Issue: Problem with a purchase or transfer

Subissue: Card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase or transfer

Consumer Complaint: I am receiving state XXXX payments from California onto a Bank of America XXXX XXXX. I insisted a transfer to my Bank of America checking account on XX/XX/XXXX for {$3200.00}. The money instantly showed transferred from the debit card and as of today XX/XX/XXXX, the funds are still not in my Bank of America checking account. Bank of America to Bank of America transfers should be instant, yet my funds are nowhere to be found. I spoke with a representative yesterday for XXXX minutes who was not able to resolve the issue. I am on the phone today and again getting nowhere, they are saying it is a government issued card and they dont know why the funds arent appearing, so they transferred me to another line and I received a message that they are unable to complete my call and hung up on me. I dont have access to my money and am forced to pay interest and late charges to other bills because I can not access my funds a full 6 days later. Apparent the back is earning interest on my money for 6 days while I can not get to my funds. A supervisor today said they dont know what happened and I would need to be transferred to the claims department to try and get my funds returned. This is outrageous that Bank of America has the responsibility to handle these funds and they are not able to look and see what happened. I have spoken with 6 people so far and the last supervisor was completely condescending and said he doesnt know where the funds are and that possibly I entered an incorrect routing and account number, yet I have not updated my routing and account number since I started receiving these funds and every previous time I have transferred money. Now he needs me to file a claim with the bank for my missing funds. Its all internal Bank of America, I have spent two hours chasing this down when someone at the bank should have a system to see where the {$3200.00} went back on the XXXX. Now they are telling me I have to file a claim for missing funds. This is beyond irresponsible that they can not find my money and are delaying further while they file a dispute claim they will have to research the claim and it will take up to 45 days to get an answer. This is my MONEY, this is outrageous.

Consumer Complaint: A previous complaint I submitted they sent notice saying it was paid back by retailor or the bank, they don't know which but they say it's resolved. It is not resolved, I want an itemized accounting of my account showing what comes out and what went in to match dollar amounts, not just " we take it off your statement when it's credited back '' prove to me the monies were put back in my account. Pretty scandalous you remove the transaction from my statement and claim it was settled. Show me

Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: I sent a dispute letter by certified mail on XX/XX/2023 to Bank of America to dispute the charge off they put on my credit report. On XX/XX/2023, I received a response letter from Bank of America to the dispute I had sent. First of all they sent their response is written in XXXX and they did not send an English version of their response even though my dispute letter is in English so I had to have the letter translated. In this letter they do not send competent evidence or records of validation that is bearing my signature, they only sent one page letter with a recently written dollar amount in the letter and the date the account was supposedly open without any official records or competent evidence bearing my signature for that debt. The dispute letter I sent specifically requested this, " I am requesting validation, made pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, along with the corresponding local state laws. Please note that I am requesting " validation '' ; that is competent evidence bearing my signature, showing that I have ( or ever had ) some contractual obligation to pay you. '' Bank of America did not provide this in their response letter, they did not properly verify the debt. Please also be aware that any negative mark found on my credit reports ( including XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ) from your company or any company that you represent, for a debt that I don't owe, is a violation of the FCRA & FDCPA ; therefore if you can not validate the debt, you must request that all credit reporting agencies delete the entry. I attached the dispute and response letters to this complaint

