Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Fee problem

Consumer Complaint: - Without my knowledge and authorization, Bank of America charged me for the " Check Image Fees '' as " Bank Charges '' for the months of XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX of 2023, {$3.00} for each month with the total of {$9.00}. - Upon noticing it, I called the bank in the month of XXXX and asked for refund. Bank refused to return without any reason. - At the same time, I requested the bank to remove any online banking settings that would initiate such charges. Bank confirmed that they removed it. - There were no such charges for the month of XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX of 2023. - Once again, to my surprise, the same charges were again applied to my account for the month of XX/XX/2023. These charges were not authorized by me. - I called the Bank of America twice to resolve this issue. The representative that I talked to were unable and unauthorized to remove these charges. They were also not able to connect me the supervisor or any other higher authority who can discuss this issue with me and resolve it. - I was left with no other option but to escalate this issue to all the relevant government authorities who can help resolve this issue. XXXX Bank of America chose to completely ignore me, I feel very helpless. That should not be the case. Bank should be held accountable for their actions. - I need someone to help me.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to submit a complaint regarding my Bank of America checking and savings account that Bank of America closed without giving me my money. I have attempted to resolve this issue with Bank of America a few times but they gave me the run around and didnt help me at all. The following are the details of my complaint : XX/XX/XXXX I XXXX my brother XXXX {$3000.00}, which my money was taken out. Few days went by my brother calls me and ask if I had a chance to XXXX him the {$3000.00}. I went to check and my XXXX didnt go through..i call bank of america and the guy told me to call XXXX because XXXX isnt part of bank of america, so i call XXXX and a lady i spoke to said that the money wasnt taking out for me to call bank of america, so i went and forth. Nothing was resolve they never gave me back my money they took. I attached my bank statements and you can see that on XX/XX/XXXX the XXXX show completed, XX/XX/XXXX shows fail, and XX/XX/XXXX shows complete. The last two times i XXXX my brother XXXX XXXX was on XX/XX/XXXX and on XX/XX/XXXX. On my bank statements shows otherwise. I started noticing money was missing from both my checking and savings account. When i call bank of america they said nothing is missing and shortly after that they closed both of my account. I had around {$140000.00} in savings and around {$120000.00} in checking. Somehow bank of america said i was negative and that I owe {$1500.00} to them. Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX my checking account at Bank of America had over {$1000.00}. That month I received a new debit card in the mail when I tried to use it the balance was XXXX. My bank statement came and all it said was debit account XXXX. I have been to bank and inquired, I was told the IRS must have taken it. I went to IRS and they knew nothing and they told me if they took it they leave a notification explaining why and what to do. I went back to bank and now XXXX told I can not file a claim or even look into because they force closed my account in XX/XX/XXXX and they have no access. I have been getting the run around each and every time I go into or call bank. The bank closed my account cause of bank charges and overdrafts from the money they took I became homeless due to this

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue: Escrow, taxes, or insurance

Consumer Complaint: 1. Bank of America sent {$2200.00}. to my Insurance company on my behalf. My insurance had already been paid for the year and they sent the {$2200.00}. back to Bank of America and Bank because I was already paid. Bank of America did notify me that my insurance money had been returned to them. They did ask me for proof of insurance and I provided them with the insurance information. I paid {$1400.00} in full to my insurance company on my behalf. Bank of America issued me a refund in the amount of {$50.00} which hasn't been verified as to why this amount was refunded instead of the amount my insurance company returned to them on my behalf. 2. I'm also paying MIP and should not because I had a previous mortgage with Bank of America that was satisfied and paid in full. Also, my tax office sent me a letter sent me a letter that stated that my taxes were about {$800.00} short. Obviously BOA is sending out payments which exceed the amount I owe and are overcharging me for escrow and not returning my money back to me. I've written to Bank America twice because my year wait has elapsed and asked that I be able to pay my own insurance and taxes and they have denied my requests.

