Consumer Complaint: The vendor, American Express, assessed a {$250.00} membership renewal fee on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. Because I pay my card balance through automatic debit, the vendor received automatic payment for the charge on XX/XX/XXXX. I contacted customer service on XX/XX/XXXX to seek a refund of the membership fee and to cancel my card, as I no longer used it. ( I had been a member since XXXX. ) I used the " chat '' function on the vendor 's site and spoke with " XXXX. '' " XXXX '' informed me that he could not refund the membership fee because I requested it outside of the XXXX window for such requests. I informed him that my immediate family had suffered a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX after the holiday, and that I was unable to seek the refund during that time. I also told him that it seemed inequitable to refuse my request given that I requested the reversal 34 days after the assessment, and less than 21 days after paying it. XXXX informed me that if I terminated my card immediately, I would lose earned points that I had amassed. I therefore pended the termination so that I could use the points first. I did so, and promptly terminated the card on XX/XX/XXXX. I submitted the complaint through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and directly to American Express. On XX/XX/XXXX, an American Express representative called me to inform me that the bank would not reverse the fee. I clarified with her that the membership agreement does not specify whether the XXXX requirement is based upon calendar or business days. She did not disagree with the ambiguity, but nevertheless persisted that Amex would not refund the fee. I would like the fee to be refunded. If Amex wishes to apply the XXXX requirement for a refund to reflect calendar days, it should clearly state that requirement in its cardholder agreement.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 around XXXX central time, I received a direct deposit from my company. which was weird, cause my payroll checks usually come on thursday night around XXXX. So i waited for the next day, and went about my business. I stopped and put gas in my car ( {$33.00} ) and then made an ATM withdraw for ( {$60.00} ). after that I went to work. I tried to pay a utility bill and was told transaction declined, I went to a ATM and was told Account balance unavailable. I was not able to log in using the App. Finally once I was able to get a person on the phone. Not one person could tell me what was going on, It finally took 10 phone calls. before the Service agent gave me some type of information, wether it was correct or not, It was better then the service i had been receiving. I was told my account had fraudulent activities, and had been suspended/locked. One agent even told me that it was my payroll check that caused this situation, although for the past 8/9 months, I have had all my payroll checks deposited into this American Express Serve account, to which I have had for over 6 years.

The act of making a request for something. A written request to have a certain quantity of land at or near a certain specified place. The use or disposition made of a thing. A bringing together, in order to ascertain some relation or establish some connection ; as the application of a rule or principle to a case or fact. An appeal or petition, especially as written or presented. I called the customer service number XXXX and there were no options to speak with an agent. The best they could do in their digital response was to refer me to CFPB.gov if I had any complaints. Apparently someone is fraudulently using my address to obtain this prepaid card.

