Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX at approximately XXXX central time, I was notified by text message from capital one that there was possible fraudulent activity on my XXXX for {$750.00} from XXXX . I immediately came home from work and called capital one and advised them that i had not made this charge and had no idea who the establishment was. As we were talking, they advised me that the transaction had been submitted several times and it finally went through as pending. At the same time, they said other transactions were occurring on my card XXXX buying a pizza transaction. So, I immediately told them to cancel the card and they would issue me a new card with a new account number and conduct a fraud investigation. On the XXXX of XXXX, i saw that the charge was reversed. On XXXX XXXX at XXXXXXXX XXXX local I was notified by capital one that after researching my cause they found insufficient evidence of fraud. So i have spent 8 hours today XX/XX/2023 trying to resolve the issue. First talking to XXXX at capital one fraud department, and then being transferred to the supervisor XXXX at capital one fraud department, that notified me since the merchant had my address, name, email, and account information that they are considering this a legitimate charge. I asked them to send me the complete investigation which they told me will take 2-3 weeks. As a 100 % disabled combat retiree XXXX XXXX, {$750.00} is a lot of money to a retired disabled person. Please investigate this to the fullest, for I am notifying everyone in the military that our banking system and credit cards are not secure. And XXXX 's statement of XXXX fraud liability is a lie.

Consumer Complaint: I recently submitted a complaint about account XXXX I did not open this account you sent a response indicating that this account belongs to me I have never lived at the address listed on this account and the phone number XXXX is not and has never been mine so I did not contact you ever from that number I have filed police reports and identity theft reports your investigation into this matter is wrong I am a victim of identity theft someone has been using my social security number date of birth and identification. This has been going on for 2 years I have had several accounts opened at numerous banks all coming back to this adress in XXXX when the police investigated this adress the residence was vacant and condemned since XXXX someone was using the mailbox as a drop off point. Which is why it's showing showing this information linked to me on my credit reports because they are using my identity to be me. I will not pay a debt that doesn't belong to me and it's not removed from my credit my next state is to file a complaint the the state attorney generals office I've been dealing with this for 2 yrs I just want my life back you have all the supporting documentation you need from law enforcement I don't understand why you are insisting I opened this account.

On XX/XX/XXXX, someone stole the check ( issued on my name ) for my house fire damage reconstruction of {$140000.00} which was sent to my public adjustor 's address -- XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NY XXXX XXXX and was missing from that address. When I was notified by my mortgage company that the check was deposited, I went to my local Capital One bank and found out that there was a fraudulent bank account opened that deposited this check. After that, when I asked Capital One to return the money, Capital One told me that the money could only be sent back to the check issuer, which is, XXXX XXXX XXXX Capital One also requested that XXXX send them a hold harmless letter to receive the money back, which XXXX sent them. After that, on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX I received a call from XXXX XXXX ( Capital One Bank, Ext No. XXXX ) who told me that the money was sent back to the XXXX account on XX/XX/XXXX. But until now, my mortgage company did not receive the money back. After that, I repeatedly called Capital One Bank, and talked to the local bank, but they did not give me any reasonable answer as to where the money is. I am asking that CFPB urge Capital One Bank to return the sum of money to XXXX XXXX XXXX so I can repair the house from fire damage.
