Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: On Tuesday, XX/XX/2023, I attempted to purchase a train pass with the account I had with Bank of America. The transaction was declined on two separate occasions. I called the bank and was informed that my account had been closed with no explanation. They did not give me a reason as to why the account was closed. I had funds in the account and it was not in the negative. I have been calling Bank of America since Tuesday, XX/XX/2023 and I keep getting the run around. I keep getting told that I have to wait for a response from them on whether or not they can release my funds to a Bank of America branch which can take XXXX days. I was also told that the account will not be completely closed until XX/XX/2023. There is no reason why someone has to wait for a bank to release YOUR funds. This is definitely unethical and I would advise no one to do business with Bank of America. I have had nothing but problems with them.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Cashing a check
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I mailed a check for {$7000.00} to a finance company for my companies general liability insurance policy coverage. This check was stolen in the mail and cashed by someone who signed the check in the name of " XXXX XXXX '' this was not anything to do with the name of the finance company that the check was made out to. I noticed this on XX/XX/XXXX and contacted my bank XXXX XXXX Upon not hearing back from XXXX I went to my branch on XX/XX/XXXX to be told that the Declaration of Unauthorized Endorsement or Altered Item i had submitted on XX/XX/XXXX was not signed correctly by me. ( this i find hard to believe tbh ). So on XX/XX/XXXX I filled out another Declaration of Unauthorized Endorsement or Altered Item form. On XX/XX/XXXX I reached out to XXXX as i had heard nothing. Now I am told that the check was cashed by Bank of America and they are refusing to acknowledge their error when contacted by XXXX. Either way I am out a large sum of money and need your help. Many Thanks,

Consumer Complaint: SIM card swap fraud stole XXXX from my Bank of America account using XXXX. Been corresponding non stop with Bank of America who initially denied the transaction as fraud due tot he fact that we use XXXX and that XXXX uses a phone confirmation to approve the transaction. After multiple calls and visits to the XXXX store that I purchased my new phone from ( who I believe is responsible for stealing the money bc the guy told me there was no SIM card in my old phone and like a buffoon, bc I knew there was, I just let him keep it ) found out during the time the money was transferred, there was a sim swap from my new phone to my old phone. Long story longer, I resubmitted the fraud claim with Bank of America as they instructed by faxing over the sim swap fraud info from XXXX and whatever else they asked for. They received the info and said We should have a response between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I did call them multiple times within this time period to try to get updates, at which time they told me there was no way to connect with the part of the company that manages these issues as there are no phone numbers to reach them. A couple times the customer service person was able to connect with this part of the company and confirm they in fact has my info and were working on it ( I guess ). XXXX has come and gone and still nothing. Ive called several times since XX/XX/XXXX and was told various things ; weve done our part and are Now waiting for the recipients bank ( XXXX XXXX ) to investigate it and try To get your money back and also, we have no way of finding out where in the investigation they are. They will get back to you once its settled. So this is multi layered and very upsetting. The local police dept cant do anything bc they just dont have the capacity to investigate these things ( although I did file a police report ). The police dept in the town that the XXXX store is in says to wait until my money is returned before I file a report so not to impede upon us getting our money back. The XXXX guy who stole from me ( I have more details about how obvious this is ) and bank Of America giving me the run around about getting me my money back. I need help. Its super frustrating and upsetting that I was stolen from ( and a healthy amount of money at that ) and i feel helpless and like I am the person that did something wrong. Its so upsetting

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America closed my two credit cards with no notice and for no reason in XX/XX/2023. When I called the bank, I was told it was a business decision and they could not give me more information. One of the credit cards was an XXXX XXXX XXXX card that I had been approved for in XX/XX/2023 and for which I paid a {$500.00} annual fee. I called Bank of America several times and asked for the annual fee to be prorated and reimbursed and for the accrued points ( XXXX valued at {$1100.00} ) to be applied to the balance on my card. They denied both requests. I had applied and paid for the card because of its benefits for a trip I was taking in XXXX XXXX. I lost all of the benefits ( including luggage fees, travel insurance, airline fees, etc. ) as I had already booked the flights and other parts of the trip on the card and Bank of America would not let me use any of the benefits or protections once they closed the account. I am extremely frustrated that I lost out in thousands of dollars, was given no notice or explanation, and have no recourse to resolve this situation. I was a XXXX XXXX client for 23 years with the bank. There were no late or outstanding payments, my accounts were in good standing, and my credit score is XXXX.

You should check to see if there are any unknown withdrawals. So, I logged into my account while he was looking at my computer. But I told him that I did not see any unknown withdrawals at that moment. He said not yet but in processing. Unforturnately after his visiting my computer, I noticed XXXX international transfers from my account to an account called " XXXX XXXX '', {$1100.00} and {$340.00}. It was XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I called Bank of America immediately. But the office was closed. I waited next day on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, I went to the branch of Bank of America and asked them to stop the transactions. But the representative said Bank of America does not have a way to stop this type of scams. They just let the transaction go through and charged me two international wire transfer fees {$10.00} and {$34.00}. My total loss is around {$1500.00}.
