Consumer Complaint: I have had an account with Bank of America since XXXX In that 25 years I have had one late payment by 5 days and 1 missed payment. When I discovered the missed payment I paid it immediately and it was less than 30 days past do. I got a letter from the company saying my credit score drop to XXXX and they were dropping my available credit from XXXX to XXXX. My credit score has not dropped. It is still XXXX. In trying to reason with Bank of America I said that 2 incidents of past due payment in 25 years was not reason to drop my available credit. They said they could not do anything about it.

Issue: Improper use of your report
Subissue: Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Consumer Complaint: I did not authorize these credit inquiries on my report. I would like to have them removed from my credit report or have the company provide the application bearing my name and signature and a copy of my ID proving that I was the person that initiated this inquiry. I did not apply for any credit with these companies. Please verify these inquiries and remove them from my credit report. I have stated this information to the creditors and they have not responded to my claim and this information continues to remain on my credit report. Under the FCRA, if the creditor can not validate the origin of the account and its accuracy and authenticity, they are required by law to remove it from being reported to the credit bureaus. This is damaging to my credit rating and causing me a lot of stress.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: In late 2021, I called Bank of America to request a reduced APR for my credit card. The person, male, who answered the phone advised me that if I opened a new credit card ( i.e. a second credit card ), if I did that, that I could take advantage of their 0 % interest transfer and be able to transfer the entire amount that was currently on my Allegiant Credit Card to the new Credit Card and have 0 % financing for 18 months. I agreed based on this information. The truth is that this was not an accurate statement. So, my credit was dinged by Bank of America for opening a new card. I complained several times to the company. Bank of America offered to close the account- which I understood would ding my credit again, and they agreed that it would happen if they closed the account. But they never provided anything other than we are sorry and will talk to the employee who did this and said these things. This still infuriates me as I relied to my detriment on BOA 's representation that I would be able to have 0 % interest on my balance for 18 months. At no time has this happened. This is flat out fraud, and I advised them of this. I even called the fraud line for BOA and the only recourse they had was to close the account, which, again, would hurt my credit score. It did not occur to me until today that I could file a complaint with Consumer Protection. I believe this is standard practice for BOA to get as many credit cards out to people as possible. I would like BOA to have consequences for their agent's/employees behavior.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX, I received an email saying I was opening a Bank of America Account, but I did NOT open the account. I called and was told that someone was trying to open an account in my name. The account was stopped and I was told that they would prevent someone from using my information to open an account. On XX/XX/XXXX, of XXXX, I was informed that an account was OPENED and I did NOT open the account. I called Bank of America again, and they said that they stopped the account from being used, and that my information could NOT be used to open an account with Bank of America. Again, today XX/XX/XXXX, I have received another messaging indicating that I have successfully OPENED a bank account with Bank of America. I have called, and will be calling again tomorrow, as they have closed operating hours right after the account was opened. I have NO idea who I need to contact, but apparently Bank of America does not have good identity proofing, and clearly are allowing people to open accounts after already assuring me that they had preventions in place to STOP it from happening. I would like BOA to improve their fraud handling so that when they say they are preventing any account from being opened with my personal details that they in FACT actually STOP it from happening. I do NOT bank with them, and will NEVER bank with them, as they clearly are not protecting my information, even after XXXX calls to prevent this from happening again.

I told them to cancel all my cards with their fraudulent bank. the chapter was closed. Now I am getting bills from BOA with a late fees and accrued interest charges. The account was closed with a " XXXX '' balance. They took away my {$1500.00} ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Dollars ) Cash Back Bonus. CHEAT, FRAUDS. I just want to inform that this is the type of fraudulent practice BOA is running ( SCAM ). They have XXXX ( LOBBYIST ) Who are supported by Senators and Congressmen. We consumers have to suffer. WHAT A SHAME. I REFUSE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT THEY ARE DEMANDING SINCE IT IS NO FAULT OF MINE AND THEY CLEARED ME OUT. Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: I contacted Bank of America several times after my account was closed within 2 months of opening with no notice. The account was closed during the hold period for a recently deposited check. That money was claimed by Bank of America and has not been returned to me. When I asked when I should expect the check for the remaining balance in the account before it was closed, I was told 7-10 business days. When I responded that it had been well over that time frame and I still hadnt received any checks, I was told there was nothing I could do about it.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: Bank of America held XXXX of my money saying I made a duplicate check deposit on mobile banking. They closed my account and reported me to chex systems all before talking to me and asking me what could have happened. I proved that it was not a duplicate check deposit, but they continued with their decision to close my account and never sent me the money that I deposited. They told me to wait 21 days, and they would issue me a check. I waited and suffered behind a payday ... and then I got a letter in the mail saying that they were holding the monies until they could be verified. However, the monies was verified the entire time by the fact it was sitting in the bank accounting. I never got that money. and the account is closed and I can not get another account due to chex systems. Also, they made me verify myself over six times by driving up to XXXX, Oregon and showing my I.D . and social security card. This expense was XXXX dollars every trip counting food, gas, and lodging and time off work. In addition to this final insult, durring the lifetime of the account their were multiple time my account was frozen without explanation. Each time my account was frozen I was told the only wasy to clear it was to drive to the nearest financial center and verify myself. This was a long trip. The closest Bank of America to my hometown is over 400 miles. I had to take time off work, borrow money for the trip, be late with bills and rent, etc. I had to find the money to get up to XXXX with my money frozen and I was unable to pull it out to make that trip. I had to borrow the money so when my account was unfrozen I had to pay back the debts putting me in a XXXX balance again. This happened six times.
