Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2023 I deposited a check to Bank of America that they flagged me for possesion of a counterfeit check. It all started when I put my apartment subleasing up on XXXX. I got in contact with an out-of-state student that claimed they were relocating to be a student in my college town of XXXX, FL from XXXX, TX. They agreed to take over my lease and I even asked them for proof of id and if the check was legit before they had their supervsior send me an e-check for the student 's last paycheck ( {$2900.00} ) and I tried to mobile-deposit it the same day but a few days later the Fraud Team contacted me for details and I told them this situation and they said they would suspend my bank activity till the XXXX and then I should regain my account access but then I re-checked on the XXXX and saw my account was locked and when I contacted Bank of America they just said I was in possession of a fake check so they completely closed down my entire account even including the savings account that I shared with my parents who are long-time Bank of America customers .

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: My loan with Bank of American was in forbearance due to Covid. I didn't pay 4 months due to my loss of income during covid. I resumed paying the monthly dues after 4 mos but the 4 months behind I wasn't able to pay. BofA charged me fees ( miscellaneous ) for a total of {$560.00}. When I called them what those charges are for they told me it's for " they pay somebody every month to come & pass by the house to check if I'm living in the house ''. This was just so ridiculous. I can't believe. I asked their Customer Service if they do that to everybody who are in forbearance, she said " yes ''. My heloc is XXXX XXXXXXXX. The value of the property is {$1.00} XXXX. I live in XXXX XXXX XXXX. After forbearance period in XXXX I called them & asked if they can do something for me ( as what their website says ) for the forbearance amount like put back at the end of the loan or loan modification. They told me my loan was not set up that way!!! I didn't have any choice but to pay off the forbearance amount. Is it ethical to charge their customer this kind of fees during hardship? Thank you

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: I have been asking BofA to increase the credit limit on my credit card for many months but they always blatantly deny. In their denial letter, they give reasons which are not applicable to my scenario. When asked, they dont give conclusive explanation. They have been harassing and jeopardising my purchasing power since a long time, all despite the card being my oldest credit card. The credit limit is so less I cant even buy a new XXXX with it. And although I have a good credit score and have been using the card responsibly, they wont increase the credit limit. The worst part is that despite acknowledging the fact that I have higher credit limits on other credit cards, BofA would still not give me a higher credit limit.
