Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX my payment that was scheduled in the amount of {$39.00} posted and was later returned due to insufficient funds. The lack of funds was due to the error by The Clearing House, which is the private operator of the Automated Clearing House payments system that works with the National Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve worked very slowly with banks to rectify the situation and pay those who were affected and whose direct deposits did not get deposited as expected. My bank just rectified the situation, on XXXX XXXX, XXXX and the paycheck that was missing was finally deposited into my account. Capital One is charging me a {$29.00} fee and no one can remove it. I called on XX/XX/XXXX at approximately XXXX. This recent inability to access my funds in my checking account was not my fault or my banks fault. It was an error on a larger national level and I feel I should not be penalized by overdraft fees, late fees or other penalties. It was the error at the national level with The Clearing House and the Federal Reserve.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: My husband tried to book a hotel reservation with the hotel but instead got a fraudulent company call XXXX XXXX. They charged us {$860.00} for a reservation and rooms immediately. We disputed the charge with Cabelas Capital One Credit Card. They removed it. XXXX XXXX sent Capital One documents they had made up. Capital one reapplied the charge. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, provided us with a statement on their letterhead saying they have no business relationship with XXXX XXXX and that the company is fraudulent. Captial One declined to remove the charge. XXXX in wrote another letter on letterhead saying that the reservation we were charged for never existed and that XXXX XXXX did not give them the money for the hotel room. We had to pay again when we stayed there. Capital One still would not take off the charge. Capital One then sent us a letter saying that our documents were not sufficient, and the dispute case was closed. I called again and threatened to contact the FTC and close all my accounts. Capital One then withdrew the charge and only then. I spend 12 hours writing letters, calling, and collecting documents to get a clearly fraudulent charge off of my bill. My complaint is with the Capital One Credit Card dispute process. When I tried to talk to Capital One, the representative only read me canned statement and really did not understand or respond to the fact of the fraudulent charges. When the business where the reservation was supposedly made documents that the charge was fraudulent, how can Capital One justify refusing to remove it??? The Capital One dispute department is not honoring the federal requirement to remove fraudulent charges. The service is provided by scripted comments and woefully inadequate. Capital One is violating FTC rules by making it time consuming and nearly impossible to get a large fraudulent charge removed.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I agreed to pay XXXX XXXX XXXX {$6900.00} for sewer line repair ( see email from XXXX XXXX and their estimate attached ). On XX/XX/2023 I paid XXXX XXXX {$1000.00} deposit from acc. Cap. One miles ending XXXX. ( statement enclosed ). On XX/XX/2023, over the phone, I authorized XXXX XXXX to debit my Cap. One Spark card ending XXXX for {$5900.00} ( also see email to XXXX XXXX XXXX enclosed ). But XXXX XXXX debited my Cap. One Spark XXXX card for {$7000.00} without my authorization. ( statement attached ). In total XXXX XXXX charged my credit cards for {$8000.00}, which exceeds the originally agreed payment of {$6900.00}. XXXX XXXX refused to refund the difference. I filed the dispute with Capital One. I explained that on XX/XX/2023 I did not authorize XXXX XXXX charged my credit card for {$7000.00} and that I did not authorize Capital One to pay {$7000.00} to XXXX XXXX ( see filled Cap One form enclosed ). Capital One requested invoice with the expected transaction amount, a statement including the last 4 digits of the card, an email from the merchant confirming the expected price. ( see Cap. One XX/XX/2023 letter, page 2, enclosed ). I uploaded all requested information to Cap. One web page ( see XXXX, enclosed ). Capital One stated that the uploaded documents " lacks all of the previously requested information '' ( see Cap. One XX/XX/2023 letter, enclosed ).
