Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Banking errors
Consumer Complaint: In 2015 I was involved in a scam where I was given fraudulent checks and asked to deposit them and subsequently send the funds to someone via XXXX XXXX. This situation was extremely disheartening, I filed a police report and I lost a significant amount of money in the tune of over {$5000.00}. The issue regarding this situation as that I walked into the bank and deposited the check. The teller took the check for an extended period of time and proceeded to deposit it although it was fraudulent. There were funds in my checking account temporarily and then I was scammed out of the entire amount of the check. I spoke with several representatives over the phone and I explained the entirety of the situation and I was told over the phone by a representative verbatim that they would give me my money back from the transaction and that promise was inevitably not honored.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: I recently opened a credit card account with Bank of America. When I downloaded and then went into the app to set up my payments, it showed another account in the payment history. It shows payments of a personal card ending in XXXX with a $ 150 monthly payment set up and also cancelled for the XXXX of every month. It makes no sense! When I spoke with a service consultant they needed the full cc number of this ( unknown ) account before they could " see what I'm seeing. '' How can I do that when I don't even know why there's a card with payment history on there? I recently saw where they were being fined for setting up accounts without consumer knowledge and I believe this has happened. When I look at my credit report there are two BOFA accounts opened and closed within the last five+ years that I honestly can not recall. And now on my new card app, it shows an account with {$150.00} payments set up and cancelled on the XXXX of every month for that card ending in XXXX for which I have no knowledge whatsoever. There's only one person in the entire state of Ohio with my name so it shouldn't be that hard to track this down. I need answers please.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, my client, XXXX XXXX, utilized the XXXX payment platform to transfer {$77.00} from his Bank of America account to my XXXX XXXX account as payment for services rendered. The provided information for the transaction was accurate. Although I have successfully received both before and after XXXX payments, I have yet to receive this specific payment. While the funds were deducted from my client 's account, they were not credited to mine. I have attached two screenshots containing my XXXX information and transaction details, including the XXXX Transaction number, which should facilitate tracing the transaction. I have contacted my XXXX XXXX regarding this matter, but they reported no transaction history or pending activity. Additionally, I contacted the Bank of America XXXX support line, but they were unhelpful and advised me to contact my bank, which I had already done. It is crucial that this matter is resolved as all previous XXXX transactions have been instantaneous. Failure to address this issue could lead to the perception that either Bank of America or XXXX has engaged in fraudulent activity. XXXX Confirmation # XXXX ;

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX i was scammed by rapper XXXX XXXX for a promotional post on his XXXX page. I had contacted him on XXXX in regards to a promotional post and we agreed on the price which was XXXX. I wired him the money but it wasnt going through for some reason. He asks for my number so we can get with the bank on the call and after the call the bank says that the money will be sent back to my account because he has reached a limit. After the money came back to my account we agreed to use XXXX instead. I tried sending him the XXXX through my account but it wasnt letting me because it would exceed my XXXX limit so i send him XXXX. I sent XXXX to my friend to send it to him which he did. After the XXXX was sent XXXX ( the artist ) confirms that he got the payment. Than days go by he starts responding very slow after i have to double and triple text him. He said he was going to do the post after the album drops even though money was send a couple days before. I waited for the post and still nothing. I called him multiple times and texted him multiple times and nothing. It has been over a month now and i have been very patient waiting to see if he would respond but he has not at all. This is the first client that I have to deal with this.

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America offers autopay which allows customers to have payment automatically deducted from their account. BOA forces customers to only pay the min amount due and when you try to pay extra it disturbs the auto pay and then they charge late fees to the customer because the customer is not informed that their auto pay has been disrupted!

Consumer Complaint: I had fraud that accrued on my XX/XX/XXXX statement. The amount was {$700.00}. I notified Bank of America fraud department when I received my XXXX statement. I informed them about the charge and told them that the merchant was the same merchant that I had fraud from in XXXX. They assured me that this time the problem would be taken care of and it wouldn't happen again. I assumed that an immediate credit would be issued and an investigation would be performed. I have received no credit and have not received any correspondents in writing from Bank of America saying that anything is being done to resolve this matter. I have called no less than six times over the past three months and talked to customer service to try to resolve this issue. Each time I'm given different reasons as to why this hasn't been resolved. I don't believe anyone at Bank of America knows how to resolve this issue. I have never seen a fraud situation where an immediate credit was not issued, followed by a letter in the mail saying that a fraud claim has been opened. None of that has happened and I'm not sure Bank of America is doing anything about this to resolve this issue. The current amount Bank of America owes me including interest is {$790.00}
