Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Problem getting a working replacement card
Consumer Complaint: I called bank of America XX/XX/XXXX in regards to being locked out of my account and having a credit card that expired back in 2019. The onlything that got accomplished was an updated phone number and they gave me a number to call about a card replacement. Called them the following day twice. They claim they couldn't authenticate me after i answered all their questions. Told me to go to a branch or go online and rudly hung up on me so I called back. The 2nd person was a better experience but the authentication questions wouldn't populate. Told me to call back later on in the week. Didn't seem all that sure if a manager could help in my case. Their aware there's no branch near me. I can't login to my account because I need a non expired credit card to do that. They won't unlock my account or send me a card because allegedly they can't authenticate me and there's no branch near me to too. I did request a credit report so I can correct any issues that might be in there as well. This should have been standard practice to mention.

Issue: Unexpected or other fees
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: Prior to covid XX/XX/XXXX I was laid off from my job, so I file for unemployment. I wasn't notified from XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. During XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, I was hospitalized due to the XXXX XXXX XXXX. During the time I was hospitalized I became a victim of fraud due to Bank of America EDD mailing my documents and benefits card to an unknown address, After submitting documents such as police reports, medical information, and law enforcement agency handling the case contract information, Bank of America EDD still refuses to rembruise the fraudulent charges except {$3000.00} that was approved in XXXX, later Bank of America EDD reversed their decision regarding the approved amount, causing my account to be overdrawn. They are only reversing the fees caused by the fraudulent activity from XXXX and XXXX, not the {$63000.00} that was stolen while I was hospitalized on a XXXX XXXX for four months.

Issue: Problem with a purchase or transfer
Subissue: Card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase or transfer
Consumer Complaint: I was on unemployment and Bank of America apparently sent my card to the wrong address. I never received the card so I figured it got lost in the mail and it wasnt a big deal that I would have the money when my savings ran out. I continuing to do my weekly certifications as usual but when I called to get my card they had said that it was sent to the wrong adresses, activated, and was drained of most of the funds in my account. I have no idea what adress they sent it to. The address it was sent to was never a address of mine nor did I ever tell the bank I lived there so it makes no sense why Bank of America isnt giving me the money that was stolen from me which I seriously need at this point. Every time I call the bank they tell me to call back later and their system is under maintenance. I have been fighting this for years

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account
Subissue: Transaction was not authorized
Consumer Complaint: This is not about the transaction directly bank of america resolved all 23 disputes except 2 the first 2 of the 23 were closed out in error during a system maintenance back 2021. BofA will know that exact info as I don't have at the moment. I do have it. BofA alerted me of the problem and resubmitted the claim to be reopened. During covid nobody was looking at the claim n why it was closed n just denied re opening. BofA admits all this they admit those 2 claim are still being worked on 3 yrs long bofa admits they never refunded me the XXXX n XXXX the 2 claims total. They tell me just wait longer. However over the past 6 month I have got at least 12 letters saying interest n fees from these claims had been credited bk to my closed account n to call in to request a check but then I call n bofa says no there still working on it. I get money bk for fees that means I won the dispute u XXXX credit bk interest n fees for a valid debit bofa says just because there paying me interest on the money in dispute n the fees don't mean I won the dispute. I never get any money bk on good debits. Other then cash bk program for spending. Forget the fees n give me bk the {$10000.00} I offered just half I'd eat 50 % of it nope bofa likes I eat 100 % best

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On Thursday XX/XX/XXXX, I received a text message on my phone that my card was charged {$210.00} at a XXXX. I immediately called Bank of America customer service to report the charge as fraudulent. The representative informed me that my physical card was used and it was a chip transaction. I was extremely confused and concerned because I had my physical card ending in XXXX and expiration date XX/XX/XXXX in my possession. After speaking with the representative and creating a claim ( Claim number : XXXX ), I received several emails from Bank of America with details how to track my claim and such. I further searched my email for emails from Bank of America and found an email dated on XX/XX/XXXX that stated Your credit card ending in XXXX is expiring soon. We sent a new card to this address, the email stated my card was shipped on XX/XX/XXXX and would arrive in 7-10 business days. I have attached a copy of this email to this document. I have never received that replacement card in the mail, which leads me to believe my replacement card was stolen in the mail either at the Post Office or from my mailbox and then used without my knowledge or permission at a XXXX in XXXX XXXX Connecticut on XX/XX/XXXX. I live and reside in XXXX, NY and have never used my card in or traveled to Connecticut. I still only have the card ending in XXXX that expires on XX/XX/XXXX in my possession. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was notified that my claim was rejected because it was a chip transaction. Bank of America completely disregarded the letter I sent them by fax explaining the situation. How can I be held responsible for a charge from a card I never received in the mail! They sent it by regular mail with no signature or registered mail. The customer service representative should have asked me for the expiration date listed on the card I had in my possession. It is abhorrent that the card could be activated or simply used straight from the envelope without any confirmation that it was actually in MY possession. I should not be held responsible for charges from a card I never received in the mail or activated myself.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Unable to open an account
Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX and I am a resident of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I am filing this complaint because I had two accounts with Bank of America ; one was a personal account and the other was a Business Account. Both of these accounts got shut down in XXXX XXXX XXXX without me being given any information or notice of the closings. I have reached out to the Bank on multiple occasions and was always given different reasonings as to why this happened. One of the reasons I was told was that it was Fraud, but was not given any further details of the incident, but I did confirm the fraud was NOT committed by me. I have been trying to fix this issue for over a year and nobody from the Bank of America corporation has been of any assistance to me. There was also money that was kept and never returned to me from my Business account. This issue has caused me to not be able to open any other accounts at different banks as I have tried multiple times. It is extremely difficult and such an inconvenience to my life as I have to pay bills, kids, work etc. I need whatever hold is on my information lifted and to be able to have a bank account. As a consumer money is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is supposed to be returned to me! I also should be able to have a functioning bank account. I need further assistance with this matter and soon!

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I deferred payments on my Bank of America mortgage per the federal CARES Act. At the end of the deferment, the loan was modified to place the missed payments at the end of my mortgage as a ballon payment. All terms of the modification were completed over 2 years ago. XXXX is reporting that my Bank of America mortgage is currently in a loan modification program. I disputed this with both XXXX and Bank of America. Bank of America is refusing to correct the report and is telling me they will continue to report the account this way until it is paid off in approximately 12 years. XXXX is refusing to correct the report from showing as currently being modified to showing the account as previously modified. This is the only negative remark showing in my credit report, and despite having an XXXX XXXX, I am being denied credit by XXXX XXXX due to this intentional misrepresentation of facts.