Consumer Complaint: I always paid my account and it was in good standing. I was notified by American Express that they closed my XXXX credit card and that my account was canceled and I tried to have them pro rate the credit card fee and honor the credit card points they issued me. I spoke with XXXX today, XX/XX/XXXX in their XXXX Offices. XXXX said they wouldn't honor their points or credit me some of the credit card fee. The promised exceptional service when I applied for the card. I found the service of the XXXX credit card to be very poor. Additionally, I have an airline credit with XXXX because I had covid and they are not honoring it because the card is closed and they closed the account. Below are some of the unfortunate experience I had while the account was open with the American Express credit card : American Express booked the wrong date on a hotel. There were fraudulent charges on my account and they wouldn't take care of it at first. They called me 2 times a day which seemed very excessive. When I tied to talk to them about the charge itself they wouldn't address it. They wanted me to comply with their questions and wouldn't answer my questions. I had to write to their CEO XXXX. They left the charge on the account and I was very trouble by the whole experience. I didn't felt that they protected me. I felt that I didn't receive the high level of service they advertised. They issued me a new credit card number but not a new credit card. I asked XXXX why and they didn't respond. I received XXXX notifications that I had an outstanding balance which were inaccurate. Again, I emailed their CEO XXXX and never received a reply. I was a told to disregard the emails and then received a second notification again. Today when i spoke with XXXX he said my account was in good standing. I asked him for an explanation about what was going on and he didn't provide feedback. I would ask them to please not transfer me to representatives outside of XXXX XXXX and they would tell me that they wouldn't and then I would get transferred to call centers outside of XXXX XXXX. I couldn't understand the repressives outside of XXXX XXXX as their understanding of the English language and ability to answer my questions was very poor. Again, I this want the level of service they advertised for the XXXX credit card. I would have expected better service. I found that I was consistently transfer after excessive periods of time and no one could answer my questions. This was not the level of service they advertise. When I asked for a manager they said they were unavailable. This is not the level of service that was advertised for the XXXX card. I was told by a manager that they would call me at a certain time and then they didnt. Again, I was told their XXXX credit card provided a high level of service. I experienced very poor service. Additionally, I was on the phone with a manager who said the would call me back because of the poor connection. He never called me back. I found this to be very poor service and unprofessional. They falsely represented the equinox benefit when I applied for the card. I told them that I had single access to XXXX club and didn't think I would qualify. They told me I qualified. They did later did honor the credit for XXXX year. When I was given a flight credit no voucher was provided and the credit was with Amex. I would have expected a voucher for the credit and requested XXXX. They said they don't do this. Providing a voucher by email or letter seems standard. Just to clarify, I sent them an overpayment in on XXXX and was given many different messages. XXXX said my account was in good standing today, XX/XX/XXXX. Please investigate this matter. Consumer Complaint: My wife XXXX XXXX opened up a new American Express XXXX airline credit card. She received an offer to make a referral and get XXXX points. It said if your friend is approved they will receive XXXX XXXX XXXX and you will receive XXXX XXXX sky miles. My wife sent me a referral and I applied for the card as well. We plan to get back into traveling and wanted to have an airline card in addition to our XXXX American Express card. I was approved in XX/XX/2021. My wife also received the referral bonus miles in XXXX. I adhered to the required spend to get the XXXX miles but I have not received the miles. We have contacted American Express and they said I was not approved for the offer. I never received any correspondence indicating I would not receive the welcome offer bonus of XXXX miles or I would not have went forward with opening up the credit card. I have the email indicating I was approved and there was no communication regarding not being eligible for the welcome offer nor was there any further correspondence regarding this either. I have contacted American Express they opened up a case and indicated that has been escalated to management ( reference XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ) but it may take 30 days or more to resolve. I shouldve received these miles months ago and we were planning some upcoming travel and were hoping to use the miles. We are very loyal American Express customers with outstanding credit scores. this has been a very disappointing experience.

Consumer Complaint: American Express closed my worker 's card in an arbitrary, capricious and XXXX. Because of this, I have demanded that American express refund my annual fee. I did it via a phone call to Amex customer service at around XXXX Pacific Standard Time on XX/XX/2022. Amex refused my request in the following manner : ( i ) customer rep XXXX ( who said he was based in XXXX ) insulted me by calling me a XXXX without any reason ; ( ii ) XXXX, a customer service rep in XXXX, North Carolina, with phone ID XXXX, insulted me by laughing at me and saying that I was talking funny. This was offensive and XXXX towards myself, an XXXX in the US with an accent. ( iii ) XXXX ' supervisor XXXX XXXX in XXXX, North Carolina : ( a ) refused to refund my annual fee ; ( b ) refused to apologize for XXXX calling me a XXXX and for XXXX telling me I was funny ( c ) Insulted me by telling me that the things that I was saying were funny. ( d ) refused to say why the credit card of my worker was closed Since Amex closed my worker 's card they must refund my annual fee. American express should also stop being XXXX and apologize to me for XXXX insults.

Consumer Complaint: I was informed by American Express via telephone and their website prior to committing to the XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX that the annual fee would be waived for XXXX XXXX military personnel. I am a cadet at a service academy, and according to title 44 of US code I am an XXXX XXXX XXXX. American Express amended their policy to exclude cadets so they will not reimburse me the {$550.00} for the XXXX XXXX and {$250.00}. Once this was realized it was outside of the 30 day window to cancel the card, so simply cancelling them could negatively affect my credit score and would not reimburse me.

Consumer Complaint: Received in mail several letters about opening credit cards in my name that I did not do. There were several including Amex, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX card, XXXX XXXX XXXX. I looked up my XXXX credit report and found all of these inquirers. I have put a freeze and a fraud alert on my XXXX credit report. I was advised by the XXXX agent to report this to FTC, which web site directed me here. There was also a bank account opened under my name at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have contacted them and had that account closed. I would like to know if there is anything else I need to do to protect my identify and prevent any future fraud.
