me if it was ready for them to pick up that night. They came and picked it up. I attached a video from my camera. I told her the keys were in the cupholder and she needed gas because the gas light was on. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received the attached letter from Credit Acceptance stating this was a repossession. It was not a involuntary repossession, I surrendered it. I sent the attached email to the compliance analyst XXXX XXXX stating I had voluntarily surrendered it. I sent it to her because she was the only email contact I had. Credit Acceptance took it upon themselves to mark my account " do not contact '' via email. I voluntarily surrendered the car. Credit acceptance has only credited my payments to their {$17000.00} finance charge. Only {$100.00} of the original loan balance has been paid off. From XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, I paid {$520.00} a month. XX/XX/XXXX I paid {$500.00}. None of those payments went to the loan balance that shows on my credit. The credit bureaus all stated the information they receive from Credit Acceptance is what is reported on my credit report. Please see complaint XXXX for reference.

Consumer Complaint: I have had an auto loan with Credit Acceptance sinceXX/XX/2019. I was XXXX at the time and didnt know any better when I got the car. They sold it to me for XXXX, but somehow by the time I signed the contract I owed {$19000.00} and now ( 4 years later ) I still owe roughly {$5000.00}. For about half a year now, I have been trying to get a new vehicle because I now realize I way overpaid for my car. I was told at the dealership, when I bought it, that in a couple years I could refinance my car, only to find out after a couple of years that Credit Acceptance doesnt refinance cars. I have had a hard time getting it refinanced through anybody else ever since. I have also tried selling and trading in my car, but everywhere I turn, I cant even get payoff for my car due to how much I overpaid for it. I am struggling making my payments and I can not get out from under this car. I am not the only person I know in my town that bought a car from these people, only to severely regret it later. I wish I wouldve had someone to guide me when I got this car, but I didnt and now 4 years later, Im still paying the consequences.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a vehicle from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX through Credit Acceptance corporation last XXXX, XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX the car stopped working while I was in it. A mechanic diagnosed the car with having an illegal gps starter disabling device on it and this was the cause of it not working. I contacted both parties the dealership and the finance company, XXXX XXXX and Credit acceptance. XXXX XXXXXXXX told me that they dont use gps trackers and I should contact Credit acceptance. Credit Acceptance told me that they dont use gps trackers either and I should contact the dealership. When shown pictures of the gps device the dealership said they didnt put it there. I told them if they didnt they shouldve removed it before selling me the car. They said they werent responsible for removing it. Credit acceptance hasnt responded to me in over a week. Only saying they dont use gps devices anymore. Every time I call they say my case is being reviewed and someone will be in touch. I feel there is some shady dealings happening and they are both working hand in hand with each other.
