Consumer Complaint: I wrote a check for my XX/XX/2023 rent for {$2600.00}. I wrote the check to my landlords trust fund name XXXX XXXX XXXX as i do every single month and somehow some unknown person cashed it. I had to pay my rent again that month plus a late charge of {$75.00} ; my claim with the bank was to get $ XXXX {$75.00} refunded. Check FraudXX/XX/2023XXXX I went to a bank 's branch to get the claim documents notarized, the bank employee personally faxed the paperwork to the fax # indicated on the claim documents ; this happened on XX/XX/2023 around XXXX PST. Today, XX/XX/2023, I received the second denial letter for my claim. The reason for denial states 'we never received your claim package '. I called the Bank of America claims department multiple times, escalated the matter, told the customer service representative to check that they have received all documents and yet again they denied the claim due to not receiving the documents. 1. BofA needs to refund my money that was cashed in error that the bank didn't have a measure to prevent an unauthorized party from cashing it. 2. Why is it so hard to find the freaking documents faxed to them and review the claim properly? 3. I should not be chasing my own money. It's not my fault that the bank failed a critical step of identification and let a wrong party to cash my rent check that was meant for my landlord.

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America closed all three of my credit on XX/XX/2023 cards without prior notice. All cards were paid on time and there is no suspicious activity. I have been a BofA credit card member in good standing for over 20 years. Their rational for closing was not valid and I believe this was a racially discriminatory action by BofA. Their frequency of closing minorities accounts needs to be reviewed.

Consumer Complaint: By mistake, I made a payment of {$2000.00} instead of {$200.00}. I immediately called the bank to stop the transaction, but they said they couldn't. I also contacted the payment company, and they couldn't help either. I called Bank of America again because my account was at risk of overdrawing. They assured me it was impossible for the transaction to go through since I didn't have overdraft authorization. Two agents confirmed this. To my surprise, the bank overdrew my checking account, where they are not authorized to do so, instead of rejecting the transaction. This happened on XX/XX/XXXX. I made calls on the same day and confirmed on the XXXX that my account wouldn't be overdrawn, as the bank lacks authorization for overdrafts. Yet, on XX/XX/XXXX, I woke up to an overdrawn account. All of this is happening because I have another account with sufficient funds. They are acting unfairly with my money, and they shouldn't play with the savings of their customers. I need my money for do others important things

A BOA rep called from number ( XXXX ) that doesn't except phone calls but finally was able to answer phone today XX/XX/2023 at approximately XXXX. XXXX the BOA rep says the account was opened by someone who lived at that address and was unable to confirm even though I provided prior owners name. XXXX said account has been closed but was unable to provide closing date and would be normal for me to keep getting statements on a closed account - XXXX was refusing to cease and desists, and remove my address from the account.

Consumer Complaint: Merrill Lynch does not have a way for a customer to report a problem with a process or service of theirs, outside of calling and speaking with a representative via phone. I have an IRA account with Merrill Lynch. On XX/XX/XXXX, I initiated a process through their online form, available for existing customers, to rollover an XXXX from a prior employer to my IRA account with Merrill Lynch. A few weeks passed and I noticed no activity on this change. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called Merrill Lynch and spoke with a representative who informed me that my transfer was being held up because the company needs an overnight mailing address from my prior employer 's plan that is not a XXXX XXXX XXXX and also that they need a statement or some other document either from myself or my prior employer 's plan. At no point since I initiated this process was there any attempt by Merrill Lynch to contact me regarding this required information. I had to find this out by waiting and taking the initiative to call a few weeks later. The Merrill Lynch service representative that I spoke with, XXXX XXXX, acknowledged that notifications do not go to customers in these cases. I am upset that there was no effort on the company to inform of needed information, either when I was originally submitting it, or in the weeks in between when I submitted it and my phone call. I am also upset that the only venue for me to notify the company about this directly is by speaking with the service representative, who validated that there is an issue, however, it left me with no assurance that this would get to the right management team at Merrill Lynch. I am also upset that there is no other venue for me to contact Merrill Lynch to let them know about problems and shortcomings in the offerings they provide for customers. Hence, why I am going through CFPB.
