Consumer Complaint: Profiteering by Bank of America On XX/XX/XXXX, my XXXX was a college student at XXXX University in XXXX Virginia. I chose Bank of America to do an away from home auxiliary account in order that he could accomplish his banking needs. ( Like many college students, my XXXX was not finance savvy. ) My XXXX and XXXX were joint on connected checking and savings accounts : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX. Checking account : XXXX. Savings account : XXXX In order to meet the criteria for no fees to be assessed, I was a XXXX XXXX and had a XXXX XXXX come into the checking account, proceeded by a transfer. I have the initial XX/XX/XXXX statement stating an account to account transfer would take place every month. The document stated, XXXX assisted transfer from XXXX XXXX. After my XXXX matriculated from XXXX University and left XXXX, the auxiliary checking account was no longer a necessity. He had an established primary account with a XXXX XXXX union affording many great benefits. My son, however, left the Bank of America accounts open, using the debit card, on occasion. I never dreamed XXXX XXXX XXXX of BOA profiteering could result. # XXXX On yesterday, XX/XX/XXXX, I learned that for years the checking account was being charged $ XXXX monthly. My XXXX, not banking XXXX was unaware of the huge profiteering by Bank of America. The account was paperless. I no longer paid close attention believing that things were fine. I retired in XXXX and my federal allotment stopped. This must be when the {$12.00} monthly started. It is unfortunate that this is when banks profit huge from XXXX A. I would like a full accounting of DATE when the {$12.00} monthly fee started. B. Provide TOTAL AMOUNT OF FEES paid up to checking closure : Friday, XX/XX/XXXX. ( $ $ $ PAID ) MAKE XXXX WHOLE : 100 % refund of {$5.00} monthly fees due to unfair profiteering and unethical business practice. Funds to be deposited into XXXX account XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Im writing to you about a fraud situation that occurred, in which my money was stolen from me. I was in the midst of looking for an apartment. I came across a man on XXXX who posed as a property manager. He reached out to me, and we began the process of subletting an apartment. He told me to XXXX him $ $ to an email address, which I did. I have sent money to a landlord before, so this wasnt out of the ordinary. He asked for several payments, adding up to {$1100.00}. He got the payments, wrote up a contract, and I signed it. My lawyer even looked over the contract, and it came up as a lease. The next day, when I went to do an address change, I realized that the apartment wasnt valid. I went straight away to our conversation, and realized that he blocked me. I immediately called the bank, and told them what had happened. They transferred me to XXXX fraud of Bank of America, and told me that they were going to open up a claim. They stated that I would be getting my Money back within 45 days. I called several days to get updates on the case. They said several times on recorded recordings that I would get my money back. Fast forward to XX/XX/2023, the fraud team was on the last step in the process. They told me that they found who took my money, and which bank it went to. They also told me that they sent a deny letter in the mail, stating that I wouldnt be getting my money back. If there are recordings of Bank of America telling me that I will get my money back, several times, then I should get my money back. They sent me information via email about the fraudulent property manager to file a police report because they couldnt take the case any further. The fake property manager took 3 payments : - XX/XX/2023 : {$450.00}, {$450.00}, {$200.00} The deny letter was mailed to my house on XX/XX/2023. Claim Number XXXX I just want to know why there is a contradiction when the Bank of America stated that I would be getting my money back to turn around, and say that I wouldnt get it back. They waited a whole 45 days, wasted my time, and had me wait 45 days to get to the end result. By law, shouldnt I be legally binded to have something recorded by your staff to get my money back. The bank cant take any extra steps, but is affiliated with XXXX who is under Bank of America. Im pleading to you as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and to do all that you can do to ensure that I am able to get my money back. Policies and laws should be made to protect the individual who has the bank account. This goes beyond me. This is for future consumers. This situation should not happen to the next person. I have been humiliated, and have lost my hard-earned money. This is horrible. This fraud shouldnt be able to get away with this, especially since they know who and where he is. Further steps should be taken to charge this criminal. I intended to use this money for other purposes. Again, I will do whatever it takes to get my money back. I would like my money back. I will also be following up with the President of Bank of America, as well. Warm Regards, XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: My personal financial information was provided to a third party without my consent. In fact it was provided to multiple parties which violated my rights. I am complaining because my banking institutions shared information that was then told to me by someone that has no business having information regarding my accounts balances. It was shared repetitively to multiple people and entities including but not limited to investigative agencies without legal accessibility requirement met It was also disclosed in a room full of additional ears. So not only was my information obtained it was broadcasted to multiple others without regard for my rights

Consumer Complaint: Early in XX/XX/XXXX, I accidentally found out that our BoA credit card balance had been charged twice ( back-to-back days ) to our BoA checking account. We called a few times to have the error fixed and, eventually, one of the two balance charges was correctly returned to our checking account. In XX/XX/XXXX, however, the problem recurred ( XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX : USD XXXX ). We called several times and, eventually, on XX/XX/XXXX one of the two balance charges was both refunded to our checking account and yet recharged to our credit card new balance as " returned unpaid '' ( as well as interests and fees ), now nonsensically due on XX/XX/XXXX ). We called again, were told that it would be fixed, but never was. Even worse, the same problem recurred in XX/XX/XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX : USD XXXX ). Once again, we called several times, the balance was returned and yet re-recharged to the new balance of our credit card ( due in XX/XX/XXXX, we believe ). At that point, we looked back ward till the beginning of XXXX and found that, unbeknownst to us, our credit card had been charged twice to our checking account even in XX/XX/XXXX, but on the phone we were told that, after 12 months, that charge was no longer refundable. We even went to our local BoA branch, but were told they have no access to our credit card account and could not help us. This whole 18-month long ordeal is a scandal. BoA, from time to time, charges our checking account twice the balance of our BoA credit card.

