Consumer Complaint: Due to financial hardships, I decided to turn in a car I could no longer afford. The car was returned to the lending company and an agreement made to pay monthly payments in the amount of {$50.00}. A few months into the arrangement, I was asked to increase my payments. I refused because I did not want to agree to a payment I could not afford. Therefore I continued making payments until XX/XX/2019. In XXXX of XXXX the company stop accepting my payments. My online account was disabled and I was told by a collection representative that payments were no longer being accepted and they were pursuing another means of collecting the payment. I tried for several weeks to speak with a supervisor. I was talked to in a very unprofessional manner from several representatives to include the supervisor. I asked for statements and records of my account and was never sent that information. In XXXX I received an email from my HR department notifying me of a garnishment for this account. Days later I received a letter from the company about the garnishment. I attempted to appeal the decision and make several settlement offers but each offer was denied and countered with an amount not much less than the balance this company claim I owed. I've since attempted to offer a settlement but again was countered with an amount not much less than one of the balances this company has reported I owed. The amount the company says I owe is always higher than the amount reported to the credit bureau.

Consumer Complaint: I obtained a vehicle at XXXX. I was financed at a 22.99 % through Credit Acceptance. After paying almost XXXX, I was advised that I still owe almost XXXX. To my horror, I did not realize that financing was almost at 50 % with Credit Acceptance until My vehicle was hit while it was parked. Insurance paid almost XXXX towards the vehicle and I was waiting for the Gap Insurance to take care of the remaining balance. During this time, I spoke to over 25 representatives who never advised me that Gap Insurance does not cover pass due balances. This drag out over a period of two months where more than 2 payments were missed while waiting for Gap Coverage. Once Gap Insurance was paid, they only paid about XXXX leaving another balance on the loan. Credit Acceptance failed to update my Credit with accurate information. I continued to callback and once this was paid was when I was advised that Gap Insurance does not pay past due balances. I called to advised the Representative at Credit Acceptance that this seems like unfair practices as out of the 25 representatives I spoke to, no one ever offered me a payment plan during this entire ordeal. I was blindsided at how they purposely withheld information from the consumer. I was concerned with getting my balance paid off since I paid extra to have Gap Insurance for those unfortunate incidences that may occur in life. Out of all the questions I asked to insure that they claim was paid off by Gap Insurance, I don't understand why this information was withheld when as a consumer. I spoke to XXXX in the Insurance Department at Credit Acceptance who is a Senior Specialist on XX/XX/21 at XXXX Central Time. She advised that the only notes that it shows on my Account is that I called regarding Gap Insurance and does not have any additional notes. I advised her that I was not advised by any of the representatives that Gap doesn't cover past due payments that were accrued prior to Gap Closing. I advised that I find that the representatives are unprofessional and do the minimal work and that is why I am having this dilemma on this account. I requested to speak to another Supervisor due to her condescending tone and nature. I spoke to XXXX who is a Senior Specialist in the Insurance Department who advised that I still had a balance on the account. When asked what the remaining balance on the account was, he advised he could not give me that information as the account had been transferred to a different department. This is just one of the instances of how Credit Acceptance Representatives manage Customers Accounts and why I and so many other consumers have fell victim to the Unfair Practices at Credit Acceptance. I spoke to XXXX in the Collection Department at Credit Acceptance as well who also would not make any adjustment to the account based upon the term. I believe that Credit Acceptance is taking advantage of people who have less that perfect credit. I am not sure of the State or Federal Statues regarding financing individuals but somehow this company is getting away with financing individuals at almost 50 % - 65 % of the vehicle that they purchased. I know it seems like they have dotted all their i 's and crossed all their t 's, but as a consumer how our we getting sucked into these type of situations without it being required to put the information in writing that the Consumer can understand versus a whole stack of paper the dealer wants you to read through during closing? I believe there should be some type of class action lawsuit where consumers who have experienced this same type of horror with Credit Acceptance can have some justice. My experience was around XXXX and not only was I a great customer who made all my payments on-time prior to someone hitting my car, but I was a customer who wanted to ensure that I did everything possible to ensure this loan was paid off. I paid XXXX in 2 years and they still carried over the APR on the loan for the 5 year term. How are they able to charge APR for 5 years for a contract that only went 2.5 years? There is something very wrong with Credit Acceptance business practices and I would like to know how they are able to do business where they are able to charge twice for a car and collect the full APR on a contract without fulfilling the entire contract?

