Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days
Consumer Complaint: First up I was never given my interest rate on this loan but once I had a problem than I found out it was 28 % or more and than included coverage for repairs. It was a used car and I didn't even had for a year the suv year was a XXXX and I went to a gas station and it started smoking and I had it towed!!! When I got in contact with Credit Acceptance the mechanic called them and he was told what they wanted him to do to find the problem with no guarantee they would pay him and then Credit Acceptance gave me the mechanics they deal with. Had it towed again and the mechanic did what they told him and told him they were not going to pay normal wear and tear!!! He said the mileage was turned back and the engine number was scratched off!!! I than connected them and told them. I than wrote a letter registered mail to pick it up and I was voluntary returning it back to them. They in turn called the mechanic and told him they didn't want it. But he followed their instructions. I than got the attorney General office in DC and while I was on the line their Lawyer said they didn't want and do anything they want with the suv. They couldn't make any money off. The attorney General office said the insurance coverage that they had on the car people have had the similar problem and they say the same answer normal wear and tear. I had stayed on oil changes etc... They keep harassing me constantly!!! I want this removed off my Credit Report it's been XX/XX/XXXX and so many days they Report I'm so many days over due!!! It's an illegal practice they are doing. I'm XXXX and XXXX XXXX!!! I don't owe them anything!!! They owe me!!!

Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of Credit Acceptance ( CAC ) deceptive loan practices. Their deceptive practices include their algorithmic determination for loans, how that algorithm is then used to incentivize dealers to overly inflate vehicle prices, how the true cost of CAC credit is higher than disclosed on the CAC loan agreements and they are quick to reposes a vehicle once they hear from you that you will have difficulties with the loan payments. I purchased a vehicle through CAC in XXXX and made timely payments until I fell on financial hardship. In XXXX I reached out to CAC to attempt to resolve or lower my payments to no avail. I reached out again in XXXX to try to turn the vehicle in but received no feedback or assistance and repossessed the vehicle within 24 hours of me trying to turn it in.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX used deceptive practices to issue an auto loan to me and my husband. After complaining to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX used Covid 19 Pandemic as an excuse to their predatory lending practices stating that the courts weren't open and further more lied by stating they pleaded with an Attorney to put a rush on having some documents signed. Not sure how many times this company has been deceptive to the public but we brought the XXXX in XXXX not XXXX so the information they are providing as an excuse is completely false. The full response is with the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and is completely false. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX originated this loan and then sold it to Credit Acceptance Corporation for monetary gain. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX did not act in the best interest of me and my husband as consumers but instead originated a loan so that Credit Acceptance Corporation could reward them with bonus checks for how much money the would be projected to make off me and my husband. Credit Acceptance Corporation uses software to project how much money they would make off of loans that are originated for consumers that could not offer them by tacking on unnecessary products/items. Credit Acceptance Corporation knew that me and my husband could not offer this loan through probability factors but still accepted it knowing that we would default, messed up credit score and ultimately end in reprocession ceasing wages and having to start the rurally cycle over because at the end of the day consumers need vehicles no matter what credit score, they have. CFPB and New York Attorney General are currently XXXX XXXX for being deceptive to consumers.

Consumer Complaint: I received a payment book in the mail for a car loan in my name I didnt take out or sign for. Some one took my identity and went to buy a car. They signed a loan without my permission. It has also been late every month. Did I try to help the co-signer, yes. Never agreed to put anything in my name. I even told the dealership I would not put anything in my name. I have never made a payment. This should show it is not my bill.

Consumer Complaint: I have an auto loan with Credit Acceptance that was approved in XX/XX/XXXX. I was making payments, and fell behind when the Covid hit and the community was, and still is on a stay at home mandate. The main concern is that I feel that the payment, interest rate isn't accurate. Maybe my interest rate isn't correct? There was an error on the odometer also when I initially purchased the vehicle. The Credit Acceptance was sending me letters for non-payment, even during covid, to pay the balance in full, then suddenly they wanted to settle for {$5000.00} I believe in XXXX, and at the beginning of XXXX they sent me a settlement letter that they would settle the debt for a little over {$6200.00}, reporting to the Credit Bureaus as settlement plaid less than full. The total payoff balance is {$33000.00} and the car is a XXXX XXXX XXXX.
