Issue: Getting a loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with additional add-on products or services purchased with the loan
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX at the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX dealership I signed a retail installment contract with credit acceptance for a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have recently learned that the contract is faulty due to the additional charges with loan. In the beginning credit acceptance as a lending company is not accommodating to their customers. Before payments were due I asked for a different pay date due to my pay period but was denied. Over the course of the loan credit acceptance has reported incorrect dates and payment amounts to my credit report. In addition to massive hidden fees I have accumulated on my account the numbers are not correct for how much is owned on the car loan. The numbers are different on all three credit reports. Once it took me months to dispute charges and receive a resolution for hidden fees. Credit acceptance do not issue bill statements to customers its only by request, on the website the customer has limited access to their account. The customer can only view current and past due amounts. Credit acceptance as a lender is not professional by conducting business as such. On XX/XX/XXXX th vehicle was repossessed, I recently learned the vehicle was damaged under the care of the third party repossession company the vehicle is now deemed inoperable and being sold at auction. I have invested in over {$21000.00} in a vehicle that was worth {$13000.00} at the time. Furthermore the vehicle is now inoperable due to someone else negligence. I have contacted credit acceptance regarding the damages i discovered on the auction website to the vehicle on XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I was approved for a {$35000.00} loan for a XXXX XXXX XXXX with XXXX miles on it at purchase time which was in the month of XX/XX/XXXX. My monthly payments were {$850.00} a month. I did this with the understanding that this would improve my credit and overall help me even though my monthly payments were so high. I managed to make it seven months. I had employment change which i called and they did not offer any type of payment arrangement for me at that time. I got behind on my car loan, I then called again begging for a solution. That when I was told that I just needed to surrender the vehicle. Which I did. My car sat and they just kept sending me late bills and no one ever came to get it. I called multiple times thereafter and at each call they were just seeking payment for my past due balance and I had to explain each time that I had already surrendered the vehicle a month prior. To which i went through the entire process of setting that up and still yet another two weeks went by. They just finally picked up my vehicle yesterday XX/XX/XXXX after I called wondering why it has taken three months and multiple calls to get my car picked up to auction off. I am very upset and saddened that I paid consistently an insane amount of money only to be told they couldn't work with me when i had sudden health issues and job change. Now I am not only out a large amount of money, my credit is ruined and I no longer have a vehicle of my own as a mother to children this is very discouraging. This was my way to rebuild and they made it impossible. There isnt enough help for us middle class people trying to live life by a number to have anything in life, a.k.a a credit score. Someone please help me.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Lender trying to repossess or disable the vehicle
Consumer Complaint: Credit Acceptance is a predatory loan company that uses overly agressive debt collection tactics against their customers. They misrepresent the guidelines of their loans to potential customers and incentivize auto dealers into issuing these loans. My vehicle was repossessed, even though I was actively attempting to work with the company to get my payments made on time and in a way that I could afford. When the vehicle was repossessed, it was taken to auction at a location over a hour away from my home, even though there are multiple other auto auction locations much closer to where I live. I paid the amount to release the vehicle, but they will not return the vehicle and expect me to find transportation XXXX miles away to retrieve the vehicle. After contacting customer support, I found that this is a tactic of theirs because they know that the further away they take the vehicle, the less likely it is for the individual to retrieve the vehicle and they can then put it up for auction. Credit Acceptance is a predatory loan company that takes advantage of people with low credit scores and people that are in financial hardship. I would highly recommend not doing business with them. I will be persuing legal action against them and I suggest anyone else with similar issues do the same.

Subissue: Problem with fees charged
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2022, I was behind 3 car payments which is about {$1600.00}. In late XX/XX/2022, I set up an automatic payment of {$500.00} bi-weekly. To date, I have paid over {$2000.00} and Credit Acceptance is still saying I owe about {$1500.00}. Why? Because my car payment, according to them, is due on the XXXX of each month and even though I set up and fulfilled my {$500.00} bi-weekly payments for the past XXXX weeks, the payments that are supposedly due on the XXXX of each month are rolled over. I'm also charged an additional {$24.00} a month for late fees. I called the company today and asked them if I can change the date of my scheduled payment ( not the auto payment I set up ). I was told no. How can a finance company not accommodate their customer? In addition, charging me extra late fees when I have been paying {$1000.00} monthly. At this rate, I will, as stated previously, die paying this debt off. This is my second complaint of predatory financial practices for Credit Acceptance. This is unfair should be illegal.