Issue: Other features, terms, or problems

Subissue: Privacy issues

Consumer Complaint: A few weeks ago, I submitted a request to increase the credit limit associated with my corporate business account. Today, on XX/XX/2023, I contacted customer service to inquire about the status of the request. I was informed that a representative from the bank tried to contact me on XX/XX/2023. Unfortunately, I missed that call as I do not answer calls from unknown numbers. As a business owner, I often have a busy schedule and can not always be available at a moment 's notice. Additionally, I hold the status of a platinum with honors reward client, and I believe that should have warranted special attention and consideration. It is my belief that, under these circumstances, leaving a voicemail should have been a standard practice. I am deeply concerned that Bank of America 's handling of this matter may constitute a violation of privacy and data protection regulations that are put in place to protect customers ' personal information. The fact that I was not notified by any correspondence regarding the attempted contact and that the representative did not leave a voicemail or provide any other contact details further exacerbates my concerns. I would like to request that the bank conducts a review and investigation of their credit department to ensure compliance with privacy and data protection standards. Additionally, I believe the representative involved with the call on XX/XX/2023 should receive coaching to improve their communication practices. As a loyal and valued customer, I trust that Bank of America will address these issues promptly and take the necessary steps to safeguard consumers ' privacy and data. I hope that my complaint will be taken seriously, and appropriate actions will be taken to rectify the situation.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a 0 % interest for 18 month Cash Reward Credit Card from Bank of America ( BoA ) via online through a pre-approved mail offer. Upon the initial application, the amount requested to transfer was {$10000.00}. I received an email to confirm email contact on XXXX. On XXXX an email stating the new card was on the way. A letter dated XXXX ( date of online application ) was received stating approval and the credit limit of {$10000.00} and information about a transfer being modified to accommodate the limit, may be changed or cancelled. On or about XXXX the card and terms and conditions were received in which I proceeded to set up a payment account and verify if a transfer was complete. Unable to confirm online, I completed a second transaction for a lesser amount ( {$5700.00} ) as the current balance reflected {$0.00} with no pending transactions. I received a confirmation email for this transfer request. I received fraudulent account notification, dated XXXX, and contacted the 800 number listed on the website on XXXX. I received a call back and spoke with XXXX. She was able to view both transactions and transferred me to XXXX, an Account Specialist. XXXX advised he sees the first request of {$9500.00}, there is a 14 day waiting period, and the transaction is set to be processed electronically on XXXX. A confirmation email for a balance transaction in the amount of {$5700.00} was received. Upon checking my account on XXXX, the alert history reflected the second request was unable to be processed. I called and spoke with XXXX and was advised both transactions were cancelled by BoA as I was not previously. It was stated that contact was made on XXXX to avoid this very situation, however, I did understand and complied. Upon verification of PII, balance transfers should be successful, and it was recommended to process with an agent. The request was submitted via online in the amount of {$9700.00} with an email confirmation. On XXXX, the website reflected unable to process with another confirmation email. Contact was made on XXXX with XXXX, who again verified PII, and spoke with two fraud representatives. It was stated the block was removed and the transfer was performed with the representative on the phone with a confirmation email. On XXXX, the website once again reflected unable to process. XXXX, fraud rep advised I would need to go into a branch with two forms of identification. XXXX XXXX, a member service representative at the BoA XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Florida XXXX, reviewed my passport, drivers license, and BoA issued card. In addition, contacted the fraud department who again wanted to speak with me. XXXX advised the account was flagged fraudulent due to the amounts of the transactions. n addition, I was advised text message alerts to verify the transactions may resolve the issue. I stated I have no issue receiving other BoA text messages and have not received any text or call concerning transactions. I then spoke with XXXX who advised a fraud agent stated the application was blocked for fraud. I advised that is contradictory to the letter I received stating my account has suspicious activity and was suspended two days after the application process. In addition, I advised XXXX the phone number was correct on my account and that I have received multiple text messages from BoA, none which were related to fraud charges. I also advised that was the fifth excuse that was provided, the third one that day, and all reasons/excuses for the blocks/fraud have been different. I have lost countless hours trying to resolve this issue via phone as well as in person. I have also lost 20 of the 60 days of the balance transfer balance promotional offer. I have been provided misleading and inaccurate information by BoA. I have not received a true answer to why my account was automatically blocked with fraud as early as XXXX and subsequently blocked automatically after verifying the PII twice with representatives. I was not informed I needed to go to a branch with two forms of identification to verify my identity until XXXX. Also, my balance transfers are still not complete and my credit has been impacted due to the hard inquiry performed by BoA and I am unable to use the card as it is continually automatically blocked for fraud. have included a more detailed timeline of events. Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America reported to the credit bureaus that I did not make a car payment and that my balance went up as a result. This damaged my credit score. This was not true. Bank of america did a 30 day investigation and came back that because my payment history was good that they must have reported correctly without looking at the reporting. I filed disputes with all 3 credit bureaus and bank of america responded to them that their reporting was correct. It was not correct. This resulted in the bureaus not fixing the credit issue. Bank of america then corrected the credit report but did not respond or contact the credit bureaus to let them know that their original response was not correct and that they have made corrections. My credit is still damage and Bank of america still denies responsibility despite reporting incorrectly.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: My Bank of America XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX account was closed in error because of alleged " fraud '' on my accounnt in XXXX. At this time, I was not aware there was actually a positive balance in my account of approximately {$1900.00}. I called to check on this account after reading about Bank of America being fined XXXX for not dispersing account holders funds from the pandemic because of alleged " fraud ''. I was advised that there was a balance in my account of {$1800.00} which the bank would send the balance in a check to my address. It has now been about a month and I still have not received the check for the balance owed to me from my account that was closed in error because of alleged " fraud ''. I have had to go into a Bank of America banking XXXX 5 different times to prove my identity and have easily spent in excess of XXXX hours checking in as to where my check was, where it was sent, etc. Each time I have spoken to the bank, their accounting of the process has been different and increasingly vauge. They couldn't advise if the check was sent out via XXXX or the USPS. My partner and I are currently homeless and this money is certainly a difference maker in our lives. Allowing us to lease a car to drive for XXXX as well as be able to lease a room or our own apartment. As of today, we were asked to wait another 3-5 business days so the bank could figure out where the check was and if there is a tracking number with it- this is after we were advised that the check was sent to us on XX/XX/XXXX. Once again, out of the multuiple calls that we have made to the bank, not one of the calls has has had consistent or accurate information. At this point, we feel as if Bank of America is making their story up as they go along and wonder if and when we will receive the money they have fraudulently held onto for over XXXX years now.

Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: it started about XXXX XXXXXXXX when I was looking for internships/part-time jobs during school on indeed, I was mostly looking for remote based off of my college schedule. most of them I saw were customer service representatives when job seemed to match me based off my qualifications I put. The name was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I applied to it and others. They got back to me, saying that they love my rsum, and then they would like to interview me through a five minute timed assessment. I did the assessment and didnt think much of it. A few days later they told me I got the job paying XXXX an hour with benefits. They even told me theyll send me a {$2900.00} check and I can keep the XXXX and the rest will be sent to i warehouse to buy my remote equipment. once the check was delivered by mail, a man named XXXX XXXX texted me to confirm and told me to mobile deposit the check to make it faster I did so and the guy called and text me through the process. when I deposited it, I said Ill be on hold to verify I didnt told the guy and he ok and to update him. I did so and the check was taken back and I told him that the check did not deposit. he then told me XXXX contact payroll to send a new one then payroll sent a new one through email this time he told me to print it and use the back of the other check to deposit it mobile into use the front of the new ones. this time the check was in a smaller amount with XXXX once it was deposited only two went through. He told me to send the two that went through to two people of a warehouse company {$1000.00} to XXXX XXXX and XXXX to XXXX on XXXX XXXX both of those payments then were denied to cash app and then he told me to send it through XXXX instead, however, when the payments are rejected through XXXX XXXX, the XXXX XXXX person, seemingly got upset with me and said I caused this and I thought nothing of his upsetness, and just assumed it was unprofessionalism and continue to do what he said. I just assumed it was because it may cause a delay in me starting the job thats why he was upset. once I sent them through XXXX, they went through. after I told him they went through he called me and said theres been a miscalculations in the payment and the warehouse actually needs XXXX more times 2 to send my equipment for the warehouse job. I think it a little bit suspicious, and then my mother calls me because shes on my account as well and tells me to be careful with the amount of checks that im depositing that might not go through and the bank might close my account. after the {$950.00} checks XXXX were deposited well. Also waiting on the other XXXX that did not deposit. I told him the bank again told me it will take a while to verify and he said to keep him updated. my mom then tells me again that this seems really suspicious, and that I should quit. I started to agree with her and then texted XXXX XXXX, that I am quitting and refused employability while also making up a lie why I am quitting. I didnt know what was going to happen to the checks but I knew if they were deposited I was going to email payroll to send it back or send it to the warehouse people. The days when on normal and I didnt get any other messages from the one XXXX wheeler person. Monday came around and me and my siblings wanted to order XXXX. My mom was supposed to send me money through XXXX to do so. Usually I get an alert when she does but this time I didnt so I tried to log into my bank account and it said it was locked, me confused, I called my bank they said my account is closed due to the XXXX checks and I could never be able to open a new one with bank of america and after XXXX hours it will be finalized. I didnt try to reach out to this XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX company but waited till my parents came home and they said to take it to the police. The next day once I got to the police they said that this was out of their jurisdiction and to contact the FBI. I did block the number of XXXX XXXX, but held on all the documents related to the incident.