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue: Private mortgage insurance (PMI)

Consumer Complaint: I am the borrower on a Conventional loan that started in XXXX. The original purchase price was {$320000.00}. I have been paying PMI for more than 17 years. Per the consumer protection act PMI should have automatically stopped when the loan balance was 80 % of the original purchase price. Bank of America failed to acknowledge that surely after 10 years ( in XXXX ) the loan balance was less than 80 %. When I spoke to Bank of America they disagreed with me and took a stand they what they did by collecting PMI on a loan for more than 15 years was proper. There is no way a borrower should be paying PMI for over 15 years. Bank of Americas policies to collect PMI are unfair to borrowers and similar to government having people pay on student loans for 20 or more years. This standard of not removing PMI once LTV is 80 % of the original purchase price is predatory and should be illegal. Bank of America sent me some documents to support their decision. However they failed to send the documents from their Escrow department dated prior to XXXX that show that mortgage was eligible for PMI removal a long time ago. This is dishonest and unfair to borrowers. Laws need to be changed so borrowers are not paying PMI way pass the point of that 80 % LTV point. Lenders should not be profiting off of collecting PMI for 10 to 20 years.

Consumer Complaint: I am an XXXX XXXX, and my mother made XXXX payments to me this month, namely XXXX XXXX dollars. As I was about to receive the last payment, my saving account was on hold, and the bank told me that I needed to prove that it was for personal use and verify the name and phone number of the transferor. I provided this information truthfully and correctly. But they said, 'I 'm sorry we don't have permission to unlock it for you. You need to wait 5-7 working days to complete the review. '. All my money is in my saving account, and I can not withdraw any money during this period. If I am unable to withdraw in nearly days, there is a high possibility that I will not be able to live a normal life.

Issue: Trouble using your card

Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases

Consumer Complaint: This is a complaint against Bank of America for fraudulently holding onto my money and failing to make a payment that was submitted because while the payment of {$63000.00} exceeded the credit limit of {$32000.00}, {$63000.00} of cleared funds was present in the account also. XXXX, an employee of Bank of America never told me that Bank of America limits total payment to the credit limit and not the cash available which is the fraud. Bank of America according to XXXX in the Fraud Department also takes 24 to 48 hours to process transactions during business days only and thus slows down the availability of credit. In addition, Bank of America can take up to 10 business days ( over 2 weeks ) to transfer money back into my Bank of America checking account. It appears that Bank of America has slowed the process in order to maximize the use of client money. Presumably, this policy not only affects me but hundreds of other credit card holders. The travel agent involved has seen this problem with some Bank of America before.. The family and I had an upcoming trip in XXXX and payment was needed by XX/XX/. On XX/XX/XXXX I transferred from a Bank of America checking account to my Bank of America credit card account with cleared funds {$63000.00}. I told XXXX that the purpose was to pay for a trip in XXXX. After all but approximately {$29000.00} was paid. I spoke to a supervisor XXXX in California. He told me to try again. XXXX also told me that the credit card limit was set by Visa and not the bank. Before getting off the telephone with him, I asked him how I could get back in touch with him. He assured me that I could because he left his contact number on my account. When I did call back, I was told by XXXX and XXXX his supervisor that no way existed to contact him. I requested a supervisor and XXXX took over the call. All calls are recorded so the veracity of my statements can be checked. The travel agent told me that one of the 3 rooms payments for approximately {$29000.00} was cancelled by the Credit Card Company even though I had the full balance in my account less the approximately {$5000.00} applied to my credit card bill which I did not authorize. In any case, this left me with a {$24000.00} overpayment and credit card limit of approximately {$32000.00}. This is far below my credit line balance of {$32000.00}. The problem is that Bank of America takes 24 to 48 hours to process transactions during business DAYS and this stopped the timely application of my payments. This is a fraud because Bank of America chooses to process credit card charges 24 hours a day seven days a week but not apply payments in a timely manner which then results in rejecting charges. The problem is that Bank of America uses the credit limit of {$32000.00} as opposed to the balance in the account and credit limit. This is fraud that has been perpetrated on me and hundreds of others. Bank of America attempted to increase my credit limit automatically which it did by {$17000.00}. This was insufficient and Kia filed a second request which has not been acted upon yet. Besides having {$29000.00} in cash sitting at the credit card company, I also have about {$160000.00} in several bank accounts at Bank of America. How I only was able to qualify for a {$17000.00} increase is another question I have. I also previously filed a complaint against Bank of America because their answering system does not let you speak to an agent directly but requires you to enter a number for the option wanted. When none of the options are available, I finally decided to pick one arbitrarily. Their system does not advise a caller to do this.
