Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem accessing account
Consumer Complaint: After repeatedly complaining about the theft of my accounts, Capital One sent me a letter, stating that they don't find any account in my name. In the subject line, they mention the account number ( endings ) XXXX and XXXX. You can see that for yourself in this publicly shared letter : XXXX XXXX XXXX In addition to the over XXXX XXXX USD ( the largest part from an inheritance from the XXXX family , that's the maiden name of my mother, and one of my security questions on file ), two payments have been sent and received by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX USD on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX XXXX USD on XX/XX/XXXX. Today. Furthermore, the " bank '' has lost their banking license several months ago, and they operate illegally. They've been cut off banking interfaces and lost their ability to perform manual transactions. After their website has been taken down, they put up a spoofed website. A simple traceroute shows you that. Also, I have recorded several Capital One XXXX calls. One " banker '' or CS states on the record that they see my " profile '', and, therefore, account ( s ). The second XXXX call is as obvious as it can get. A person who doesn't have the faintest idea about banking claims to work directly for the Capital One boss, but refused to provide his legal name. The call features a female voice changer. One of the calls is here : XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX You can listen to the second ( also to XXXX XXXX , and maybe even the FDIC or CFPB ) here : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX? XXXX - or on any popular podcast platform, on XXXX, and XXXX. Should the voice changer changed voice of the male playing " XXXX '' be cut out again, I'll gladly upload it again. Also, for your information : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2023, IN *XXXX XXXX XXXX Other Services XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX {$250.00} Charged {$250.00} for GUARANTEED appointment setting yet FAILED to set even XXXX single appointment. XXXX XXXX XXXX never delivered the service that was sold and promised. XXXX XXXX XXXX stated that it could not provide a refund as it paid an undisclosed 3rd party to perform the promised service for them and they were fleeced by the 3rd party. However, I did not pay the 3rd party, I paid XXXX XXXX XXXX. The 3rd party did not promise and GUARANTEE the service to me, XXXX XXXX XXXX did. As the paid for service was NEVER received, the fraudulent charge was disputed with Capital One. While the Fraudulently charged {$250.00} was temporarily credited by Capital One, the charge we posted back against the account today by Capital One WITH NO NOTICE BY PHONE, BY MAIL OR BY E-MAIL. When I phoned Capital One today, both their automated recording and their representative stated that the call was being recorded. However, when I stated that I would also record the call, the Capital One representative refused to discuss why Capital One re-billed the FRAUDULENT CHARGE or put the call through to a supervisor. What kind of one-way practice is this other than a blatant refusal to provide customer service or common decency? It's simply a way to conceal incompetence and a blatant failure to protect consumers from fraud per XXXX policy.

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX. I have received two calls from a company called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, the most recent was today, XX/XX/XXXX. They explained that I was part of a lawsuit and that they were calling to arbitrate the account on behalf of Capital one. Today after I told them for the 2nd time to stop calling me and to take me off their list they contacted a family member so I called them back. They claim they were hired by Capital One to Arbitrate a delinquent account. They had all my personal information, Full name, SSN, DOB, home address, Employer name. They threatened to call my employer when I told them they were wrong and that they were a phishing scam. The replied that they weren't which is why they had all my information. They provided me the last 4 numbers of an account I've never had ending XXXX XXXX, opened XX/XX/XXXX- last paid XX/XX/XXXX. The told me the last payment I made was {$180.00}. They said I received letters from Capital one informing me that the account was delinquent, and that they were hired to arbitrate before Capital One would take further legal action. They said they were looking for 2 years of compensation. They told me that I had this account set up on auto pay from a XXXX XXXX XXXX account that most likely expired. The information they were providing was accurate except I didn't have a capital one account from XXXX - XXXX. They had a significant amount of information on me. It's very concerning that they are harassing me, calling my family, and worst threatening to contact my employer. The telephone number was XXXX. I have reached out directly to Capital one with no response. Respectfully, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I am sending a formal complaint about capital one. There is a {$1200.00} charge ( {$800.00} plus {$400.00} ) from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/23 for gift cards that I purchased in order to receive concert tickets from XXXX. I did not receive the concert tickets. I provided capital one with a police report since the XXXX number I called to purchase tickets ended up being a fake phone number listed online. When I called XXXX, the representative told me she can not take credit cards or personal information so I need to purchase a gift card in order to receive the tickets. I have also filed reports with other agencies including the Federal Trade Commission, report # XXXX and the NY State Attorney General, report # XXXX. After multiple calls to Capital One explaining my situation in detail and providing the reports, I have been sent a final letter that the case is closed and that they are reapplying the charges. I feel that I should not be held responsible for these charges since I did not receive the tickets. Also, when I spoke with XXXX from Capital One at XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/23 ( her ID is XXXX ), she told me there is nothing they can do for me, but in certain situations they can make exceptions. When I asked what she meant by that, she said if an elderly person was scammed they can look into removing the charges. I was appalled. That is age discrimination. Because I am not an elderly person they will not consider removing these charges that they know I should not be responsible for? No matter what age a person is, if you make a purchase and do not receive the product, the credit card company should back the consumer up. In this particular case, XXXX XXXX was not at fault so they say this does not fall under fraud or a dispute so they will not help me. It is very concerning that such a large well known credit card company is being completely resistant in relieving me of this debt.

Consumer Complaint: Dear CFPB, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a discrepancy I have noticed in my credit report following a recent credit card application with Capital One Bank on XX/XX/2023. Upon applying for a credit card with Capital One, I was surprised to find that the subsequent rejection had a significant impact on my credit history, as indicated by the notification I received from XXXX stating that there is a high risk on my credit report. I carefully reviewed the terms and conditions provided by Capital One during the application process, and nowhere was it explicitly mentioned that the application itself would have an immediate and substantial impact on my credit history. I understand that credit inquiries may have an effect, but the magnitude of this impact was unexpected and seems disproportionate to the nature of the application.

Consumer Complaint: Capital One is in clear violation of the CARES ACT. As described in the CARES ACT, I made arrangements with CAPITAL One in XX/XX/XXXX, while my account was still current to make reduced monthly payments. I explained to them that I lost my job during XXXX and I had not been called back yet. They Agreed to accept $ XXXX and to waive late fees. According to the CARES ACT the Company is supposed to report the Consumer as Current as long as the Consume adheres to the agreement. I faithfully adhered to the agreement and I was still reported as NO Payment 30 days late monthly and that continues to this date XX/XX/XXXX. The CARES Act was signed into Law to protect consumers ' credit. Please see the attached copy of the CARES ACT as it relates to Businesses and Consumers. As a result of their violation of the CARES ACT my Credit Score has dropped at least XXXX points. Other creditors saw the drop in my scores and followed suit to either lower my credit limit on existing accounts or close my account altogether eventhough I was current. I reported this violation of the CARES ACT to the Credit Bureaus without any results, XXXX and XXXX. I Disputed credit report errors with the bureaus and the creditor and according to the CARES ACT, " Credit bureaus now have 45 days to correct errors, normally under the FCRA they had 30 days ''. They did not make any corrections. However, the Bureaus did state to me, if Capital One agrees, they will manually remove the erroneous " 30 Days Late '' from my Credit Report. The CARES ACT was a law. Why, should the Erroneous Reporting Only be removed if Capital One Agrees?
