Consumer Complaint: Capital One has essentially locked me out of my money. I keep my debit card locked to prevent fraud and they have a defect where if they renew your card while its locked, it remains locked until your new one arrives which is typically 7-10 business days. Capital One manager confirmed that this is a long standing known issue that higher ups have been ignoring. So I dont have access to my debit card. They said I could use XXXX to transfer between my XXXX and XXXX account. I attempt the XXXX and they block my account for suspicious activity because I havent used XXXX in over 30 days ( never. Ive never used XXXX ). XXXX claimed that XXXX is saying they blocked it because I recently changed my password, which I didnt. I try to do a transfer and they want to verify deposit amounts. Which takes 1-3 business days. There is most likely another known issue where it asks that youre verify accounts because an account already in the system has fresh micro deposits sent for verification today ( XXXX ). Wire transfers cost money and they wont refund until after its posted. I cant pull from XXXX XXXX or XXXX XXXXXXXX. XXXX says 3-5 days. Im starving cause I havent eaten today and want to go run errands and eat lunch. Been working since 7. I have my discover account but keep most of my money at XXXX. Im afraid to even spend anything cause I legit dont know when Ill get my money back. Ive already opened a different account ( which they wont let me transfer from because apparently XXXX is saying the personal info doesnt match ( it does ). Managers have been super condescending and hung up in my face. Managers say they are filing complaints and never ask questions about the issues. You have to request any type of follow up. The managers are incredibly nice nasty.

Consumer Complaint: Capital one the company with which I have been a customer for over 15 years sent me an offer to get their savor one credit card with an initial spending bonus offer clearly stated ( spend {$3000.00} in the first 90 days, get {$300.00} cash back ). I signed up and received the card, but they have now reneged on the offer, stating they counter offered before issuing card. Obviously they are not entitled to counter offer themselves nor should they be allowed to engage in bait and switch tactics. Respectfully, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I am giving authorization to this company to respond to this cfpb complaint. I have requested that this company cease the reporting of the account stated in the attached dispute letter due to federal violations. Pursuant to the IRS Publication 4681 any cancellation of debt is considered a certificate of indebtedness and its now income. Income can not be reported per the IRS publication. However, this company did NOT honor my request for removal. This violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act and both this company and the consumer reporting agencies are participating in this violation. Additionally, as a financial institution, they did not disclose to me my right to opt out of the disclosure of my nonpublic information or directions on how to exercise my right to opt out as dictated by law. I sent them a letter notifying them of my request to be opted out of my nonpublic information being furnished to consumer reporting agencies pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 6802 and 16 CFR 313.7 in which they have denied my right. Instead, they stated that they do not offer their customers the option to opt out which is a direct violation of federal law ( s ) as they are REQUIRED to give opt out disclosures. As a federally protected consumer I am now revoking any and all authorization that I, the consumer, may have given them written, non written, verbal, and nonverbal per 5 U.S. Code 552a and I am demanding that my nonpublic information cease to be furnished. If this matter does not get settled, I will pursue litigation for damages. 15 U.S. Code 1681s2 - Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies ( a ) Duty of furnishers of information to provide accurate information ( 1 ) Prohibition ( A ) Reporting information with actual knowledge of errors A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. ( B ) Reporting information after notice and confirmation of errors A person shall not furnish information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if ( i ) the person has been notified by the consumer, at the address specified by the person for such notices, that specific information is inaccurate; and ( ii ) the information is, in fact, inaccurate.

Consumer Complaint: I am CapitalOne credit card user and regularly make payments. Last month XX/XX/2023, I was trying to make a payment on my account, and the CapitalOne online payment system denied my payment stating " Today is a holiday and you can not post any payment '' so I was forced to schedule a payment on next day XX/XX/2023 which I did. But, later CapitalOne posted a {$25.00} late payment and {$34.00} interest charges on my account for XX/XX/2023. When I called customer service and requested to fix this error due to the issue with their system. They refused to withdraw the interest charges. I explained to them that your system did not let me make a payment on holiday but charged me interest on that same day, which is unfair to consumers, but the customer service supervisor XXXX refused to withdraw the charges. Additionally, when I asked to speak to her manager, she denied it and stated that she is the highest authority, there is no other manager above her, and above her is the CapitalOne management that doesn't talk to anyone.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I deposited at a Capital One ATM a check for {$20000.00} made out to me from the trust fund of my attorneys, drawn on XXXX XXXX XXXX. I was informed at the time that the funds would be available in 3 parts- XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. This didn't seem particularly unusual, and I made several financial commitments based on these dates. I was informed by email the same day that the reason for this delay was " we believe there's an increased risk that the deposit may return based on confidential information that indicates the check may not be paid. '' This claim of " confidential information '' seemed odd at the time, as the source of funds was a law firm trust fund, hence unlikely to be unpaid. All these dates, however, have now passed and although the funds now show in my balance, Capital One has failed to make any of the funds available to me. Calls to Capital One get nowhere, and I am now told that the funds will be available XX/XX/XXXX, with no additional reason given, and that " there is nothing they can do about it. '' I am severely inconvenienced and embarrassed by the fact that Capital One continues to hold onto my funds for 7 days without a specific reason, and has failed to make funds available according to the schedule they originally stated.
