Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Credit Acceptance Corporation, this was an account that became active on my account in XXXX. This was a result of fraud someone used my name and social security along with drivers license and signed under my name for a auto loan that Ive been fighting for the past four years. I finally thought it was resolved in XXXX when the account seemed to have dropped off my credit file and wasnt reporting showed up closed when I looked on XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX and XXXX. Then all of a sudden in XXXX I saw it come back and drop my credit score down. I have tried to resolve this so many times between XXXX and XXXX, with nothing done by the company stating that they cant do anything even though I told them it was fraud and that I have nothing to do with the joint owner or the address they have on file. Im not involved in any of this. They even told me that the car was totaled in XXXX of XXXX and the account was closed yet all of a sudden its back on my credit file. I shouldnt have to pay for others criminal activity. Im trying to live a honest hardworking life with my family, and I cant even get a leg up with my own business due to the negative affects of the loan in question. This isnt my loan it was never authorized by me or given any form of cosent u was never aware of it at a all.

Consumer Complaint: I voluntarily Repoed the vehicle. The vehicle was repossessed in XX/XX/XXXX. I have called Credit Acceptance and they do not do anything for me. They told me after the car was sold in auction they were stop reporting on my credit. its been a few months now and they still keep reporting saying Im behind on my payments when the car was repossessed voluntarily. The balance continues to increase although I dont have the vehicle and they told me they would stop reporting. The company never sent me a letter or any statements whenever I would make my payments when I had the vehicle it was all made over the phone.

Consumer Complaint: My pay checks were being garnished in XXXX so I had to file a motion to do installment which was granted in XX/XX/XXXX my Installment is to pay {$150.00} a month until paid in full but credit acceptance is negatively reporting on my credit every month as missed payment as if the loan is still open when we went to court in XX/XX/XXXX. It was ordered by the court I pay $ XXXX monthly if not they would garnish my checks as of XX/XX/XXXX over a year ago and they are still reporting negative on my report. I went back to court and I was able to have the payments lowered to {$75.00}. Even after the judge ordered the garnishments to stop. Credit acceptance refused and still took money from my income ultimately they ended up having to pay me my money back. So Credit acceptance is not a good company they forced payments from me That I didnt have.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a 2016 about 2 to 3 years ago and still paying a high monthly payment with a high balance. If I can continue to pay, i would have paid for this used car twice due to high interest rate. This is very unfair and needs to be stopped. When I purchsed the car it had about XXXX miles and i was in a Chapter XXXX and was not to exceed XXXX dollars. They sold me the car for abouyXXXX and added XXXX in interest. This is so very unfair. I have been struggling to pay XXXX monthly for the last several years and I have fallen behind due to lack of work and a lack of finances.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: I am disputing the balance of XXXX of a XXXX XXXX XXXX, by credit acceptance. I have been in constant communication with the Credit Acceptance Corporation since the purchase of the vehicle in XXXX. Immediately following the purchase, the vehicle engine went up and had to be replaced. Following shortly after engine going up, the radiator went up on the vehicle. I have been trying to give possession of the vehicle back to credit acceptance since XXXX. Am have expressed numerous times that the vehicle was a lemon and that they could come pick the vehicle up from a location given because I no longer wanted to deal with the trouble. They told me several times that they would pick the vehicle up over the course of the year of XXXX. They then told me that they were not interested in possession of the vehicle. I at that point took the tags and insurance off of the vehicle and stated again that they could come pick the vehicle up from the given location. They failed to do so. Then they sought out legal representation from the law firm of XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX to try to get me to pay a portion of the owed amount of the vehicle. I sent a response via certified mail to their law office stating the history I had with their client, the vehicle and how I tried repeatedly to negotiate with them. It was taken off my credit report shortly after and I hadnt heard anything since XXXX of XXXX. Now they have put the amount for the full price of the vehicle back on my credit report because the law firm is stating that they couldnt get in touch with me since XX/XX/XXXX. They have had my email address, cell phone and address at all times since dealing with me on this issue, so I know that the reason if not being able to contact me is a lie on their part. I have tried to no avail to handle this issue civilly with Credit Acceptance. At this time I have already disputed their claim to the XXXX company to have it removed completely from my credit report for good. They advised me to file a complaint with consumer finance so that what Im doing. Thank you for reading over this complaint.

Consumer Complaint: I have a concern about Credit Acceptance Corporation Auto Finance. my vehicle was involved in a auto accident back on XX/XX/2019. It was reported as a total loss to the company, CAC refused to let the GAP pay the remaining portion for the total loss claim. So now the account has been sitting with an unpaid balance of {$14000.00}, monthly payment reports on my credit report as {$0.00}. This account is well over 180 days past due and is no longer handle by CAC, they have an outside law firm handling this file for them and the refuse to either have it updated or removed from my credit report. They still have the account as open and active in their company but not handling the matter at hand. I asked them several times to have this matter removed or corrected. I was told by a representative that they can continue to keep my account open as long as they want to and have another agency collect on it for them. By law I know after 180 days of no payment the account has to be reported as charged off or closed. This company refuse to do so just to keep it open.