Issue: Other transaction problem
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, there was a fraudulent XXXX XXXX XXXX Bank of AmericaXXXX to an unknown individual at XXXX PM for the amount of {$1800.00}. Six days later another transaction happened again the exact same way on XX/XX/XXXX this time the emergency wire transfer was for {$990.00}. I contacted XXXX, XXXX had me file a fraud complaint with their department so they could further investigate to confirm what happened. I was instructed to file a claim with Bank of America, because Bank of America was the entity who released the funds. I contacted Bank of America XXXX claims department to file my claims. I filed my claims in XXXX when I first recognized the transaction. The first claim number for the {$1800.00} transaction ended in XXXX. The second claim number for {$990.00} ended in XXXX. Two days later I received a letter from Bank of America. " Multiple factors, including their documents, information from the merchant and my own spending habits '' prove that I made these transaction, but if I didn't someone I know did. They denied my claim. I requested a reconsideration, this time I provided the police report where someone had broke into my car and stole my wallet, including my identification. The four receipts from the XXXX where I had to get replacement identification 4x in the last 2 years at my address.. I gave them the complaint plus the certification of identity with the United States Post office. I provided a correspondence between myself and a neutral third party ( the lady I was trying to get to hire me ) where I ask for her to provide proof of where I was on the XXXX and the XXXX of XXXX. She emailed me a timestamp WITH MY PICTURE of when I came in, when I went on a break, my return and when I left the building for both XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I gave the the written judgment from the Honorable Judge XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX of XXXX. In this 85 page judgement, his Honor states that it was clear that someone had frequently used my identification and social security number to receive funds in my name. I have provided my own written statement letting the bank know it wasn't me. And that there has never been a second card holder on any account I have ever had including my Bank of America EDD account. The claim ending in XXXX for {$990.00} was approved this past XXXX. One year later. But the claim ending in {$1800.00} continues to be denied. I have requested a provisional credit be placed on my account while they look into my {$1800.00} claim. I was told that provisional credits can not be applied when a claim is in reconsideration. I requested copies of these " Multiple factors, including their documents, information from the merchant and my own spending habits '' that prove I made this transaction or that someone I know made this transaction. Bank of America sent me one piece of paper with a XXXX Stamp on it and the times the two transactions took place. None of the representatives I have spoke with can confirm if the time was recorded in XXXX XXXX XXXX or XXXX time. After a while, Bank of America wasn't even looking at my claim, they sent a letter stating that the card in question was mailed to an address they have on file for me and that my credentials were used. So that proved it was me. But a card was mailed to that same address and my credentials were used and the bank approved the claim ending in XXXX for {$990.00}. I honestly believe that someone or more than one person working at BofA has been tampering with my account. When I tell the customer protection department about my concerns I was told, " Oh, we only investigate customers. We wouldn't investigate ourselves. '' I decided to go a different route. On XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX, I requested the documentation for the claim ending in XXXX for {$990.00}. ( the claim that was approved ). I was told that there is no documentation. That this particular documentation doesn't exist. The BofA person couldn't provide me a better answer that this. And since that call I have to go through the customer protection department every time I call about this claim. There was credited to my account on XX/XX/XXXX for a claim that was opened in XXXX, had been denied and was in reconsideration. Only for the credit to be reversed the moment I went to the ATM to withdraw the funds. But didn't Bank of America say that there was no provisional credit for claims in reconsideration?
