Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: Jefferson Capital Systems , LLC, a national debt collector, is attempting to collect on a debt that has been processed and accepted by XXXX, an insurance company. The alleged debt arises from XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$4000.00} for four devices and on months service with late fees ( two phones for {$680.00} each, two tablets for {$760.00} each and one hotspot device for {$85.00} ). The telephone numbers and corresponding insurance claim numbers associated with each device are XXXX claim number XXXX for an XXXX, XXXX claim number XXXX for an XXXX, XXXX claim number XXXX for an XXXX, XXXX claim number XXXX for an XXXX, and XXXX for the service on the hot spot device which I own. I tried to pay the {$85.00} for the one month of service with late fee, but I was told by XXXX that the account ( account number XXXX ) had been forwarded to collections. I then informed XXXX XXXX that they are attempting to collect twice and are double dipping while committing at least two criminal acts of wire fraud and insurance fraud as well as violating State and Federal debt collation regulations and laws. I have elected not to have my devices replaced after the claims were accepted by the insurance company and, as such, XXXX had billed me for and placed charges on my account for the replacement devices which has now been forwarded to this collection agency. While I understand the norm is to replace the devices and then bill the account for the newly replaced devices that is not the case in this instance. Therefore, no money is due by me for the devices that the insurance company paid out on. XXXX XXXX has sold the debt associated with my account to this collection agency for an undisclosed amount and the debt collector is now trying to solicit payment on a debt that, except for the {$85.00}, has already been, or should have been, satisfied. In resolution of the double dipping attempt by this collection agency I would like full forgiveness of the debt by both the collection agency and XXXX XXXX along with updated credit reported data provided to all credit reporting agencies. I would also like this CFPB complaint to be sent to the appropriate State and federal regulatory agencies for a thorough and complete investigation to determine if this practice and type of behavior by the companies involved is the norm as a matter of ordinary business practices including, but not limited to, the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ).

Consumer Complaint: XXXX direct marketing is a very old debt that keeps selling my information to collection agencies. This debt is so old that I honestly dont recall the date of inception. It is negatively affecting my credit. The collection agency is showing a date of 2016 which is definitely incorrect. The debt is for {$490.00} and that is also incorrect. No product XXXX sells costs that much. Due to this collection on my credit report, my score is severely affected. I have made attempts to get this removed by phone but to no avail.

Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report this week and I found multiple inaccuracies on my credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus from a collection company that I never have dealt with before. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I have disputed this item with the credit reporting agency and they reported you confirmed the account as valid. I honestly do not believe to ever have any relationship with this collection agency or original creditor. Also there are several inaccuracies with this account the way it's reporting and that's a total violation of FCRA and FDCPA laws and regulations. In a good faith effort to resolve the matter amicably, I must demand proof of this debt, specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature, as well as proof of your authority in this matter. Absent such proof, you must correct any erroneous reports of this past debt as mine. I am writing to request that you please provide the following information : 1. Please evidence your authorization under 15 USC 1692 ( e ) and 15 USC 1692 ( f ) in this alleged matter. 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 3. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 4. Please evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state. 5. Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. 6. Please provide a complete account history, including any charges added for collection activity. You have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to provide strict proof of contract. In the event you can not provide strict proof of contract, you must cease and desist any and all collection efforts and immediately remove any derogatory information reported to the consumer reporting agencies. In addition, you will need to provide me your agreement, in writing, that you are closing your file, ceasing collecting activity, and deleting all information related to this reference number from any and all credit reports youve furnished the information to. In the event you transfer this account to an attorney without providing proof of contract, and proving your claim, he/she will be immediate reported to the America Bar Association and Professional Liability Fund for code of ethics violations.

Consumer Complaint: I received a notification of a Collection Account on my credit report by Jefferson Capital Systems , LLC for {$340.00} this year from XXXX XXXX. I have not had a XXXX XXXX account for years, however as soon as I received that notification, I contacted the CEO 's office at XXXX XXXX. I told them that I did not owe this amount, that it consisted of charges that I never agreed to and that I had repeatedly told them that it was incorrect. The person I spoke with at the CEO 's office said 'Just a minute, I think I have a copy of your contract ' and then she got back on the phone and stated that there was no contract proving that I owed this amount. Therefore, I disputed this with the three Credit Reporting Bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ) online and I stated that these were Fraudulent Charges and that I wanted to see a Signed Contract and for the Debt to be Validated and Verified, and that if that could not be done that it should be removed from my credit report immediately. All that happened is that I heard back from the Credit Bureaus, online, with nothing in writing and nothing by mail, that Jefferson Capital had responded that the information was correct. I want to see a Signed Contract, and I want the Debt to be Verified and Validated, or for this collection account to be removed from my credit report with all three Credit Bureaus. I am XXXX years old and my only source of income is Social Security XXXX for XXXX XXXX and other Health Issues and this is exacerbating my XXXX and is harassment.