Consumer Complaint: Financed a car on XX/XX/2020 the loan is for XXXX the interest rate is 22.99 % this loan is financed through a corporation called XXXX XXXX. As per Florida Law unless the loan is through a bank or N.A. The interest rate is capped at 18 % clearly 22.99 is over that cap, and almost to the predatory rate that is deemed a misdemeanor by the state of Florida. During my car buying experience I was asked for a down payment of XXXX when I went to sign for the car and additional XXXX $ was then asked for on the down payment.

Consumer Complaint: I've experienced some rough patches in life that were very difficult to handle due to some some personal issues. I have always tried my best to get every single payment in on time, however there were a few times in the past that I was late. Ever since then, I have been a great customer and have even paid early a few times. With the exception of those few late payments, my track record for paying on time has been great. However, the few times that I was late shows up on my credit report and this can make it extremely hard to qualify for a mortgage, auto loan, etc. as I'm sure you know.

Consumer Complaint: Ok so the Credit Acceptance calls several times daily are irritating. let me tell you why .... 1. ) Covid XXXX up XXXX 2. ) My husband left XX/XX/XXXX and stuck me with every single bill 3. ) I lost my job due to covid XX/XX/XXXX and WAS NOT eligible for unemployment 4. ) I have a XXXX that has XXXX XXXX and XXXX 5. ) THEY TOOK OUT DOUBLE PAYMENTS FROM XXXX, XXXX, XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE!!!!! 6. ) Because of said double payments being taken, I technically didn't owe a car payment until XX/XX/XXXX BUT they claimed I was several months behind even though I wasn't because of the non-authorized payments being taken. Now, I have been without a vehicle since XX/XX/XXXX because the repo 'd and I'm not able to get my XXXX to her XXXX treatments. So no, when they call, I will not answer. I made {$480.00} wages in XXXX because of covid. That's less than my car payment of $ XXXX. My tax money from last tax season was set aside for that payment until they took out double payments. So yeah, please tell me why I should answer my phone when they are this terrible. I had a XXXX XXXX ... .which isn't the car I wanted originally. I wanted one that was cheaper that I would be able to pay off in 24 months not 5 1/2 years at $ XXXX but they refused to approve a cheaper car in my budget. Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I went to XXXX XXXX in XXXX, CO. It was a XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. I was working with XXXX XXXX and felt pressured into buying this vehicle. The vehicle is only worth {$2000.00} but they put me in a loan that when everything was said and done the interests of the vehicle was well over the value of the car. I ended up signing the finance loan and felt a little off. I called my Dad and husband and both told me to tell them I do not want the vehicle and to not take possession. I never took possession of the vehicle and told them in a text and showed up to the dealership later in the day telling them I no longer want the vehicle. I went with a different company and the finance manager, I believe his name is XXXX, told me I had no choice but to take possession of the vehicle. I then called Credit Acceptance, as they are the ones who my loan is through anf told them the situation anf they also told me there was nothing I could do. After doing more research I have a right to say no to buying a vehicle but I would take a penalty I was never offered this. I never left the lot with the car in my possession. They told me it was not ready to leave the lot as they needed to complete some work in the vehicle. XXXX ( again I could be using the wrong name ) was very hostile and told me if I do not take possession of the vehicle he will have it towed to my house and dropped off. I told him again do not do that as I am not taking possession of this vehicle. He then hung up on me and later that day the vehicle wad towed to my house and keys were left on my NEIGHBORS doorstep. No one signed for the vehicle stating it was dropped off with no damages and dropped off at the correct place. I have been told by multiple people to fight this and that the sell was not by the books. I want this vehicle off of my credit. I can not afford two car payments especially on a vehicle I did not want. I have made enough payments that the car itself is paid off. Now all I am paying is interest. Can someone Please help me?

Consumer Complaint: I have contacted Credit Acceptance various times to notify them that their inaccurate reporting is making it strenuous on credit reporting agencies to follow there duty of reporting accurate information on consumer credit files but being that the alleged creditor is responsible for submitting the correct information in metro 2 format so that the credit agencies have the same information to work from. The account balance and past due balance is wrong on XXXX and XXXX causing my debt to credit ratio to negatively effect my credit score.on XXXX this alleged account shows {$0.00} received payment but shows an alleged last payment date and the account being paid in full I attached a recent dispute I wrote but to Credit acceptance about this matter.
